Transport For Wales Class 230 D-Trains at Bidston

Two Class 230 trains call at Bidston Station which is also served by Wirral line Merseyrail Class 777 trains travelling between Liverpool and West Kirby.
Class 230 trains are former London Underground District line subsurface D stock trains which were converted and up-scaled for second lives by the former company called Vivarail..
There is also a short still image slideshow looking inside the trains.
These trains are used on the route between Bidston and Wrexham, only some journeys use them - other journeys use different trains.
Much went wrong when filming this - the train that came first was running early and I was looking in the opposite direction in anticipation of the other train. I had rainwater on my camera lens and some of the footage is somewhat unsteady.

Very nice. Great Western Railway are to trial the battery-powered Class 230 on the West Ealing-Greenford line at some stage this year.

Surely it's time that branch became part of the Elizabeth line??

Don’t think so. But London Overground could have taken over the Greenford branch line (with possible electrification as well).

Very smart internals, and externally spotless. It is a pity about their poor reliability- perhaps if Vivarail had kept them as straight electrics (with a Merseyrail 3rd. rail extension to Wrexham- wishful, I know) or battery as per the GWR units, the company may have kept solvent.
This is the first video that I have seen with 2 units in a station so a great capture.

Why dont they do these conversions but for the underground itself?

Tfl wants automated trains and it's difficult to implement ATO on existing trains that were made for manual use. Plus there's no point refurbishing them completely if they won't get ATO out of it.
