Chris Rose what a lift to Jomboy Media you’ve been. You never make excuses regardless of your schedule and always come prepared with questions that spark fun morning conversations. Really appreciate your efforts king, happy birthday!

As a Mets fan I absolutely loved the transparency from Steven Cohen. It’s so refreshing in sports to hear an owner speak honestly about how he is feeling and what is going on wish guys did that more often rather than lie. Also happy birthday C rose!
@@TheKilrmy yeah, he said it was an exhausting contract talk, makes sense, being aware of Boras. Said he wants him back and never say no. Then proceeded to say something about adding so many guys when they just haven't done so. They retained Manaea and brought in Soto and Holmes. That's a lot of money, but it's by far not a lot of moves. And paying 13 mil for a bullpen guy to start instead of using some of that for their franchise guy is crazy. They're relying on Mets pitching magic with Holmes already, why not save some money, get your guy, and go with a cheaper gamble?
@@ShrexyGuy He didn’t say he foo don’t bring in Alonso because the because they have brought in too many other guys. He said he doesn’t like the negotiations AND it is getting to a point where Alonso won’t fit into their plans. Right now it seems to be Cohen not wanting to spend what Pete wants, regardless of what he has determined his budget to be and at some point soon it’ll be Cohen not being able to spend what Pete wants based on the predetermined budget.
I love the honesty of Steve Cohen. He knows the fans love Pete, he was a Mets fan before he owned the team so he understands how we all felt chanting that. His answer was great and made a lot of sense. I think all owners should be as open as he is.
He's honest about the situation and Pete is living in an alternate universe. I'm a Mets fan and he left a small village on the bases during the season. Most of his home runs came in meaningless situations and he was third in rbi. He reminds me of Jose Conseco when it comes to his abilities and attitude.
29:20 As a lifelong Dodgers fan I really feel for Padres fans. I was rooting for LA through the McCourt years and I remember watching important pieces of the 08/09 contender teams bleed away as ownership struggles restricted spending. I really hope the situation in San Diego is resolved quickly before Cease and King and Arraes follow Profar out the door and before Tatis' talent is left to rot on mediocre teams a la Mike Trout. This shit is the worst, their fans deserve better, and the NL West is better when teams are competitive.
I’m also a Dodgers fan and couldn’t agree more. I have no affection for the Padres at all and their fans have been seriously ahead of their skis, but passionate fans of any franchise never deserve this kind of nightmare.
Happy Birthday C-rose, just wanna throw out that you’ve been a sports commentator my entire life. I remember watching you when I was in junior high and now you are on my favorite baseball YT channel. Much appreciated, one of my favorites!
Met fan here I loved what Steve said. There's no upside to what Boras is trying to do with all of the opt outs. If someone wants to pay him that, go ahead.
Happy birthday Chris! You’re a legend! As a father of 3 of young ages! And I love hearing you speak on how much love for them! You’re a stud! Have a jack and coke today !
happy birthday rosie!! as a mets fan i love what cohen said. he’s honest and he held himself accountable. it’s a very nice feeling where we can actually see where the team is heading and not the bs 30 different reports a day😂 love u chris and coach trev🎉🎉
Happy Birthday Rosey! Baseball Today and the Chris Rose Rotation are seriously fantastic shows, and you always have a great mix of quality questions and lighthearted humor. Keep on rockin and hope you have an excellent day!
Absolutely loved hearing Cohen say what he did. I loved that he turned the Sign him! and We want Pete chants into applause for saying that in reality, we might have to realize we're moving on. 2 minutes of blunt talk and he completely got the fans on his side just by giving an honest, transparent explanation. Also like they he stepped in front of the bus fans were trying to throw Stearns under. They all thought Stearns was blowing it and Cohen was going to ride in and throw his money at Pete and save the day.
As a marlins fan I don’t hate on the dodgers for what they’re doing or think there needs to be a cap. I think there should be a net worth minimum on owners.
I was surprised to learn that the greater Miami area constitutes 6.5 million potential Marlins fans. I would’ve guessed maybe 3 million, kind of small-to-mid market. It’s so easy to imagine Miami becoming a marquee desired destination for Dominican, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Venezuelan etc. players, like the West Coast is for Asian players. But not with that garbage ownership.
