Just listening to your voices is SO relaxing. I loved your chat about books while having a delicious treat. The roaring fire is very cozy. Thanks for such a great video to brighten a snowy day.
Hi Miranda and Donna another lovely video for a Friday tea time. My husband says I do all the planning and dreaming about the garden he does all the actual gardening but he also says he dreams of cake and biscuits and I bake them for him so he says we are the dream team or I am the jam and he is the clotted cream on the scones love Janet xx
Hi Miranda and Donna, yes a perfect weekend so far. I watched the ROH streaming of La Fille Mal Gardée then there was the virtual Yorkshire Yarn Fest and this afternoon a wonderful treat - Tea Reads with the most delicious looking lemon squares and one of my favourites Winifred Nicholson in Scotland. It may be raining outside but you have brought sunshine to my heart, thank you both. Teresa ❤️👩🏻🍳📚🏴❤️
Oh that sounds a lovely Saturday, Teresa! I noticed LFMG the other day & thought I’d have to stream it too. Thanks for your lovely comment. Hope the rest of your weekend is just as nice 😘
Another lovely video! Loved your selection of reads. I have the same children’s poetry anthology your mum read from, a childhood gift from my dad, which I still love very much.
My dad loves lemon squares, so I'll have to make some for us both to enjoy. That poem was so funny! The reading about the little posies is so lovely. That's one of my goals in life, a posy a day. Thank you so much for all you both do to make these videos.
Gardening in your head, posies in a jam jar, what an evocative tea reads this week 💫 I was listening to the birds at around 4.45 this evening, as they enjoyed the last bit of light of the day, it was such an uplifting sound, so to come in to your lemon squares, narcissi and delightful reads was a perfect way to end the week, I do feel quite energised, thank you 🥰 Love your mum’s jumper, fabulous colour 😍 Have a great weekend ladies, enjoy your birds and see you next week 😁
I look forward to Friday just to have a lovely bit of time to spend watching your video. I love to see what good friends you and your mum are. Your readings were so enjoyable. Thank you!
Thank you so much for a special start to the weekend. The lemon squares sound amazing and I am definitely going to try them over the weekend! I particularly enjoyed the Winifred Nicholson reading, thank you Donna. It reminded me so much of when we lived in the Western Isles; the timelessness and lack of communication from the outside world really resonated with my memories. This was as recently as the very early 1980’s, but pre-Internet, and the newspapers always arrived a day or two late on the ferry. Living on a small island away from the mainland one really felt almost entirely disconnected from the events of the outside world. By the way, the weather you describe at the beginning of your video : wet, cold and gloomy, is known as ‘a dreich day’ in Scotland! X
Such a wonderful way to begin my weekend. I so enjoy spending time with the both of you. The recipe, the books and the readings make me feel not just in good company with you and your subscribers but ready for a new read.
Great video as always! I loved in particular the Mirabelle Osler passage, it was not a book I was familiar with but I've made a note, sounds charming. Have a good weekend you two!
Thank you for another lovely tea reads episode. I picked up a lemon square yesterday and thought, I'll save it for tomorrow and join in with Miranda and her mum for tea. So it's extra special to be enjoying the same treat as you. Just the title--"Mr. Wrong"--adds an extra layer of eerie considering the conman Elizabeth Jane Howard fell for later on in her life. I have just begun her Cazalet chronicles and am intrigued now to pick up her short stories, too. I love the idea of cultivating a garden of thoughts--perhaps I'll finally discover a green thumb there. :)
What a brilliant coincidence! Lovely to think of you enjoying the same treat with us. I think I could have that kind of green thumb too 😂 Enjoy your weekend, Pamela! 😊
Your kitchen looked so bright, sunny and friendly! What a treat to watch! First, please tell your mom that she looked so pretty in her blouse and pearls! If only I looked so lovely when I bake in my kitchen - lol. Did you have a pony pin on your sweater? So cute. I am in love with anything lemon flavored and lemon squares are my favorite. You had me drooling the entire time! Thank you for the sweet gardening passages and for brightening up my day. You're helping me to get through the winter and isolation. Many hugs from New Hampshire xoxo :)
‘A Gentle Plea for Chaos: Reflections from an English Garden’ by Mirabel Osler and ‘Natural Selection: A Year in the Garden’ by Dan Pearson seem like enjoyable books. I appreciate the books you recommend. I have bought three books - Miss Plum and Miss Penny by Dorothy Evelyn Smith, Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher and Apple Bough by Noel Streatfeild. I’ve borrowed from the library, The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro, which I am absolutely enjoying (and I’m going to buy it, to put on my bookshelf). The baked lemon slice looked delicious. Thank you for another enjoyable vlog 🌻🍋
You both look darling in your sweaters. 🖤😊 Oh also, my Mom & I have started watching the old Marple series on BritBox! I was eager to try it after your recommendation and it's so cozy & addictive!
I love that, gardening of the mind! That is perfect! Have you read the Beverly Nichols books? I collected and just love them! Your mother looks lovely in her new top. V-Necks are so attractive for us older ladies. (Me, not you, Miranda.) Thank you.
Thanks so much, Cassandra! I think my mum looks lovely in her new top too! Yes, I’m a fan of Beverly Nichols too and have quite a few of his books. Enjoy your weekend 😊

I love your videos! I’m curious, how do you make your tea? It looks delicious!!! (I’m in America and tea for us is totally different!)
Thank you! Our most typical cup is a black breakfast tea (we like Yorkshire Tea) with a splash of milk ☕️🫖
Miranda Mills Thank you! I want to start making some when I watch these videos!! I love your channel❤️
