Unless you have a split personality. Truly! I finally decided I have to go with my own sense of goodness for sanities sake. By 68 I trust who I am. I'm far from perfect...but I could no longer do mental gymnastics in regard to the God of the Bible being Holy. Esp in the OT. The book is much too man-made in many parts (in regards to God) for it to be Devine to me. Of course that led me to learning about how and why it was both canonized, altered in different ways throughout history (with whole sections eventually left out); to finally decide it was not the devine book many religious people might believe it to be. Of course I finally realized how few Christians had actually read the entire book. No wonder they didn't have concerns about those things. They don't even know many of those things are in there. Amazing when you think about that...since it is the book so many human beings blindly accept as the "perfect word of God," in regards to the salvation of their souls for eternity. 😢 No offense to others beliefs, but that sounds schizophrenic to me. Can you please talk about the Jewish Torah? Your research and presentation is so good. The Torah is a huge undertaking to write. The scribe has to go into a state of deep meditation before each day's work. They then have to carefully copy one letter at a time on the one long scroll. Even if the scroll is near complete, any mistake renders it unusable and the scroll must be restarted. Please note that my ex partner was Jewish so I am only remembering what I was told. There was an idea that there was one letter, an 'r' I think, that Yahweh deliberately left out from its place in the Torah. This was because if the 'r' was put in its place the whole of our reality would be revealed. I'm just writing as I think. Sorry for lack of structure. I always had a problem with the plagues in Exodus. The Egyptians were very cruel to the Israelites. Moses kept asking the Pharaoh for their freedom, and each time Pharaoh refused another plague came. Yet it keeps saying in the story that 'God hardened his [Pharaoh's] heart' . Why? Wasn't the desired outcome freedom of the Israelites? It sounds like free will was taken from Pharaoh - cruel as he was already cowed by Moses's superior 'magic'. I've read about half of the book of Enoch. Why was it not included in most Torah's? I heard that it is included in the Ethiopian orthodox Jewish Torah. The Ethiopians were separated from other Jews for centuries. Apparently the adherence of Jews to tradition is to ensure hidden pockets of the diaspora would always practice the faith the same as other jews. I remember this as in the 1980s there was peace in Israel. This led to the kibbutz volunteer program. Young people of any faith could have a free holiday working on kibbutzim in this magical country. I went and met my Jewish Israeli partner there. Also at that time there was great famine in Ethiopia (remember Liveaid?). The' law of return' in Israel meant all Jews had the right to live there, so rescue missions saved the lives of starving Ethiopian jews by bringing them to Israel. Rather than being admired for how well they live and contribute, their successes, particularly financial, are looked down on as greed. Some are so messed up by how society treats them they eventually become the bad people they are portrayed as. So hard to witness when you have seen Jews at home in their country. They are entirely different to the diaspora. It's beautiful to see them relaxed in their identity. I found the Jews in Israel, where they are at home, a diverse but lovely mix of people. Only in the diaspora are they odd behaving. I've so many more questions, but will finish with just one. Why did Yahweh destroy the Earth with water, which us the essence of life? It also meant fish and flying animals could survive! I believe in God but not religion. Religion is behind so many wars. I also rejected Jesus, as I believed we are all God. Now I really like him! Awesome... There are many questions and beyond issues with the Bible. Yet God is real. And who are "Jews", yet a mixed multitude. Even the Torah shows one that was not of the 12 to inherit land. Jesus is vividly portrayed and endorsed in the new testament, in fact he's apparent in the old testament too (Luke 24:27 & 44, John 5:39) and by *His LIGHT* we're allowed to *see* that and *know Him.* Any intellectual concerns or previously perceived discrepancies/contradictions are ironed out and the supernatural narrative flows most beautifully. . . . . Wow...I have never heard that quote before...but there is a lot of truth in it, especially in regards to Yahweh in the OT. 😢. It is the things "like" this (1 Sam 15:3) AND OTHER THINGS in the Bible, that eventually made me decide it is not a book of spiritual truths about God for humanity to me. Unless you have a split personality. Truly! I finally decided I have to go with my own sense of goodness for sanities sake. By 68 I trust who I am. I'm far from perfect...but I could no longer do mental gymnastics in regard to the God of the Bible being Holy. Esp in the OT. The book is much too man-made in many parts (in regards to God) for it to be Devine to me. Of course that led me to learning about how and why it was both canonized, altered in different ways throughout history (with whole sections eventually left out); to finally decide it was not the devine book many religious people might believe it to be. Can you please talk about the Jewish Torah? Your research and presentation is so good. The Torah is a huge undertaking to write. The scribe has to go into a state of deep meditation before each day's work. They then have to carefully copy one letter at a time on the one long scroll. Even if the scroll is near complete, any mistake renders it unusable and the scroll must be restarted.
Please note that my ex partner was Jewish so I am only remembering what I was told.
There was an idea that there was one letter, an 'r' I think, that Yahweh deliberately left out from its place in the Torah. This was because if the 'r' was put in its place the whole of our reality would be revealed.
I'm just writing as I think. Sorry for lack of structure. I always had a problem with the plagues in Exodus. The Egyptians were very cruel to the Israelites. Moses kept asking the Pharaoh for their freedom, and each time Pharaoh refused another plague came. Yet it keeps saying in the story that 'God hardened his [Pharaoh's] heart' . Why? Wasn't the desired outcome freedom of the Israelites? It sounds like free will was taken from Pharaoh - cruel as he was already cowed by Moses's superior 'magic'.
I've read about half of the book of Enoch. Why was it not included in most Torah's? I heard that it is included in the Ethiopian orthodox Jewish Torah. The Ethiopians were separated from other Jews for centuries. Apparently the adherence of Jews to tradition is to ensure hidden pockets of the diaspora would always practice the faith the same as other jews.
I remember this as in the 1980s there was peace in Israel. This led to the kibbutz volunteer program. Young people of any faith could have a free holiday working on kibbutzim in this magical country. I went and met my Jewish Israeli partner there. Also at that time there was great famine in Ethiopia (remember Liveaid?). The' law of return' in Israel meant all Jews had the right to live there, so rescue missions saved the lives of starving Ethiopian jews by bringing them to Israel. They hadn't a clue about Western culture, yet tradition meant they practised their faith the same as all Jews. The only difference was the book if Enoch was included in their Torah. This book entirely confounds the conventional impression of God etc.
Tribes:- apparently there is a missing tribe. ? . Also all Jews know they belong to a tribe but not which one!
Chosen People?: - There were no Jews until the ten commandments were given and the Israelites reached Israel. Who chose them and why were they 'chosen' ? This seems more fitting of the theory that Yahweh was not the supreme God, but that s/he chose the Jews. Also why are Jews so persecuted throughout history? Yet every attempt to eradicate them fails. They are not a race, are of a faith that practises 'mitzvahs', compassionate deeds, as part of their religion, and work hard to integrate wherever they are. Rather than being admired for how well they live and contribute, their successes, particularly financial, are looked down on as greed. Some are so messed up by how society treats them they eventually become the bad people they are portrayed as. So hard to witness when you have seen Jews at home in their country. They are entirely different to the diaspora. It's beautiful to see them relaxed in their identity. I found the Jews in Israel, where they are at home, a diverse but lovely mix of people. Only in the diaspora are they odd behaving.

