Plenty of things can cause the powershell to fail, if you installed correctly, restarted your computer, and made sure to type the command prompt correctly, then I am unsure what is causing the problem, and as such unable to assist
The thing I'm not getting is I 'm getting error 76, but I think the problem may be how I typed the thing in, so I tried to recreate what you did at 4:05 but cant find out what you did to get the name of your folder to appear instantly...
Just double checking, you have the correct directory setup correct? Error 76 typically happens due to some issue with the directory, so make sure the powershell window is in the correct spot. Let me know if this helps
Not for retro rewind, thats done through riivolution and adds onto a normal mkwii iso file. Here is what what my friend and I do for retro rewind for netplay: 1. Make sure we have the same version of it. 2. When in dolphin and doing "start with riivolution patches", set all of the settings to be identical to each other. Then, save it as a preset, and make sure to give an identical name (it is case specific) for the preset. 3. When starting a netplay session, use the new json file that has been created This method works for all riivolution distributions (so mario kart midnight as well). Just make sure everything is identical across both devices.

Doies file paths have to be identical as well? ION terms of locations because i have mine is documents where as one of my friends have it in App Data.
@@nizzystorm7067 file paths don't need to be identical, but pretty much everything else does. It can be a pain, but every aspect needs to be identical. So they need the same content, same name, same file size, same patches and settings applied, same version of the patches, etc. It's hard to troubleshoot, but idk another method.
@@-Comet. I think all 3 of us have different file sizes when we just created the file the same way with the same files. I know we both have Retro Rewind Enabled and Everything Inside Drift Enabled as well. This is such a hassle. Do the MK WII ROM's need to be the same dump/file extension as well. Because i use a different one to my friends, (I scanned it in Dolphin i have a "Good dump" the others have a "bad dump") but for vanilla it works fine regardless. So I'm questioning this out of curiosity but it shouldn't matter i'd imagine.

My friend and I typically send eachother our modded versions using google drive so unfortunately, I don't think I can help here. All I know is that netplay is very finnicky about having identical files, my friend and I have struggles with it sometimes
Not sure what the old way is, but this is a tutorial on making your own custom distribution. If the goal is to play something like midnight or retro rewind, its a different process using riivolution. Retro Rewind in particular has an install tutorial document when you download it.
The dolphin games folder is just the path I use for locating iso files in Dolphin Emulator, you can make a folder and create a path throigh dolphin emulator itself. I'm not quite sure why your disc file shows up as a disc image, so I'd recommend watching a tutorial on extracting a wii disc to pc. (You could also get one from a rom site like vimms, but this isn't technically legal)

I have a few guesses n how to solve this, let me know if any work. 1. Your account lacks permissions to create files, try using one with administrator permissions 2. Wit got installed incorrectly, try installing again 3. There's a typo in the creation of the file, make sure that the ` symbols are surrounding only the iso file, nothing else. If none of these work, then I'm not sure what the issue is
Tmp means temp file, this means the process is incomplete. Try to ensure that the process is complete by giving the program an extra few seconds before you close it. You can also try refreshing the containing folder and seeing if the tmp file disappears, if it doesn't then the process never completed. And ofc, always make sure that Dolphin has access to the folder containing isos. I've messed that up a lot, as moving stuff around (or, in my case, renaming folders) causes dolphin to lose the path. If this happens, just edit the dolphin config and make a new path.
2 possible reasons I can think of: 1. You didn't save the hex edit, just do ctrl + s (I believe it should be command s on mac, not certain) 2. You never properly reseales the iso. Ensure that you copy the folder, and you aren't duplicating the iso. If neither of these work, let me know

Maybe making the file into a single string of letters (something like ModdedMarioKart), the program is inconsistent when spaces are involved. If there's still a problem, let me know and I'll try to help
@@r3df0x41 Hmmmm... not certain. There's a few ideas I've thought of since my last reply 1. There's no admin privileges on the account you're trying to use 2. The file you're using isn't compatible with the program I used. If using a nkit file, I believe there are nkit converters, but I'm not fully aware of that type of thing. You could always try to download an iso file from the internet, though I'm not gonna link anything for that. 3. I doubt it's this, but maybe you didn't define the path for the file you're trying to access. Make sure it's showing up in the command.

@@r3df0x41 Sorry to hear that. I have 3 more ideas that could potentially help. 1. Maybe your antivirus is conflicting with wit. There's a chance that allowing wit to run as an exception could fix this, though I'm not sure how likely this is. 2. Wit didn't install correctly, so maybe try reinstalling? (I doubt this if you got error 76, but it's worth trying) 3. I think dolphin emulator does have a way to unzip iso files, though I do not personally have any experience with it. You can try looking into that. If none of these work, then I'm not sure what the issue is, so I'm not able to help. If you want to play custom tracks and don't care about particular ones, there's something called Mario Kart Midnight that has plenty in it. I've never played this, but I heard it's well made.

It's telling you that it expected to recieve a command, and instead it recieved the term "mario", which is not listed as a command. The most common fix is to re-open the powershell window, and ensure you type the command exactly correct. So either "Wit copy" or "Wit extract", depending on the step you are on.

if you open up powershell on the same page your folder is in and press tab it should cycle through your folders/files

Would this work with files from things like Retro Rewind? So the game aswell as the mod is one iso file that could also be used for Netplay?

I have an ntsc copy sold in canada, will this be the right rom?

My maio wart wii is a wbfs file. I can't find a mario kart wii iso file for the life of me. Do you know where to find one?

Seems like a you problem tbh. How do you even lose that? Is it even showing up in dolphin? If not, use vimms or something.

Delete the spaces in the file name and then in powershell and try again, I don't know why but that fixed this problem for me.
