I think the problem with Adam is how other characters referred to him before he actually appeared. You are completely correct that before Volume 3, he was a total non-entity and the crazy ex boyfriend is his establishing characteristic, but Blake specifically talks about his time as an overly-driven, violent white fang member with no mention of the obsessed stalker thing. They build him up to be a badass when in fact he's kind of just a creep.
He also didn’t give a fuck about Blake, based on how he reacts during the flashback where Cinder strong arms him and his men into working for her, telling the chainsaw guy to “forget it” when he claims they’ll find her.
Holy shit your actually right about the whole team SSSN team why didn't they base the other members off the other characters from journey to the west? You could had Sun (Wukong), Scarlet (Pigsy) Sage( Tripitaka) Neptune (Sandy) hell you even could have made Scarlet and Neptune a boar faunus and Shark faunus respectively (Which would have made the Neptune afraid of water even more ironic) and kept Sage a human missed opportunity CRWBY, missed opportunity.

The thing is... if they didn't give Adam dialogue and have him as an imposing, quiet figure in the trailer, then he could've been a formidable future character. But they made him talk. And keep talking. And all of the badassery we saw in the trailer felt like a fever dream lol like whose man is this and wherever you got him, at least get him a better outfit No shade to the voice actor, with enough polish and better direction, I can see them doing better with more outspoken characters instead of trying really hard to brood.

His involvement gave stakes to mission, a potential danger to team 7, and the fact that they could die before advancing. Adam was kinda... I mean he was there. Swish swish bye arm. And uh yeah. If they wanted to go the abusive ex route, fine, do so, just don't make him be so comically powerful and involved in a race war you have no idea how to write, yknow? I can't remember if it was Twiins or Critter who made the Adam centric video but they were right: whatever idea we had of Adam isn't canon and will never be so it's better to just take his canon as fact in the show. The fans are free to take him and put their spin on him as much as they want. Which is a far better use of everyone's time than being disappointed in writers who aren't coherent or consistent with their plot lines. No offense to them as I'm sure they could write, but I'm not sure they knew what to do with Adam that'd fit in with their jigsaw of a plot

Personally, I don't like Whitley, I don't hate him but he was kind of a non-character for me. That said, I think Willow saying she left him alone was in regards to her leaving for Beacon, the same way Winter abandoned them to join the military, rather than her running away in V4

I also don't like the character design is literally a genderbent Weis I know her family has dominant features but they carbon copies of each other even the man who married into this family I feel like to show that they are opposing Weiss her father and brother should have looked different and not had any of the schnee traits
I can definitely agree with most of the points made here. The only one I'd disagree with is Neo who I personally like if only because she acted as a pretty cool boss fight in Volumes 2 and 3 plus her semblance is neat; as a character though she isn't much and they really shouldn't have bought her back, she worked best as the brawn part of her duo with Torchwick.
Yeah, Torchwick really was the personality of the duo, and she complimented him really well and kind of enhanced his presence even more. Plus it kind of makes sense Roman would have a skilled fighter as a partner since he's the brains, not the brawn. Don't get me wrong, Roman is pretty skilled with his cane and people do downplay him a little, but he simply lacks the versatility required to go toe to toe with people who had proper advanced training in using dust and aura, plus he has no semblance. Roman had aura, but he didn't know how to weaponize it, or dust, the way other characters do, and so he cannot counter such techniques when used against him. Thus Neo was a good partner for him.
@@dreadrath I feel the same both in their own right bounce-off of each other like a literal bonnie and clyde in a way. Both compensated for the others strength and weakness. Which is why i felt more of an attachment to how perfect Neo is with Torchwick rather then with Cinder.

I don't even like Bumblebee as a ship at all because I personally feel like they fundamentally aren't good for each other romantically as the story has written them, but it actually pisses me off even more that RT won't explicitly say that they are together. Sure, I wish they weren't but it is pretty clear at this point that they are so they really need to stop dragging this out for literally no reason and just confirm it ffs. RT claims to support LGBTQ+ people and stories and it's not like they are censored by a network that wont let them tell those stories so WHY are the bees still so ambiguous??? Maybe if they actually did something worthwhile with Blake and Yang's relationship I'd change my mind and actually like it bc my biggest problem is how it's been written up to this point so actually boldly diving into their relationship to show how they're good together would actually help! I actually hate how I don't love them since I am a lesbian who really wants to see good wlw on screen. It just baffles me how RWBY can simultaneously make me hate a gay ship while also hating the fact that they aren't leaning into it enough.
TBH Its almost as if they don't know how to write a Gay relationship. At times I feel like Blake and Yang are in a made up superficial relationship just for brownie points. But strangely enough as my friend said about their relationship, *"It dented their characters"* . If they don't know what too do with their relationship except drag on like they are still in 1st base, why do they even bother with it in the first place.
It seems to me that they want to be partnered with companies that may not like LGBTQ+ representation. So by acting neutral, they try to make both parties happy, which ironically, does the opposite.

