Yeah, the reason people love to see dialogue in these playthroughs is because they're narrative games rather than mechanical games. People like to see the story play out. The gameplay is just icing on the cake.

    "Paragon... what does that mean?"
    - Choosing the top right dialogue option (usually more diplomatic) will sometimes earn you Paragon points. As your Paragon score increases, you will be able to put more points into the Charm skill. If your Charm skill is high enough you will sometimes get an extra (blue) dialogue option.
    - Choosing the bottom right dialogue option (usually more confrontational) will sometimes earn you Renegade points. As your Renegade score increases, you will be able to put more points into the Intimidate skill. If your Intimidate skill is high enough you will sometimes get an extra (red) dialogue option.
If your Paragon or Renegade score is high enough, you can sometimes resolve a difficult situation purely by talking. And if you are offered a blue or red dialogue option, they will almost always be successful in resolving difficult situations.

I love finding new people playing this game. Legendary Edition is the way to go as the story really is one story in three parts and I suggest a consecutive playthrough of 1 thru 3. This game will leave a mark on you for the rest of your life.

The citadel can be confusing to get around in at first so you did really well for your first time finding things. ME1 being the older of the series is a little more difficult in terms of finding your way around but that gets better in the next two.
Also don’t sweat switching out team mates too much. Later as you do missions you’ll be able to take whoever you want with you and can change them out or take different people on different missions or just figure out which squad composition you like and only take them. It’s your choice. Some people have a particular squad they like to bring on most missions and that’s just fine. Either way later you’ll be able to talk to all of them between missions anyway. So the more the merrier! 😊
    Loved the episode! 👏

(1:07:45) Rapid-firing weapons do better at removing shields, while slow-firing weapons (like sniper rifles) do better at reducing health. Your sniper rifle is having trouble with the shields on Fist and the turret. Also, when Wrex goes down (which is weird -- Wrex is a TANK), that's the time to use medi-gel. Your companions can't die; they just go down until you use medi-gel to get them back up or the fight ends.

Captain Anderson is played by Keith David. Joker is played by Seth Green. Marina Sirtis (Councilor Troi from Star Trek The Next Generation) plays Matriarch Benezia, and Saren is played by veteran voice actor Fred Tatasciore. Shepard is voiced by Jennifer Hale (femshep) and Mark Meer (maleshep). But even though you're playing as femshep, you're still hearing Mark Meer - he voiced a lot of the Volus, Elcor, and Hanar characters.
There are novels and comic books that have deeper dives into events surrounding the games. Most are centered around Mass Effect 2, but the novel Mass Effect Revelation is safe to read right now. It tells the story of Anderson's first meeting with Saren, 20 years before the game. It's written by Drew Karpyshyn, the lead writer on Mass Effect 1.
The second book, Ascension, takes place during the prologue of Mass Effect 2, and has a couple spoilers for the ending of Mass Effect 1. The third novel, Retribution, is a direct sequel to Ascension.
You can buy all the comic books in one complete set, but a lot of them have spoilers for ME2's ending, and many serve as prequels for ME3. A couple aren't safe to read until you've started the prologue of ME3. So the comics can wait.
There's even an anime movie, Paragon Lost. It takes place towards the end of ME2, and serves as a prequel to ME3. It stars Freddie Prinze Jr, whose character appears in ME3.
And remember, the red and blue dialogue options are rewards for investing in speech skills. Using the red or blue choices on the warehouse workers would intimidate them into leaving without a firefight. When you're in a bit of a panic, the red/blue options can get you out of trouble.
And if you don't take Wrex to see Fist, then you can spare Fist and see him in ME2.
Mr Bahtia at the end there knows Ashley. His wife was in her unit, the 212. If she's in your squad, she has unique dialogue with him.

You are learning fast! Keep it up. About squadmates: 1. You need decription and electronics to open stuff up; so always have someone on your squad leveled up on those. 2. You can use all powers that your squad has in battle. As you develop a fighting style, some squadmates are better than others. 3. You will like some characters better than others. There is no requirement AT ALL about using or not using characters for missions off the ship---no penalties or change in plot. You will have favorites.

