and likewise with 4a - 8a?

When you add x's for example x+x you will get 2x but if you multiply for example 5x (2x) you will get 10x^2

i'm not good at this but i think you can't add "x" to "x squared" as they have different exponents but when you multiply it becomes "x cubed" because instead of mulitplying the exponents you actually just add them. if i'm wrong im sorry but that's how i doo...