Not only have they made all of the LGBT characters side characters or minor villains, but Miles has been on record saying he wouldn't mind if his then girlfriend cheated on him with a woman right in front of him. They also work in an environment known for rampant misogyny and racism so I highly doubt they are the allies they call themselves to be.

I like Neo, but my only hope for her in the future is that she doesn’t perma-join the team. Im imagining she’s gonna have to team up with everyone else who fell to get out of the other world or wherever they are, but I hope they go their separate ways once they’re out. Neo realizes Roman’s death wasn’t Ruby’s fault during the time in the other world so she doesn’t join Salem but she also doesn’t join RWBY. Just have her leave and become a mercenary or the next master thief of Vale or something. On another note, I am one of the Whitley fans, and I will keep saying he has a lot of potential, but not in the actual story. Whitley has mad fanfiction potential.
If NEO joins Team RWBY officially and permanently I will be so upset. You can't make a character's entire schtick be "I want revenge for my partner" and then just... not do it. I would much prefer Neo spend the literal entire time trying to kill team RWBY like a scooby-doo villain being always one step ahead of them as they try to escape.
This weird pronunciation could also be completely avoided if they stick to the journey of the West theme and name them West they're also from vacchio which is in the West. they're in purpose for being in Beacon it's similar to The inciting plot in Journey to the West. in the book tripitaka has to retrieve some enlightening Scrolls and show them to his homeland in the East. team sssn is going to Beacon to fight in a tournament and win and come back home. Is the same going to a far-off land to retrieve a MacGuffin and coming back home. the only problem is that is now sun isn't leader and honestly I never got that vibe from him I was surprised that he was a leader. there was some pretty good build-up and they dropped the ball
I liked Neo when she was first introduced and when she was with Torchwick. She was a fun side character with a cute design. I just wish that she had died with Torchwick because she was just his accomplice. She’s boring now.

I have never been so insulted by something I 100% agree with. In all actual honesty though, I love how this is just some reasonable points intermixed with inflammatory language and faux-anger. Its the perfect representation of what fandom members sometimes say you're like even though you're not. Regardless, it very cathartic. That said, I will die on the NEO hill. I don't care if she even wins a fight again I just want to see her troll people with her acrobatic fighting style. I also like Whitly but I'm starting to think I am really desperate for likable and good characters in a show so resolute in either inadvertenly making them evil or about as nuanced a brick wall (or both).

I don't even like Bumblebee,but they really should just rip the band aid off at this point.It's to the point that this back and forth just makes them seem annoying,especially in Vol.8.This girl Yang was more worried about Blake being mad at her instead of her own sister,and before that when they were trying g to escape the Apathy,this girl has the audacity to make sure her cat bitch is safe first.It's grueling to watch.
The thing about the white fang is that the idea that the main characters don’t really care about changing the status quo COULD be interesting, if the characters had to grapple with their worldview, and possibly even having some characters break off from the “main party” so to speak based off differences in ideology. You know… kinda like how a GOOD show would do.
The "Neo" segment really hit me because I remembered the time where I lowkey used to put her in a pedestal and actually got mad when she was hit by Oscar, lmao. But yeah, as much as I like her design and fighting style, I whole heartedly agree that they shouldn't have brought her back at all. She serves pretty much no purpose in the story now that Tortchwick is gone
I loved Neo because her fights were really fun and her style still has yet to be matched by any character. Her color palette is also a mix of my favorite colors and her being mute isn't a problem to the others, in fact she even is more funny than most of the cast at times and she doesn't even have a voice.

