That solo from Moonage Daydream was really the first time I "heard" electric guitar... and it changed my life. It was so simple, powerful, confident and musical I didn't even know what to do.
The genius of this solo lies precisely in its simplicity. Almost anyone can learn to play it, but it takes a lot of work to get it right. Many people start speeding and adding licks, and the solo quickly becomes similar like almost all other rock solos. This isn't just a solo from a rock song.
Just found this. Ronno was, and always will be my hero. He had an inner beauty that also came across in his guitar playing. Bowie unlocked his true talent by a projection of sorts, and I'm quite sure he loved Mick in some way. Approx. two years of the most mind shattering glamrock and roll we will ever see. It's obvious that Bowie was singing about Ronno- and the Spiders, I wonder if he was a little in awe of what they had created? But back to this video, I hadn't heard of Michael Casswell. To say he nailed this is a bit cheap, he did much more than that, he made it live again. To read he has subsequently died himself is a real tragedy.. R.I.P. Michael, Mick and David.
Great Cover of the Legendary Guitarist Mick Ronson’s Amazing Solo In Moonage Daydream. Ronno also played Piano & Strings in the Song. This Cover is Absolutely Amazing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Mick Ronson does not get the credit he deserves as a guitarist. It may not have been the most technically blinding solo, but he managed to make his guitar sound like the future. That’s the only way I can describe that solo.
Jimi Hendrix - Machine Gun is otherworldly. It transcends guitar playing. The ending with the bombs 💣 exploding and jets flying over and then the bombs exploding and people screaming the cries of war…what guitarist has ever even came close to being able to replicate Hendrix’s control of feedback and dive bombs from Machine Gun or the Star Spangled Banner? No one has even come close. I’ve heard SRV try it, Steve Vai…Van Halen’s dive bombs were 2nd best but he also had a Floyd Rose and better equipment. Don’t get me wrong, this is one of the greats but Jimi on Machine Gun is untouchable imho. He was more than a musician and guitar player. He was a force of nature that channeled the sounds nature. Wind, British Ambulances, bombs, screams, his wah playing is also untouchable. But Ronno was one of the best for sure and this is one of the best but I wouldn’t put anyone above Jimi. EVH’s solo on Live Without a Net and Jimmy Page’s solo from Dazed and Confused from The Song Remains the Same with the violin bow. But Ronno was for sure the man and kicked ass and I especially love his MKI Tone Bender, cocked wah and Les Paul tone. Easily one of the best. Something about that MKI Tone Bender, it just sustains forever.
Absolute Perfection! And this is my favorite Bowie song! I remember going nuts as a teenager when I listen to it over and over! I really like that you show how you play with your right hand, people nowdays seems to think its only about the freatboard playing.
Mr. Casswell was a great guitarist and artist and did a great cover of this Bowie classic. Mick Ronson would’ve been proud of this one. He died way too young.
Astonishing brother. Other people have used effects as instruments, but this blew my early teenage mind. Would you please let us know which effects pedals Mick Ronson was using back in the day to produce such a mind blowing sound, or was it augmented in the studio? Thanks so much for your amazing work. God bless.
here's lyrics in case you wanna sing along idk I'm an alligator I'm a mama-papa comin' for you I'm the space invader I'll be a rock 'n' rollin' bitch for you Keep your mouth shut You're squawking like a pink monkey bird And I'm bustin' up my brains for the words Keep your 'lectric eye on me, babe Put your ray gun to my head Press your space face close to mine, love Freak out in a moonage daydream, oh yeah! Don't fake it baby Lay the real thing on me The church of man, love Is such a holy place to be Make me baby Make me know you really care Make me jump into the air Keep your 'lectric eye on me, babe Put your ray gun to my head Press your space face close to mine, love Freak out in a moonage daydream, oh yeah! He’s basically using his virtuosity to the best of his ability as a composer and arranger.
RIP Michael Casswell
I just found out he drowned on holiday.....what a guitarist too!!!
great - the original might be the greatest solo in rock
antonyhume hume lol
Perhaps, But not this version ! 😂
Best has to be parisienne walkaways by Gary Moore
Blackbird - Alter bridge

God bless Mick and Michael.
I come across this song about 5 month ago and i cant stop listening , total addiction ,love of music ,
A top five guitar solo of all time right there. Masterfully executed!

That was a virtuoso performance. Beautiful.

One of the best tutorials I've seen online! Is your version tabbed anywhere? There are a few bits I just can't get right (I'm a beginner).
wow man thanks
Dayum
Any chance for the solo at the end to be put into tab?
Near the end when he is doing the double bend you are thinking that its going off key but pulls up and that is the great little things about guitar
Guardians of the Galaxy brought me here!

Wah wah pedal to give the honky tone, a load of delay and your amp on full blast is pretty much it
nice guitar!
Woodmanseys' bass is the carrier and lets Mick go wild.
Bolder’s bass. Woodmansey was the drummer.
Trevor’s bass, ferchrissake😮!
Rip Michael.
Que pedales usaste para lograr el sonido de la guitarra en el minuto 4:00 4:03
Tendrás el tab??!
