The point you're missing is that sampling can provide the passing on of knowledge and the inspiration to seek out new music to someone who may have never heard about it. I can't begin to tell you how much music i've discovered and continue to discover this way.

I'd still like to know who's on bass - he's tasty as hell, and the P-bass tone is _perfect._ Incidentally, I've heard some r&b-crossover sides with Ron Carter on electric bass from around this time (no, not with A Jamal), and he was _really_ convincing on Fender.