I don't know better than Trevor, but I'm not so sure about his read on the kind of pressure and heat one might face in a leadership position in private equity versus baseball team ownership. Bah, whatever, thanks to both of you and Jomboy media for making being a baseball fan so much fun!
Happy Birthday Rosey, I've been listening to and watching you since I was a teenager, and you never fail to entertain me and also give me all the baseball shit I love without all the bullshit. Thanks for what you do, and keep doing it.
Rosey saying, “it’s perfectly fine,” for his age/birthday was no way in hell “fine” lol. Hilarious, Mr.Rose. We love it. Thanks for staying in the world of baseball.
I am as much of a Chris Rose fan as I am a baseball fan, and that is saying something after 35 years of fandom. Its been such a fun ride with you at Jomboy!!! Hope you have an amazing birthday.
Padres are going to be the Padres of old. Trading players before big contract for prospects. Peter knew he was dying and got these players their contracts to make sure we still have superstars. Thank you Peter. You did more for us than any Padres owner. I will always remember feeling excited when we signed great players.
I like what Cohen said, but I'm not a Mets fan. From the outside looking in, it really looks like Boras and Pete want a significant overpay for what he offers. He gives a decent number of home runs per year but never got close to repeating his rookie season and was down to 34 last year, and.. that's pretty much it. Average to slightly below average defense at a low value defensive position, not great average/obp, not a great base runner. He wants to be a $30-40m per year player just because people stroke his ego each year around the Home Run Derby, but I think the Mets offering him $20-25m annually was more than fair for what he actually produces. This feels like another year of Boras telling a client "Turn it down, we'll get more" and that not coming true. And happy birthday, Rosie!
Happy birthday Rose! As a Padres fan I think uncertainty is what is killing the fans the most right now. We do have a competitive team with some holes, but it feels like a crossroad where they could sell some pieces and take a step back, or add some pieces and be up there in the playoff conversation. Preller is good at finding value, so he might just be waiting for the right time to strike. Last year he found bargains in Profar, Solano, Peralta, Estrada, and others I might be forgetting. Can he do it again?
Happy Birthday Rosie. I’m in the UK and saw you first on battlebots! Had no idea what a great broadcaster you were. Didn’t know you loved baseball like myself, and then find out you’re a Cleveland fan too. Crazy. Keep up the good work man
Happy Birthday, Rose! I am ashamed to say that I have watched this show for a season or two and realized just last night that you are one of the voices in the poker videos I watch.
Steve Cohen absolutely love that. The fans have a small perspective “oh just get it done c’mon why’s it so hard?” The answer he gave was perfect and refreshing to know they've been trying to the point of exhaustion.
I’m a Dodgers fan and a Saints fan, and I imagine how I feel about the Saints chances moving forward is somewhat similar to how Marlins fans feel. This is not a uniquely baseball feeling
I still can’t believe the Soto contract. It is just astronomical and I truly think the other teams dodged a bullet. He is a below average defender and isn’t marketable like other players. The Mets thought let’s give him more money than a guy who draws a whole entire nation and can pitch at an all star level.
And then he goes out and talks about how hard it is to do contract negotiations to sign players. Not a good look in my opinion, what else have the Mets done?
As a Met fan I'd rather have him be straight up honest and not sugar coat it now because if he's not truthful about it now and we find out about it later it always makes you think less of a man when they lie to you
Well we still don’t know the specifics and what demands Boras and Pete are making. I know there are rumors of an opt out where Pete can opt out and leave but the Mets still have to pay him a bonus, but that’s not facts. If that is the case, then I take the Mets side. But if the Blue Jays make an offer that is OK with that and they also offer a few million dollars more and the Mets don’t match, then I blame the Mets. Because that just shows another team values him more than the Mets do and the Mets are wrong for letting him go seeing as they have some massive holes in the lineup
The context of Profar's comment about the Padres' ownership situation was that he was asked when did it become apparent he wasn't likely to return there. Given their lack of activity and that he quickly pivoted to saying how much interest the Braves showed, I am left with the assumption they did not seriously pursue him or make a legitimate offer.
Pete did it to himself, he took a gamble on himself when he didn’t take that deal and it didn’t work out for him. Respect him for taking the chance but it didn’t work. Now him and boras have an unrealistic expectation about their market and have no leverage. Would love Pete to come back and retire a met, but he just flat out played the market wrong.
