Also having fun with the game. Rule book is ok, I just wing it if no rule. I do wish there were more event cards and while the treasure/crafting is interesting, but after 6 missions, the lack of variety begins to show. I give it about a 7/10 score. Plan to keep, as it's very thematic and playing Orcs is fun. Few dates they announced in the KS 9/7 update. Bacon and Eggs Conspiracy Campaign (October Target - missed it), One-Shot Rules (November - still some time), Battle Arena Mode (December), The Shadow over Ratsmouth Campaign (January)

Yeah it sounds like we're of a similar mindset towards the game. I feel like they need to include rules for nerfing your progression a bit. Like the rule they mentioned about possibly limiting the amount of skill gains to one per scenario and possibly a limit to how many krafts you can do. I'm hoping that the one shot rules will make a difference when they come out but it still doesn't address the campaign.. Very fun game nonetheless, I just hope for it to be as great of a game as it could be..

I remember when I first saw this game, I thought it was the coolest idea ever and I really loved the idea of having enemy tokens that you can shuffle and randomize, and then place into rooms in random places, facing random directions. I still love this idea. But then I got the game and saw how many tokens there were. Took the game over a friends house and we did the first three missions. Going through all of the tokens in order to find JUST the peasants and the dogs to randomize them for the first mission made it so that the initial set up took longer than the game itself.

Yeah you definitely have to have a system for keeping the tokens organized. If you don't have access to a 3d printer then one of those Plano tackle box trays would be pretty helpful. I'm still keeping an eye out for an insert that I'll want to print for this. There are some pretty neat ones I've seen though for holding the minis and tokens.

That is a very thorough and honest review that gives equal weight to the positive and negative aspects of the game. The rules ambiguities and, even more, the lack of support from the publisher and designer, reflect very poorly on them. Unfortunately this is all too common. I hope they did a better job with Ragnarok, which I’m currently awaiting.

Hey, glad you found it a fair review! I hope things do go well for you with Ragnarok. I'm not ready to completely write off the company yet but I hope they do find a way to allot some more of their resources to finishing this game and supporting the people who supported them by purchasing it. Otherwise it's just going to come off as a quick money grab, purchase and resale-as-is production of the game without any of their own design input to actually complete it. We'll have to see how they go forward from here but it has definitely given me pause for future games with their name on it..

Thanks for this. We broke it open & started playing recently, & it's good fun. But there's a LOT of ambiguity over some situations, such as what you described with Mandar's magic attack, or such as if an alert enemy flees into a spawn area or enemies have an action relying on line of sight on a previously seen hero whose since gone out of their LOS. Heroquest reissue (which this is obviously influenced by) may be relatively simple but sometimes there's value in that. Don't regret buying it as it's good, but our HQ nights definitely flow easier & quicker

Hey, thanks for watching! I will say I think this game is quite a bit of fun even considering its flaws. It's one that I would like to get into more. I need to see what all they've updated with the rules since I last checked..

Can’t wait to get mine to the table still. Thanks for the heads up on some of the issues. They’ve been slow on a lot of things. My Sewer Fever Chapter book showed up with mangled and ripped pages inside the book straight out of the box. At first I wasn’t too worried about it as I figured it would be a simple replacement. Over a month into it and I’ve just finally gotten a response to numerous inquiries. The response is not currently “we will get you a replacement right out”, it’s “I don’t know what you are talking about without a picture”. Every time I’ve tried to send a picture I get an “undeliverable” bounce back. Ugh!

Hey, thank you for watching! I hope you don't have many issues getting your replacement going forward. It really is a fun game though. If you can get past their issues in the rulebook I think you'll still have a great time with it!

Don't worry, that you never played HeroQuest! In this millenium, there is no need for that anymore. IMHO Orcquest did evolve quite a bit from its inspiration. I did only play the first mission, but I did find it not very exciting. It wasn't bad, but neither really fun or, as I said before, exciting.
But I had fun with your review 👍

I'm glad you enjoyed the review! I can definitely see where this could be a personal preference thing. For some reason I get really excited about orcs and more so if I get to play as them, haha. The first mission is super easy, I think just to give you time to learn the mechanisms and flow. It was still fairly easy on the second but by the third mission it really got hairy and there was indeed a lot of excitement in that one! I otherwise just enjoyed sneaking around on those first two.

How did you decide to organize your boxes. No instructions for what to place where??? Very annoying! Great video!

I agree, it is annoying when they don't give you a guide.. I don't think they really had a plan for storage other than to just put a bunch of spaces in the insert and let you decide where to put them. I put the tokens I'd be using each game into the smaller removable tray. I put the cards grouped together with their pack/inventory list cards to keep them organized in the larger trays and I put all of the square tokens separated by expansion into those thinner tray slots with the width for them. I keep the smaller map tiles in the dice tray and stack the bigger ones together. One box only holds miniatures and the other has some too with the rest of the inserts.

There is still no support or FAQ....

Man, that's a shame.. I keep meaning to get it back out but I would have hoped they would have treated their backers better by now with some real support.. All you can really do is remember it for future campaigns and whether to back or not.
