1 of the great things about sampling is that it introduces a younger generation to another generation's artistic creations to explore & enjoy! Shout out to Ahmad Jamal & previous generations who invented music of this type of genre, they are NOT forgotten...Thank you for posting.
Bro dont worry they wont be forgotten. Great thing you say but it doesnt require understanding and therefore no improvement can be made. No need for sampling as we have the real recording :)
@@domwujek8900 Who ever mentioned improvement? You added that. The point you're missing is that sampling can provide the passing on of knowledge and the inspiration to seek out new music to someone who may have never heard about it. I can't begin to tell you how much music i've discovered and continue to discover this way.
@@stopnotplayin yup, if i didnt ignorantly start hunting for samples on here i would never have simply discovered straight-up listening to all this type of great old music.
@@domwujek8900 wow, u missed the entire point. Knowledge can be obtained in various ways. If it's through sampling, then so be it. The end justifies the means.

Well, Folks . . . A gifted American artist who never quite received the recognition he deserved. He wasn't as flamboyant as some other heavy-weights of the late "Bop" era---he relied on the piano to speak for him. Who can give the rhythm section credits? (My search came up blank.) I'm particularly interested in the bass player, but drums & rhythm guitar are great too. TIA
In Jamal's group credits I turned up "drummer Frank Gant (1966-76)"; but he's a jazz drummer. AJ might've used a more pop/r&b drummer for this recording.
@@pbasswil ...early rock drummers grew up hearing jazz...early jazz drummers (Earl Palmer...) played the early rock... I think Gant came out of Detroit, home of Motown... I hear the boogaloo in teh rhythm section (Cannonball era groove) - I think Gant is still alive, (depending on Covid...)
@@MichaelSmith-qr1db I'm sure most drummers who started in the jazz/bop era could cross over into pop/rock - if only out of necessity, to survive in the '60s & '70s. But whoever this is, he keeps a _righteous_ backbeat. Seems like it might be a young-ish cat, at that time. I'd still like to know who's on bass - he's tasty as hell, and the P-bass tone is _perfect._ Incidentally, I've heard some r&b-crossover sides with Ron Carter on electric bass from around this time (no, not with A Jamal), and he was _really_ convincing on Fender.
