One of my all-time favorite art books ever! I was lucky in that Capcom US was in my hometown. Growing up I had friends whose parents worked there, and later (around the time this was published) a friend of mine was there. My circle of art friends were all about the Capcom art. I can't remember her name off the top of my head now, but there was one staff artist in particular at Capcom in the late 80s early 90s who had such an insanely great style it more or less became the house style by the late 90s.

wow are you kidding me>? That is so cool! Like I said. without my friends at Wildstorm it would have taken me a long time to realize a book like this even existed!

@@RichardFriendartist Yeah, honestly I feel so lucky growing up when and where I did (San Jose, childhood in the 80s, teenage 90s), lots of cool stuff around that area for comic and pop culture nerds. In Japantown there was (still is!) a general goods import shop called Nikkaku AniMart that always had far more amazing import art books than I could ever possibly afford. I got the Capcom books there, Shirow's Intron Depot books, this amazing Bastard! (Why did this series never take off here?) art book, Kia Asyama Dark Angel books before CPM was publishing it here, etc... ah, sorry for all the reminiscing, this book does inspire a lot of good memories.

Awesome stuff -- if you're ever interested, they re-published many of those Capcom books with sewn bindings that are far superior to the glue (which as you know cracks over time). It would be great to have Brian Bolland on, see what he has to say about making digital art look indistinguishable from traditional.

You've got to get Bolland on the channel. I'd really love you guys to go over his inspirations and favourite artists. I know he was a big fan of Sydney Jordan and the Jeff Hawke stuff. That guy could illustrate anything in black ink. So damn good.

Is there a later edition of this book? Or perhaps an alternative? I want to get my hands on any art book done by Bengus.

    Oh suggestions, you say?
    :D
Matthieu Bonnhome ("Lucky Luke"- I think you'd enjoy that) or Simone Di Meo (very stylish)

I love Capcom's characters and art. I got this book twice. The first one was ending up like this. So I needed one inking condition for the shelf.

Regarding your request for suggestions, how about mid-century commercial artist and teacher Andrew Loomis, and his modern day comics incarnation Steve Rude?

I would love to see you do a video about Daniel Di Nicuolo, I really liked his work on the Power Rangers comics. I would also love to see you cover a bit of Adam Kubert, especially his work on the Ultimate X-men comics.
