Knowing how and where to take a flake is one thing, but making the best from a flake that goes awry really tests your skills. Thanks for the explanations on your best options of logically going about handling a problem area. You're not just showing how to flint knap. You're also showing the use of patience and logic. p.s. - I would comment to your youtube videos more often but I usually watch them on a television, where commenting is not much of an option.
Thanks for the comment. I knew about not being able to comment from the TV but I've heard that some people can do it if they have a fancy remote. I dunno.
First snow in Ks this year also. Last I looked, they were saying 17 inches with icing before the snow. Be a week before there is much movement around here! Sorry about the weather report, Patrick!
This snow is crazy 🤪! Everyone south of me is getting lots of snow. Here in southeast Michigan we got very little snow, about 1". Be safe folks. Love the beginnings of this blade.....sweet!!!😮😊😊
Be very careful out there. A buddy of mine is driving to work in Cincinnati tonight. I'm sure we'll get bad snow soon here in Michigan. Looks like our lakes will be safe to ice fish by next weekend 😀 take care!
Yes, the aluminum is softer. I'm not sure how it would compare. It would probably be easier with direct percussion but more difficult with indirect percussion. I've forgotten most of my experience with aluminum.

How is it a copyright infringement on ancient technology? No one really knows exactly how it was done, at least not until I invent the time machine. And those little flakes are for "true" arrowheads, I mean "bird" points. Hmmm.
Eso es artesanía pura y dura 👍
Beauty. Thank you
Appreciate your dry wit, Jack.
Thanks

First comment. Live it when you post a video! We just got the first snow of Virgina.

I love obsidian :D
Jack, i teally like it when you work with dacite. You make me think i could make something out of thst material.
Really fun stuff, if you can work mahogany you can work dacite
39:45 you can do forearm curls and benching free weights, nothing extreme. It helped a ton after a couple months
I believe it
You can never have enough tools, especially a bopper handle that glows in the dark😁yup I did

5inches and half inch to inch of ice where I'm at in Kentucky. Where the Knobbs meet the Appalachian Mountains.

Oh my God , I Love large blades like this
Have a safe one we have 1st 2025 snow in nc
@@Rev.nighthawk..pjred1984 We got about an inch today.
It's not the valleys in life I fear so much as the dips.
Exactly
How do you think the aluminum you used to use 1:11:18 would perform ?
Softer ?

Curious if you ever have tried a larger diameter rod? Seems it would contact a larger area and might be better with fragile obsidian?
Oh yes. But for some reason, most Obsidian likes smaller-tipped tools.
Knapability vs Snapability?😊
It doesn't deserve to be knapped if it's going to end up snapped.
what is the diameter of the copper rod you are using for indirect percussion

The copyright complaints are from musicians, not knappers.