My only two complaints with Adam is they tied his story with the white fang and botched it. The second being after seeing him tell his lieutenant not to chase down Blake I found it odd he would sacrifice his ambition later just to get back at her.
Neo was fun in the early volumes, but now that she's a major character and the fight scenes took a downgrade, she sucks now. Honestly, I almost quit RWBY because they brought Penny back so badly. To be fair to the Whitley fans, Qrow can handle a huntress student pointing her sword at him. Whitley's a civilian. And they were just talking about beating the crap out of Cardin too. Oh look, an excuse to do that.

I honestly like the Team name being “Season” it fits more, I don’t really care about Blake’s overall designs simply because I really don’t care about Blake as a character having said that her Volume 7/8 hair does look stupid, Adam had absolutely no reason to be in Volume 6 him being taken out like a complete schmuck at the end of Volume 5 should’ve been the last we see of him but we don’t because.. reasons, I honestly do like Neo (mainly for her fighting style) but I would’ve been fine if she didn’t come back, My ultimate problem with Penny dying again is where and how she died, she never expressed a desire to be human and she was perfectly willing to sacrifice herself prior to that everyone else just ignored her so it feels like they took a dump on the whole “choice” aspect of her character, aside from that I’m just “meh” on the whole thing, it is complete crap they play her resurrection off as a joke though, It seems like characters can’t interact with each other in any meaningful capacity without people thinking they want to bone, this isn’t just specific to RWBY either, I honestly don’t care about Blake or Yang’s relationship but at the very least they could have one of them say “I love you” just to get it out of the way, none of this stringing along stuff, It’s really fucked up that they all sat aside and did nothing while Velvet was picked on, even Blake who’s big character trait is her hating Faunus being treated like trash and yeah it is weird how the whole subplot just.. ends.

If I am supposed to believe what I hear, then wouldn't #1 be the toxicity or volatility of the FNDM? Even within this video there are cases of parts the fandom being overbearing, from obsessing over individual characters to obsessing over the idea of relationships between characters. There is also the tension between the critics and the non critics. However, this seems to be a can of worms that is already open and no one wishes to deal with.

in defense of whitley i remember being upset because i just felt that double standard of whitley being a child of abuse and he was treated worse in both the narrative the fandom and it felt like it was only because he wasn't a cute girl. (i dont remember if they ever had any flashbacks with the schnees so literally everything about the family is just headcanons so anything else i say is moot lol) im not even a whitley fan but i did think it was interesting to see a story of someone who decided to "side" with the abuser and being able to leave but when again its rooster teeth we're talking about ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. also i hate that weiss' mom essentially blamed her and doesn't take responsibility. whitley was an asshole and weiss didn't need to be nice to him. i dont side with people who say she's a bad sister, she needs to save herself especially since whitley wasn't gonna change until he literally lost everything

I know that you are kind of exaggerating in the anger part for laughs, but this makes valid criticism of the show itself for most of it. A thing I am hoping for is that the writers acknowledge these issues the show has and improve, especially since it has been going on for years now. A part of me wants to think they have a reason because of circumstance with poor management skills and focus to show what they want to try and tell, but then there are decisions that really should not have been made or should change and just makes the situation even more difficult. Penny death again, Faunus issues, and Bumble Bee setup really are the biggest for me. I also like the little name change for this from the previous videos and it is really funny.
As someone who has spent a lot of time on the internet I am so glad to hear someone else saying that it's okay for characters to be FRIENDS and care about each other without trying to force some kinda romantic relationship between them. It must be so tiring having that mindset. Also I agree that the whole White Fang thing was very poorly handled and honestly it could have been so much better from the beginning. Adam and/or Torchwick could have been on Salem's council so she could have been introduced early, and one or both of them could have been manipulating the White Fang to move away from peaceful protests about racial equality to more extremist actions to foster more negative feelings to lead to more Grimm attacks. The members would have seen it as a drastic shift by their leaders and some of them could have questioned it but still had the majority go along with the plans thinking that it would lead to change when in reality they were just being used by Salem in the background. However we could have had them realize what was going on a lot sooner than volume 5 and lay down their arms after realizing that Adam was bananas and didnt have their best interest at heart, and this could have led to Adam's mental breakdown and his stalking of Blake. His failure and loss of the WF could have put him on Salem's bad side, expelling him from the council and possibly using some of those enemies that just sit around doing nothing to go hunt him down, and he could have seen Blake's father and their families more peaceful views on the whole situation as the reason he lost the support of the Faunis, leading to him hunting down Blake in revenge against her father. Then in all those scenes where the group is just sitting around there could be news broadcasts or papers or even people talking about how the WF disbanded and the Faunis are taking new strides with people to improve racial standing. It doesnt have to be in the foreground but you can still carry it along in the background. Idk it's a starting point but like you said taking the ideas of a white guy who hasn't tried to deal with these feelings and situations before might not be the best place to start on an entire racism plotline.
I'm don't agree. I would fit the Whitley was abused by Jaques, I'm mean he made his 2 daughters out of the manor and wanted nothing to do with him and drove his wife to drinking. It would be weird for him to go 3 for 4 instead of 4 for 4. And the whole picture or favorites thing is a common tactic used by abusive parents to turn their kids against each other. And it doesn't mean the kid perceived as the favorite isn't being abused as well.

