So easy to get burnt out. So easy to get overwhelmed with collecting too. I used to buy day one releases all the time but as know, I’ve changed my habits to allow me to hunt for cheap copies or hand me downs. I too get a little burnt out at times so to help with that, I will focus on a certain genre or particular movie i want to hunt for vs. just buying what everybody else has. Never worry about if your collection is bigger or better. Remember it’s your collection and it has mean something to you. No one else. Great topic bro!
Thank you bro. This messaged meant a lot. That’s why I respect and watch every video. Your my favorite channel and I like the we you hunt and purchase. I just wanna be proud of everything I have.
Cody I am right there with you. I am running out of space quickly so buying more movies seems pointless as they would probably just end up in tubs in the garage. Follow your gut, my man!
I like how you connected good times in life with movies. I too have a large movie collection, but I like getting the movie streams that let you watch the movies that you like. Make sure you plan on where your collection goes when you pass away. I have a ton of games nd I have nieces and nephews that I will have given to them when I die (hopefully not too soon).
Hey man! I'm right there with you on a lot of those things. It is easy to get caught up buying things and can for sure get you feeling burnt out. I'm trying to be more selective with my purchases as well and making sure to watch and enjoy the movies I have in the collection. Loved hanging out with you two on the live stream! That is such a positive of this whole collecting thing, I've gotten to meet some awesome people like you and Emily!
I feel you on the buying things you don't really need. I think I'm about to go through and clear out the ones I didn't enjoy. Pretty much anything that I rate 1.5 stars or lower unless it's part of a franchise is probably gonna go. I have about 30% of my collection that I need to watch still.
Glad you’re thinking the same thing. That’s a great idea that’s kind of where I thought about starting out with the ones I definitely did not enjoy and getting rid of those first.
I feel ya 100% Trying myself to cut back some. It can get overwhelming. Constantly going through my collection & asking myself if I'm going to watch certain titles again. Blind buying can be so hit or miss, but honestly it's how you find those hidden gems. I'm like you with with the A24 titles, might not have liked it, but because it's A24 it stays, like Hereditary & The VVitch for example. Loved Lisa Frankenstein! That War of the Worlds slip is nice. Great pickups!
Thanks Miranda! Glad to hear even though I know it’s not just me but to hear it from friends and get their thoughts. Yeah that’s the hard part about blind binds you really do find some good stuff sometimes. We will see where it goes. Thanks Again Miranda Your Awesome!
I'm going to be 100% honest. It seems like people will buy the newest release or these boutique labels because they want the praise and attention from the community. When in reality, none of that BS matters. I don't get caught up in wanting to be accepted by their "peers". 98% of my movie collection is used, and I only buy stuff I actually like. I see all these comments from TH-camrs on this video saying they feel the same as you, yet they will continue to blind buy or buy stuff they don't even like just to feel like they're part of the "community".
I'm very much a quality over quantity type of person and I rarely blind buy, I prefer to have my collection very curated. I used to own multiple copies of things and things I enjoyed once but knew I would probably never revisit, but I decided to start getting rid of duplicates and those titles I'll never rewatch. Since doing that I've freed up space on my shelves while also feeling more proud of my collection knowing that I stand by every title I have. I think what you could start doing is 1. Filtering out titles you know you'll never rewatch and 2. Filtering out movies you haven't watched yet. Of the unwatched ones you could always do some research on each title to see if it's something you wanna check out, and if it's not you can add it to the other pile to give away at another meet up or sell to a store for store credit. 🙂
Quality over quantity is definitely something I’ve been trying to do but been struggling with but that’s where my mind set is right now for sure. That’s a great idea and I may just take you up on your advice. Thank You For Watching and Your Advice! You’re always awesome.
@@filmaddiction26 With a collection as large as yours I'm sure it's daunting to think about filtering out so much, but I promise it'll be worth it in the end and you'll be a lot happier with your collection. As collectors of physical media we all understand the various struggles that come along with it, so I'm always happy to give any advice I think may be helpful!
Cody…..it’s too late for you to start fresh. You’re in too deep, like the rest of us!!😂😂😂. But I TOTALLY understand what you’re going through. Blind buys, I know are “part of the game”, but it gets too expensive at times to pick up a title that one might not enjoy. For me….i have a set list that I want to pick up and I don’t pick up those titles because I “blind buy” other movies. There you go again….showing off that damn $20 Expendables SteelBook. 🤬🤬😂😂. I LOVE the OG War of the Worlds and I like it better than the 2005 version. But, back to collecting, getting the “series” in a studio’s run has been one of the hardest ones I’ve had to complete. I’m just wondering if Vestron is going to discontinue the numbered slips in favor of the Walmart SteelBooks.
Lmao yeah idk why I said starting fresh! Set list is a great idea but blind buys can be fun but are risky so I’m backing off on that for now especially if it’s full price. lol I’m on the hunt for more of those Steelbooks just to hook people up. Yeah idk what the vestron plan is but I do want to own all of them with the slips I do plan on keeping that up as you said I’m too deep.
Burnout is a real thing, I go through phases myself where I will really hunt then there are times when I go months without barely collecting physical media. My collection gets over whelming and putting it all away is another story 😂 I feel you on this topic. Ive slowed down recently buying. Great topic! 🎉🎉 In my experience, there are times Ive purged my collection and most time I end up regretting doing so. Ive been clearing out my dvds when upgrading but some ive purged I wish I would have kept! 🎉
The Struggle Is Real 😂!! Yeah I’ve regretted in the past and you always will in a way but sometimes you just have to. Yeah it’s a 2nd job sometimes with the entire process hunting, buying, scanning, putting it away, watching, possible purging out then rinse and repeat.
Collecting definitely can cause burn out. I used to just buy everything that seemed interesting. I have cut back over the last couple years due to price increases and focusing on primarily upgrading titles from dvd to blu ray.
I’m a blind buy kinda girl. Great video though I definitely see what you mean by burnt out. It happens that’s for sure. Also I seen the goon love and buddy you got a slipcover I’m so jealous of that slip. 😁
I slowed down my collecting for about a year and only bought movies I had seen in the theater so I could catch up and watch all the movies in my collection I had not watched sometimes you just get overwhelmed by it and need to catch up is all
I mean no offense at all, but I have always wondered why so many people purchase figurines and toys and keep them in packages to display on shelves. Seems like a more sophisticated and socially acceptable form of hoarding. Maybe someone could explain that.
I try to only buy my favorite characters. Some I open and some I don’t. There’s way to many to try to get them all and I’m not going down that rabbit hole and don’t have the space as well.
We talk about collecting I get Amazon purchases and Walmart buying I have confess with my obsession and addiction and over time prices yes I have more blu rays then I do 4ks

I own A Simple Plan. It's one of my favorites.
Great movie

Definitely need to do more upgrading and getting rid of some DVDs and upgrading my favorites to 4K if possible and purge others out.

lol from Amazon! Blind buys can be fun for sure.

That’s not a bad idea either. Thanks for watching!
Yes I have titles I have. Cabinet full of movies and other boutiques labels I don’t even know i have
What up Cody
Me too Cody. Watch movies collect movies
I do random picking up movies