Paragon means you're being a good person, Renegade means you're being a bad person. You can be both and you can check your morality in the Squad screen. Depending on how high your Paragon or Renegade level is, different dialogue options get unlocked

  • @tymoty9692
    @tymoty9692 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

After a dialogue or some choice, you are given points. If you choose the good side in the dialogue or actions, you are given Paragon points. They are marked in blue. If you choose the bad side, you are given Renegate points (red color). Depending on how you will pass the game, you will be either a Paragon or a Renegate. This will affect both the further dialogues and the attitude of your teammates towards you.

Paragon and renegade are two ways in which Shepard solves problems, in action or dialog. First is more diplomatic, the other more direct, yin and young - gentle and rough. Mind you - they're not good and evil, especially that you can't foresee the results. Do what your heart (or mind) tells you, although sometimes you may need quite a lot of one or the other to open a new, more efficient, dialogue option (these options are marked in blue and red) - so many players believe (not me, but I've got several hundred or thousand hours in the game, in each of installments) that you should try to stick to one path. When you look at your character screen you can see the counters on the left.
Also: dialogue options on the left keep the conversation going on the right there are usually closers for a topic or whole conversation.

Argos Rho is a star system on your galaxy map that you can fly to in your ship. No rush for that yet though. There is plenty to explore in the Citadel for now.
You'll be meeting superfan Conrad Verner again.
On the squad selection screen you can choose just two of your crew to accompany you, at the start of missions or just exploring the Citadel. On your ship though, all will be available to talk to. Just a thought....before your next fight, you might want to distribute Garrus, Wrex and Tali's skill points to improve their stats. All your crew members gain skill points as you do as you level up.😉
A word on the blue and red coloured dialogue options. Generally they are a means to persuade (blue) or threaten (red) who you are talking to, and can help you avoid combat. Whether you get these dialogue options depends on how high your Charm (blue) and Intimidate (red) skills are. The requirements vary depending on the situation.
The Citadel is huge in this game with so much to see and do - it can be overwhelming.
Well done on recruiting Garrus, Tali & Wrex - three of the very best characters. They're all very well written. You'll be getting attached to all of them and more eventually!🤗

As others have said your headshot skill is very good with your sniper rifle, although at short range your pistol will have a faster firing rate and won't overheat as quickly. Infiltrator is my favourite class though as I love taking out enemies from a distance!
Also bear in mind you can use whatever biotic or tech abilities your current team has in combat. Not sure which key it is on PC but you can bring up the power selector in combat.

(1:10:38) I watched the clock, and I don't think the quest timer is running when you're picking a lock.

Hi Lucille, enjoyed this episode like the last one. You are almost to the point where the game opens up for some traveling and I hope you have fun with that. I have 2 points of advice about gameplay to give after watching this episode (No spoilers).
    1. When selecting your team the bars of strength, tech, and biotic strength are not really too important in this game. It is much more important to be setting up equipment on your squadmates to help them do damage and survive. When you get back on the Normandy you'll be able to access their lockers and be able to start equipping all of your squadmates. I imagine after you figure out how you want to go about setting up their equipment that you'll edit those parts of the game out of the video as I've seen other streamers do that before. As you continue playing you will automatically get stronger equipment based on your level in the game, so look forward to that.
    2. You should access the SQUAD menu from your main menu and set the points to your team every time you level up. You get points every time you level up and so does your squadmates, so you should take advantage of that. While your doing well in battle now, it might be a good idea to go to your options menu and make sure you have allowed your party members to use their abilities freely rather than on DEFENSIVE ( I think I saw you select this in your first episode, I don't know if you changed it). Doing this will ensure that they will use their full range of abilities rather than just defensive abilities when the fights start getting difficult.
Looking forward to your next episode.