The thing is... if they didn't give Adam dialogue and have him as an imposing, quiet figure in the trailer, then he could've been a formidable future character. But they made him talk. And keep talking. And all of the badassery we saw in the trailer felt like a fever dream lol like whose man is this and wherever you got him, at least get him a better outfit
No shade to the voice actor, with enough polish and better direction, I can see them doing better with more outspoken characters instead of trying really hard to brood.

If they wanted to go the abusive ex route, fine, do so, just don't make him be so comically powerful and involved in a race war you have no idea how to write, yknow? I can't remember if it was Twiins or Critter who made the Adam centric video but they were right: whatever idea we had of Adam isn't canon and will never be so it's better to just take his canon as fact in the show. The fans are free to take him and put their spin on him as much as they want. Which is a far better use of everyone's time than being disappointed in writers who aren't coherent or consistent with their plot lines. No offense to them as I'm sure they could write, but I'm not sure they knew what to do with Adam that'd fit in with their jigsaw of a plot

I can definitely agree with most of the points made here. The only one I'd disagree with is Neo who I personally like if only because she acted as a pretty cool boss fight in Volumes 2 and 3 plus her semblance is neat; as a character though she isn't much and they really shouldn't have bought her back, she worked best as the brawn part of her duo with Torchwick.
Yeah, Torchwick really was the personality of the duo, and she complimented him really well and kind of enhanced his presence even more. Plus it kind of makes sense Roman would have a skilled fighter as a partner since he's the brains, not the brawn. Don't get me wrong, Roman is pretty skilled with his cane and people do downplay him a little, but he simply lacks the versatility required to go toe to toe with people who had proper advanced training in using dust and aura, plus he has no semblance. Roman had aura, but he didn't know how to weaponize it, or dust, the way other characters do, and so he cannot counter such techniques when used against him. Thus Neo was a good partner for him.

@@dreadrath I feel the same both in their own right bounce-off of each other like a literal bonnie and clyde in a way. Both compensated for the others strength and weakness. Which is why i felt more of an attachment to how perfect Neo is with Torchwick rather then with Cinder.

I don't even like Bumblebee as a ship at all because I personally feel like they fundamentally aren't good for each other romantically as the story has written them, but it actually pisses me off even more that RT won't explicitly say that they are together. Sure, I wish they weren't but it is pretty clear at this point that they are so they really need to stop dragging this out for literally no reason and just confirm it ffs. RT claims to support LGBTQ+ people and stories and it's not like they are censored by a network that wont let them tell those stories so WHY are the bees still so ambiguous??? Maybe if they actually did something worthwhile with Blake and Yang's relationship I'd change my mind and actually like it bc my biggest problem is how it's been written up to this point so actually boldly diving into their relationship to show how they're good together would actually help! It just baffles me how RWBY can simultaneously make me hate a gay ship while also hating the fact that they aren't leaning into it enough.
TBH Its almost as if they don't know how to write a Gay relationship. At times I feel like Blake and Yang are in a made up superficial relationship just for brownie points. But strangely enough as my friend said about their relationship, *"It dented their characters"* . If they don't know what too do with their relationship except drag on like they are still in 1st base, why do they even bother with it in the first place.
It seems to me that they want to be partnered with companies that may not like LGBTQ+ representation. So by acting neutral, they try to make both parties happy, which ironically, does the opposite.

They also work in an environment known for rampant misogyny and racism so I highly doubt they are the allies they call themselves to be.

