I'm building my second pedal (a Keeley Mag Echo clone from PedalPCB with a momentary feedback mod) while taking an electronics class and this is the exact content I'm looking for, a step-by-step analysis of how the components affect the signal. This is crazy relevant. Thank you so much!!
I just did this with a belton brick reverb which as we all know is made up of pt2399's. I added a momentary switch to change the feedback loop resistance so if the oscillations toggle is ON then the momentary switch turns them OFF and if the oscillations toggle is OFF then it turns oscillations ON. This way I can either use the momentary switch to bring in oscillations or use the toggle to have them on all the time (unless I hit the momentary footswitch to momentarily turn them off). Works great for swells and all sorts of ambient ideas. Especially if you want the end of a chord progression or riff to really fill out and keep things building up until the next part. The reverb I built was a Chasm Reverb which i added a few modifications to so it can be more versatile and do traditional spring and hall Reverb while still having the stock spring, cathedral/modulated reverb available.
This is super interesting. I'm currently working on a belton brick reverb based on the Death By Audio Reverberation Machine and would love to add something like this. Do you have any resources on how to implement this with a Belton Brick?
@@ryleyperry1083 To implement oscillations with the Belton Brick, I believe it is just a matter of tying the input pin 3 to the output pins 5 and 6 with a 4.7K - 5.1K resistor and possibly a small 22nF capacitor. The resistance may need to be much lower or higher due to oscillation speed, and the 22nF might not be needed, as I don't know if the Belton's internals have coupling capacitors internal or not. But the premise is the same: feed the output back into the input.
If you ever come back please make a video making a diy maestro fz-1 from 1962 or 1964 i cant remember which year not the fz1a but the og 3 volt fz 1 please theirs no information I understand online and these diy videos help alot i dont understand schematics thatd be awsome
I love PT2399 delays, so this was a treat to watch. Would be cool to know how to insert a vibrato effect into the feedback loop to customize the sound. The new Crazy Tube Circuits pedal, TI:ME is the best PT2399 based delay I've heard, has the sweetest modulation to my ears.
Fun stuff dude! Im gonna try this. Might also be cool to have it set up with a normal expression pedal, so you can up the repeats gradually until it runs away.
Can I suggest an Idea for a video? Show examples of parts behaving out of spec and giving absurd readings for different reasons. Or fun stuff you can do with a digital meter. Generally stuff you could amuse friends with.
If the feedback knob is set to 0, this doesn’t work. I think a better way would be to use a momentary bypass switch for the feedback pot. Doable with a spdt, signal would go into the common lug, then through the NC contact it would go to lug 2 of the feedback pot and the NO contact to lug 3 of the feedback pot. That way lug 2 is disconnected when pressing the switch so it won’t matter where the pot is set when you engage the switch.
@@erikvincent5846 when the pedal is off theres signal but when the pedal was on theres no signal. i think theres no problem with the switch and any of board wiring it must be do with the circuit. and its a true bypass pedal
It would be pretty rad if there was a really super old through-hole version of the Freeze, somewhere in history…. I’m sure it’s too crazy for me to want to look into, the way it’s built today, but it’d be an adventure to look into whether or not there ever was a simplified original prototype version, that would be modded by DIY’ers and Circuit Benders and our ilk, of course. Ha!
Hello I have a question about adding a volume control to a guitar pedal, I have a rocktron pulse that has everything pcb mounted and i dont know how to add a volume pot to it or if there is a way to get rid of the volume boost. Could I email you a picture of the pcb? thank you

I got a problem with my first guitar pedal build (krank distortion clone). The problem is my guitar making a lot of noise when turned on like in your past video th-cam.com/video/bv54-vZnqv8/w-d-xo.html , and my pedal also making small amount of noise when I pressed bypass. My pedal powered by 9v battery. Please give me your solution.

I built the Boy in Well, and it is great. I really like the feedback when you turn repeats fully CW then modulate it to control the feedback volume.

Aside from the stomp switch circuit having problems, you might want to double-check the bleeder resistor, R10. It should be 1 mega-ohm or greater.