I believe in God but not religion. Religion is behind so many wars. I also rejected Jesus, as I believed we are all God. Now I really like him! He never claimed to be anything more than a man, and seems a wise and compassionate prophet and healer. I do think he was naive though, sharing mystical secrets with the general public. He also broke the commandment of respecting his parents as he defied his mother when she ordered him to stop preaching.

Awesome... There are many questions and beyond issues with the Bible. Yet God is real. And who are "Jews", yet a mixed multitude. Even the Torah shows one that was not of the 12 to inherit land. And by Isaiah 2 and 56 the Torah is to go to all the nation, and those that keep Shabbat will have an everlasting name. The Jews, Christians, Islam, and other religions are false. They all don't follow the 10 words.
Nobody treats one another as they should and shows favoritism to only their "cult".
I left Christianity and couldn't dare to follow "Jews"... Yet fell in love with the Torah. As there are mistakes or a false Torah as the rest of the Tanakh shows it.

Also all Judaic faiths have a Sabbath - Muslims on Friday, Jews on Saturday and Christians on Sunday. I remember hearing that Jesus, a Jewish Rabbi, wanted Saturday to remain the Sabbath.

Although the old testament is a collection of accounts from many scholars (and so difficult to read), Jews study it to such depth, very highly intelligent Jews, that they must read beyond the words. I spoke with a Chasid man in Israel while we were on a group tour of some very holy place. I didn't believe in God then and asked this young (as was I), man. He said God would not put us in this World without a guide to navigating it. He then said religious Jews (Chasid is just a sect. Other equally religious Jews dress normally - Chasid dress is their copying the dress style of Eastern Europe in the early 20th century)....viewed the Torah (old testament) like a computer program Jews strove to understand, so they could be closer to God and develop to their full potential. The World is a 6000yr experiment. now drawing to a close. His analogy was decades prior to the Matrix films, internet, and Simulation Theory. I know (now) Chasids lead very private lives, separate from other orthodox jews. They are I suppose the Jewish equivalent of American Amish. They know nothing of other faiths such as Buddhism, or Hindu - two faiths very involved in what we now call Simulation Theory - and his insight has never left my memory.
I do think that the more mystical aspects of Judaism - Kabbalah, and Islam - Sufism, explain our World and the old testament and Quoran more meaningfully. Jewish men were traditionally forbidden to study these mystical writings until well into their 40s and happily married with children, as the teachings were dangerous to the unprepared student.
So I don't know if I agree with your comment or not. I'm a writer, not a biblical scholar, and only remember parts of the old and new testament I was working on. I absolutely believe in God, who is my personal interpretation, and respect all peaceful faiths. I am drawn to the Hindu and the (essence of) Jewish faith, and parts of Christianity (I see Buddhism more as a philosophy). I know I will never join a religion. Religions are too political and divisive. My interpretation of God will always be private to me alone.

I grew up believing the Bible, though I didn't fully understand. In my mid to late teens I did shrooms and became a cosmic/gnostic new ager; then later a Neo-Vedantist and either ignored or misinterpreted the book for many years. As a "awakening" soul and emerging god I was damn sure I knew better; now I'm BORN AGAIN (John 3) I read the Bible by the LIGHT it was written.
As a new ager I couldn't believe but by the *Light of Spirit* Jesus really is the *Way, the truth and the Life* just like He said, and he wasn't lying or mistaken, there's *no deception* in Him: no one comes to GOD except through Jesus, there's no other way (Matthew 7:13-14). Being a neo-vedantist I wasn't convinced (I was damn sure I knew better) yet turns out the Bible is Spirit breathed, written by men inspired by the *Holy Spirit* . . . . . Jesus is vividly portrayed and endorsed in the new testament, in fact he's apparent in the old testament too (Luke 24:27 & 44, John 5:39) and by *His LIGHT* we're allowed to *see* that and *know Him.* Any intellectual concerns or previously perceived discrepancies/contradictions are ironed out and the supernatural narrative flows most beautifully. . . . .
