Common for Asian culture to cook/work and eat on the floor. I enjoy it. Sometimes its nicer when you lay out a mat and start prepping things to cook. Maybe cause I was raised that way lol. I find it relaxing. It is nice when you have a big group and you're eating together too.
I can see how it's nice and relaxing, it's just another one of those things that is just a lil different. I appreciate it tho, it's cool to see things done differently
Sitting on the porch as westerners could call it and doing this kind of stuff is quite normal in Asian culture, especially Korean. These hanok houses are very functional in their layouts and usage of space.
Koreans do a lot of activities on the ground. Traditionally you sleep on the floor with blankets, sit on the floor while eating, etc. Most homes having under floor radiant heating called "ondol". Nowadays it's either electric or water based, it use to be heated with a large fire/stove outside with the heat snaking throughout the floor underneath. Kind of like a chimney but horizontal so much of the heat is captured.
Oh right on, that all makes sense. I think sitting on the floor with others feels more community building in a weird way. I think it's cool, just different than what I'm used to
I loved how momo always carry her dogs boo and dobby and make appearances in TTT