(1:05:35) Damn, you are good with that thing. I still think you should be prepared to switch to the pistol occasionally, though. 😉
(1:05:55) Your health and shields should come back automatically when combat is over, so save your medi-gel for emergencies during a fight.
(1:06:37) A red or blue option will almost always be an automatic persuasion success. Reward for putting points into Charm or Intimidation.
(1:07:22) You're kicking ass with your sniper rifle, but when the range gets close, you will do better with your pistol.

When it comes to your group, don't worry about picking certain team members for the story. If they're needed in the next cutscene, they'll show up (for the most part). Pick your group how you want. If you think you'll face more robots, you may want Tali & others with more Tech strength, for instance. If you like bringing Ashley and Kaiden, that's fine, also. There are many ways to play through... and, until later, it doesn't really matter who is in your group.
(In Mass Effect 2, it really does matter, and you can permanently lose people if you make bad choices... but that's for later.)

      @LucilleGirlGamer  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    1. set squadmates to use all their abilities not just defensive abilities otherwise you'll have to manually instruct them which is tedious.
    2. Spending points on charm and intimidate is the most important stats to raise as this will unlock new dialogue options, leading to alternative story choices. This directly influences how you interact with other characters, everything else is just for combat.
    3. How the dialogue wheel works: top right is most likely a charm option and will probably earn you paragon point. Bottom right is most likely an intimidate option and will most likely earn you renegade points. Middle right is neutral and will most likely earn you no points. Options on the left hand side are most likely just to seek additional information. Options in blue are dialogue that requires a certain number of points invested into the charm skill. If you do not have enough charm skill then you will not be able to choose these options. The same applies for dialogue in red, except this relies on having a high enough intimidate skill. Exploring the dialogue tree is an essential part of the game and we all want to see it.
    4. The game tries to make you pick to either be paragon or renegade as you will get more dialogue unlocked that way however in reality if you just choose the options you feel are natural there is very little you will actually miss out on. In the entire trilogy there are only a few dialogue choices that require an extremely high level in charm or intimidate and none of it is critical to the plot so don't feel pressured to stick to either charm or intimidate options. Making choices that are natural to you will have a better gameplay experience than making choices just to score a higher charm level for one dialogue choice.
    5. You're always apologizing to us because you're not playing the game well. How good you are is irrelevant, most of us are watching this because we have played the games dozens of times and we want to see other people experience it and react to key events. Whether you're good at the shooting parts or not makes no difference to us we are all just trying to relive those moments again through you.
    6. If your cat comes into the room it's an unspoken rule that you have to hold it up to the camera and show us. I don't make these rules that's just how it is, so say we all.

@@LucilleGirlGamer I don't know if I am that nice I am here to watch you break down in tears when the game breaks your heart. ;) That is probably another beginner tip; have a box of tissues ready, wear the good waterproof mascara etc etc.
One more tip I reckon new players need to know: when you select your squad it will give you stats for how you have balanced the squad, some squad members have high biotic skills and some have high electronics skills etc etc. You'll basically get three colored bars that represent how strong your squad is in these areas and it's tempting to try pick a balanced squad. Ignore that completely. What you want to do is think about which squadmates have the most relevance to the mission you are going on. For example if you are going to do a mission on a planet that is where a squadmate was born then take them. If you are doing a mission where you will be going on a mission where you will be meeting a squadmate's uncle then bring that squadmate. This is because those squadmates will have unique insights/interactions/dialogue. Try to pick squadmates that you think have a personal reason to be on that mission, not the squadmate with the best balance of stats.
I don't know if you really want these tips, maybe this is annoying. My dog and I will be following along with you and your cat's playthrough so if you ask anything I'll probably answer but otherwise I think I'll leave the rest up to you to find out.

I think you are getting a bit too excited & rushing some of your shots. As a sniper it is usually better to calm down & take your time with each shot. Not only will it often allow you to actually take out enemies more quickly but significantly reducing the likelyhood of overheating your weapon.
