At the end of the song, at 7:40 in your video, you say: "Not many lyrics..."

Everything already said. Album version is even better. Clare Tory was a session singer brought in for an afternoon, paid £30, given no real guidance apart from no words. She did it in a couple of takes and left feeling she had done a bad job. Now she’s music history. She later caught and got a writing credit for it so she ended up with more than £30.

You are liking the production, sound and meaning of this song. You really should consider looking into the album as a whole. Dark Side of the Moon is a "concept album." This song fits into the album at a specific spot for a specific purpose and relates to the other songs on the album for a complete theme. The Wall goes a step further, as it included a movie based on the story of the songs on the album. Both of these deserve comprehensive looks, if you like and appreciate the work these guys do - Also, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council were two blues musicians back in the '60's that Syd Barrett, a founding member of PF liked. This is where the bands name came from.

This video always gives me chills. Yes, it is about the five stages of death. Sam Brown does Denial and Anger (superbly). Durga McBroom does Barganing and Depression (what a voice) and Claudia Fontaine (no one could have done it better) does Acceptance. Three of the best female voices ever. Sadly, Sam Brown, the blonde singer, lost her singing voice. But I am happy to have recently read that she has regained her singing voice! You go girl! I'm an old guy. This song has great meaning even tho there's no words. It's about the stages of grief one is in when they find out they're dying. 20 years ago a long-time friend was diagnosed with cancer. When I went to the hospital to visit, I asked him how he felt about his circumstances. He said, remember the "Great Gig In The Sky"? I said of course and he said, well I'm at the second verse ( for lack of a better word since there are no lyrics) if you know what I mean. The third verse would come 2 weeks later. I will never forget him or this very powerful song. Great stuffs folks..
