Nice review. With regard to the amount of stuff, you're getting +40% of the base game's Mages, Monuments, and Places of Power, as well as +30% of the artifacts and +25% of the Magic items, so, overall this expansion adds about 1/3 of the content in the base game, which is a solid amount of new content for any expansion.
@@original1up First, that's a far better ratio than most expansions. Seriously, compare. Second, there's the fixed costs of artwork, printer setups, managing the project, etc. that has to be spread out over a smaller print run (since expansions by definition sell fewer copies than the base game), so *of course* the price ratio is higher; it has to be because you're spreading similar fixed costs over fewer copies. That's not a scam, that's just business 101.
@@ptlehmann i have often heard and that you are easy to trigger via online comments, thus i just wanted to try it. You are obviously right in what you say but you should honestly just stop answering to every random troll on the internet. Your game is good, i just bought the expansion today and i hope there is more to come.
@@original1up I'm glad that you enjoy the game and hope the expansion works for you. I do feel a bit sad that trying to answer a comment with facts about costs is considered being "triggered".
Tom Lehmann.. For me the best designer from the point how "sharp" and streamlined a game is, without removing anything fun. RftG and this in particular..
Tom did the review for that one, not Zee. You also can't post links on YT. Replace the bit after "?v=" in this video's URL with "y-pZM8NSRDw" to go to Tom's review of the base game.
Why is this expansion impossible to find in the US right now? Is there a reprint happening sometime soon? Really want to pick this up but not for $80 from some scalper.
@@TheLuminousCleric the designer discusses how it fits in the base box here: th-cam.com/video/Ptcs9MXhCrQ/w-d-xo.html&t=369 - his version there is sleeved, so seems to be a yes
@@hidden_traitor7371 I know I am late but I figured I would comment for anyone new who comes along. I think both will fit in the box without sleeves or with thin sleeves. However, there's only enough room for one in the base box with the insert if you're using thicker premium sleeves. For example, I am using clear Dragon Shields and can only fit one expansion in the box with the base game at a time.

The base game fell surprisingly flat for me. All pieces that should make it a great engine building game are there... yet it's dry and boring and the whole process felt like boring grinding till somebody wins. Still, glad to see that many people were able to enjoy this game. Wish I could figure out how to do it as well ^^'
Denis Wolf How many games did you play? Or first couple were a little like you described but now they are a race to the end and we love it. It may just not be for you but it could also just need a little more familiarity
@@cmoe25027 thanks for your reply! We played at least 4 times, including 2p and 3p games. It would be interesting to try to focus on the racing part, but maybe that's why we didn't enjoy it as much because racing interaction doesn't click in Res Arcana for us. I will probably try to get an expansion and play with it more - the design is brilliant on paper and after every time we play we just look at each other and 'still not fun, huh?'. And our group plays full spectrum of games from simple card games through mid-weight euros and ameritrash classics to heavy euros and train games. I actually wonder if an app could help with getting enough plays in a short period of time so it would be more meaningful to play the game knowing and remembering all cards and simple combos.

1/3 of the content of the base game but 1/2 of the price. Nice Scam

Looks great, instant buy!
I love the theme, so just good points for this game for me :D
Argh this isnt releasing for another few months!
Out now, ordered mine today from UK.
Does anyone have a link to Zee's review of Res Arcana?

Zee, you are wearing a BOCHUM Ruhrpott Basecap. 😎 Great! As a Bochumer I like that very much👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Beside: Very good review . Thank you!
Can everything fit into the base game box?
I'm pretty sure it will fit fine. There is a lot of room in the base box.
Yea, the designer showed at a recent convention how it will all fit in the base box
@@hidden_traitor7371 Even with the cards sleeved?
