Lessons like these remind us of how desparately we are in need of a savior...this is such a tragic story but we can not ignore the deceitful nature of our own fallen hearts...so heavy indeed.... thank you Jesus for salvation...thank you Father for Your enduring mercy...

I’m amazed that you don’t have thousands of people following your teaching.

Sin is such a destroyer. It laid waste David's family. My goodness, we don't see how deeply it will infiltrate our family when we start dabbling.
I remember Genesis 4 saying sin is crouching at our door and it desires to have us. I have to remember that sin is not haphazard, but it is coming for me. Lord Jesus help me see what I can't see. Help me to deal with sin on this side of eternity while there is still time to make it right with you. Please don't let me wander into sin's arms thinking it's going to be ok. It's never ok.
Kim, a very sobering but necessary chapter. It keeps me awake. I thank God for your ministry!
    God bless!!!!

This is so good... "...we don't see how deeply it will infiltrate our family when we start dabbling." Lord, help us. And THIS --> "...sin is not haphazard, but it is coming for me." YES! We so need to understand that. It wants to take us OUT. You are so right that a chapter like this keeps us awake. I thank God for you as well! Your insights are always so on point. Blessings to you, sis!

I have a problem understanding scripture sometimes, but the way you explain it as you read makes it easy to grasp. Thank you so much.

Amen! This makes me more cognizant of my disobedience/sin, because I don't want my future kids and their kids to pay for my unrighteousness

My goodness. Words just cannot describe the heaviness of this chapter. An awful look at the "ripple effects" of our heart sins. Thank God that He is so faithful to forgive and renew, but I'm praying for protection around my son and his future children from the wages of poor choices Mom made. If that thought doesn't make us think twice about venturing into questionable territory, I don't know what will! It's frightening, and still.....we wander. Thank you, God, that you ALWAYS promise to offer us a way out of temptation, and let my heart hear that nudge and LISTEN.
Oh, I know David had no clue the devastation that would come from his first lustful thought. Hindsight is indeed 20/20 - I see that in my own life as well. My heart breaks for poor Tamar.

"...David had no clue the devastation that would come from his first lustful thought"....how sobering is *that*. So much to give us pause and even frighten us (in a good way) as you said. Those ripple effects are real! Like you, I am moved to pray for protection around my children and their children regarding choices I have made. Lord, have mercy upon us...

Wow! This was a really sad and disturbing chapter of David's life, Im thinking that maybe David didn't know exactly how to handle this, this is a very difficult situation so I imagine think he just didn't know what to do, never the less something should have been done and maybe Absalom would not have killed his brother. The sword definitely did not depart from Davids house. I can only hope that Absalom will repent... Thanks so much sis Kim for these wonderful cling series studies they are so helpful because we see that in the Bible people dealt with the same issues that happens in today's world God was there then and he is here now. All praises be to God and our Lord Jesus Christ, GOD BLESS YOU see you soon

Amen, sis....the word of God does show us that the same issues happened then and we serve the same God. It's hard to read these disturbing chapters but I'm thankful that God can use even this to draw us near. Blessings to you!

I feel like I need a shower after this chapter, in fact 11-13. How repugnant my sin is to God. I am truly thankful for Jesus’ sacrifice on my behalf.

Oh my word! This is heart breaking. But we must search our own hearts before we say any more on the actions we've seen here. Great lesson, I'll definitely replay to catch all the references.

Great lesson.. For the wages of sin is death. We must know that sin will not go unpunished don’t think what we do God don’t see. Come to repentance he is faithful and just. We are not perfect, but God IS and he wants to help us with open arms. I was so mad at this chapter and what caused this. David did the same thing Eli did not punishing his sons. Love you Kim

GeJoan, I hadn't thought about the connection to Eli and his sons. So true. And I love that as you said, God is ready to help us with open arms. May we run to Him. Thankful for you, sis.

This was such a tragic event all around! I feel awful for this young lady because she suffered the loss of any future of a husband or children of her own! Not to mention grandchildren and beyond that even.
