Hi Ms. Carrasco, I am writing a book about the Afro Set and the Black Power Movement in the city of Cleveland in the 1960's and 1970's. I wanted to know if I could interview you or Mr. Willis? 216-526-5241
What an amazing story It is very similar to Black Wall Street I'm from Cleveland and I remember how Winston made that part of Euclid Avenue look like a little Las Vegas.
This man's life story is screaming for a Hollywood Oscar style movie. Shame they are doing remakes of Color Purple rather than this gem. Hope someone wakes up.
Thank you! I've been trying for years with no success. As you say, filmmakers are stuck on remakes! I have not given up hope yet though and I will keep trying.
I was a young grad student when I met Winston at the CWRU law library. It was probably late 1986 and we developed an unlikely but special friendship. Such a dynamic, brilliant and fascinating man.
Thank you, Kelly. I will share your kind and generous comments with my brother. He will be happy and surprised that you remember him. Also, please check out my recently published book, Winston Willis: A Memoir, which is available on Amazon KDP www.amazon.com/dp/B0CVRSQQWM Sincerely, Aundra Willis Carrasco www.aundrawilliscarrasco.com/
@@aundrawilliscarrasco875 Thank you for passing on my love!! I will absolutely be buying your book. Additionally, my son is a junior at Harvard writing his Junior Paper on "the American tradition of abusing history to minimize white-dominated institutions' roles in the destruction of America's ethnically marginalized communities to preserve the precious notion of white innocence." I have begun telling him about Winston and now wonder if he may devote his Senior thesis to as aspect of Winston's story.
@@kellybaldwin603 This is wonderful! I will share with you that a few years ago a student at Case Western Reserve University law school wrote her thesis based on Winston's history, and she won an award. My best to your son, and if he is in need of further information about Winston, he can e-mail me at: aundra.willis@gmail.com
Wow!!!!! My dad used to take us to your brothers theater back in late 70s into early early 1980s. "The Scrumpty Dump" was it's name....if I recall correctly. We watched all those Kung Fu flicks...& Black movies also.....Wow So sorry about how they treated your brother .. CLEVELAND was so corrupt in those days. Much love Kenn
If you are African American. How is that when we weren't called that until 1988... How about doing your genealogy paperwork and finding out your truth... Stop calling yourself what the colonizers label of you...
This story has to be told...I grew up around there...I remember Winston Casino...my ex' father used to be a card dealer in there and his mother a Prostitute....that was back in the day....
Aundra Willis Carrasco I’ve always known just a little about this story. My father was a major politician in town back in the 60s and 70s. I wish I had been far more aware of the city back then. I can tell you one thing he and I both hated John T Corrigan he was a bastard. I will share this teaser and the story written on medium.com, the clinic and these other bastards that have been running this city are disgusting they produced the division and derision The continues to this day. Makes me ill.
@@aundrawilliscarrasco875 I'm just seeing this I don't know why TH-cam picks and chooses what I see. I'm only seeing your response to me because you highlighted this response. I will volunteer my time to help finish this piece. This is mind blowing black history.
@@shesheshe9389 Indeed it is. Read, "WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING" written by Alyssa Cole. It's a novel about the "Gentrification" of a historically Black neighborhood. Very eye-opening "thrilller." Most people don't have any idea that this is how it really is done, in more than one case, I'd venture to say.

I remember the good old days of Cleveland, with Winston Willis, Danny Green and the Italian Mafia. The city was safe for everyday residents back then.
Danny green blew up by my house growing up
His sorry must be told! Please let everyone know when this will be released!
105 & Euclid: I bet Cleveland Clinic got that land for close to nothing after everything was leveled.
They did because Winston moved down to E. 55th and Euclid