I like Neo, but my only hope for her in the future is that she doesn’t perma-join the team. Im imagining she’s gonna have to team up with everyone else who fell to get out of the other world or wherever they are, but I hope they go their separate ways once they’re out. Neo realizes Roman’s death wasn’t Ruby’s fault during the time in the other world so she doesn’t join Salem but she also doesn’t join RWBY. Just have her leave and become a mercenary or the next master thief of Vale or something.
On another note, I am one of the Whitley fans, and I will keep saying he has a lot of potential, but not in the actual story. Whitley has mad fanfiction potential.
If NEO joins Team RWBY officially and permanently I will be so upset. You can't make a character's entire schtick be "I want revenge for my partner" and then just... not do it. I would much prefer Neo spend the literal entire time trying to kill team RWBY like a scooby-doo villain being always one step ahead of them as they try to escape.

This weird pronunciation could also be completely avoided if they stick to the journey of the West theme and name them West they're also from vacchio which is in the West. they're in purpose for being in Beacon it's similar to The inciting plot in Journey to the West. in the book tripitaka has to retrieve some enlightening Scrolls and show them to his homeland in the East. team sssn is going to Beacon to fight in a tournament and win and come back home. Is the same going to a far-off land to retrieve a MacGuffin and coming back home. the only problem is that is now sun isn't leader and honestly I never got that vibe from him I was surprised that he was a leader. there was some pretty good build-up and they dropped the ball
I liked Neo when she was first introduced and when she was with Torchwick. She was a fun side character with a cute design. I just wish that she had died with Torchwick because she was just his accomplice. She’s boring now.

I loved Neo because her fights were really fun and her style still has yet to be matched by any character. Her color palette is also a mix of my favorite colors and her being mute isn't a problem to the others, in fact she even is more funny than most of the cast at times and she doesn't even have a voice.

My only two complaints with Adam is they tied his story with the white fang and botched it. The second being after seeing him tell his lieutenant not to chase down Blake I found it odd he would sacrifice his ambition later just to get back at her.

I know that you are kind of exaggerating in the anger part for laughs, but this makes valid criticism of the show itself for most of it. A thing I am hoping for is that the writers acknowledge these issues the show has and improve, especially since it has been going on for years now. A part of me wants to think they have a reason because of circumstance with poor management skills and focus to show what they want to try and tell, but then there are decisions that really should not have been made or should change and just makes the situation even more difficult. Penny death again, Faunus issues, and Bumble Bee setup really are the biggest for me. I also like the little name change for this from the previous videos and it is really funny.

As someone who has spent a lot of time on the internet I am so glad to hear someone else saying that it's okay for characters to be FRIENDS and care about each other without trying to force some kinda romantic relationship between them. It must be so tiring having that mindset.
Also I agree that the whole White Fang thing was very poorly handled and honestly it could have been so much better from the beginning. Adam and/or Torchwick could have been on Salem's council so she could have been introduced early, and one or both of them could have been manipulating the White Fang to move away from peaceful protests about racial equality to more extremist actions to foster more negative feelings to lead to more Grimm attacks. The members would have seen it as a drastic shift by their leaders and some of them could have questioned it but still had the majority go along with the plans thinking that it would lead to change when in reality they were just being used by Salem in the background. However we could have had them realize what was going on a lot sooner than volume 5 and lay down their arms after realizing that Adam was bananas and didnt have their best interest at heart, and this could have led to Adam's mental breakdown and his stalking of Blake. His failure and loss of the WF could have put him on Salem's bad side, expelling him from the council and possibly using some of those enemies that just sit around doing nothing to go hunt him down, and he could have seen Blake's father and their families more peaceful views on the whole situation as the reason he lost the support of the Faunis, leading to him hunting down Blake in revenge against her father. Then in all those scenes where the group is just sitting around there could be news broadcasts or papers or even people talking about how the WF disbanded and the Faunis are taking new strides with people to improve racial standing. It doesnt have to be in the foreground but you can still carry it along in the background. Idk it's a starting point but like you said taking the ideas of a white guy who hasn't tried to deal with these feelings and situations before might not be the best place to start on an entire racism plotline.
I'm don't agree. I would fit the Whitley was abused by Jaques, I'm mean he made his 2 daughters out of the manor and wanted nothing to do with him and drove his wife to drinking. It would be weird for him to go 3 for 4 instead of 4 for 4. And the whole picture or favorites thing is a common tactic used by abusive parents to turn their kids against each other. And it doesn't mean the kid perceived as the favorite isn't being abused as well.
