      understanding midi channels/routing, example, each cubase track has an instance of kontakt - each kontakt uses midi channel 1 - do these all combine into one midi channel 1?

      How to approach musical learning as a whole. Is it by rote or analysis? (Is a scale, chord etc best learned by listening/playing repetition or more of a mathematical analytical approach).

    Not sure if I've only stumbled on exceptions but some of the midi files I've opened up like "When you wish upon a star" "To Zarnakand" and "God help the outcasts". The common pattern seem to be, avoid smaller notes than 1/4th notes and let there be a subtle rhythm in the chords. But maybe that's a good habit for the epic ambient sound exclusively. You think the music you listen to is very rhythmic and then you open it up and it's just the BPM and chords playing a trick on you. Especially "When you wish upon a star" looks very similar to the first bad tune in this video.

Do you think the s88 mkII is the answer or is there better options out there. I’ve done research and many people seem to love the keyboard and I’ve seen your video on it, but just want to see what you think of that is the right choice.

    I am Having an Issue with the Opus Player and Cubase Pro 12. I have the latest updates and drivers and use windows 11 pro. My PC is super powerful with plenty of Ram and a ton of m.2 storage. Every time I try and use Opus it starts out fine, but then it crashes when I hit the play tab which allows you to see the moods and controls. I already tried talking to steinberg and they assure me its not on their part. Then I called EW and they dont know what's going on either. does anyone know why its crashing? I only have ten tracks loaded. My PC is: Ryzen Threadripper 2950X, 64gb ram at 3200mhz, 5tb storage m.2 samsung, rtx 2080 OC, asus mother board and windows 11 pro with 850 watt psu. Thanks. Please someone help me. I can't get any work done.

    "Bad Tunes" my bloody foot. That first one reminded me of an RPG game and I would purposely NOT play it so I can listen to the song. lol. I dn't know what's it's called but when you play main chords before you melodic backdrops... they tend to sound like total butt but then you start adding those other elements like strings and articulate basses and pianos... THEN it starts to sound like a song. Let your heart control t he feeling of the song.

    Guy: randomly plays a tune
    Me: Yeah, I think I have a similar tune somewhere in my never-to-be-continued projects. A bit Willaiams-ey vibe to it, "WWII veteran coming back to a cemetery in Normandy" style. It reminds me I could find it and elaborate more. I guess it's file number 37.
    Guy: That was pretty bad.
    Me: Note to self. Delete file No. 37.

  • @CallousCoder

    I call it sketching. If I have a progression I will just literally let it loop and play lots and lot of improvisation on it. And there’s always motifs or parts that you go like… Hmmm that I like… hmmm that I can work with.
    And then you organize them and you start to hear missing parts like… maybe a little guitar harmony is nice here? And you just try and within an hour you recorded and mixed and mastered a whole song. Because that chord structure and rhythm is there and the melody just needs to sort of grow into that, and that’s really the quick and easy part.
    This is a song I did last year that was just a scratch pad session. Sitting on the couch with that backing track and an iPad with a guitar audio interface… knowing the direction I wanted to do in (80s metal). Will it win awards? Hell no! But it is presentable and is unique.

  • @cuttingcut1321
    @cuttingcut1321 ปีที่แล้ว

    Personally , I don't find anything 'bad' in music. Some combination of sounds tend to attract the ear, while others attract less.
    For the second case, no one is to be blamed, rather some little changes need to be made.
    The part I like is the way you approach the problem. Others say like ' your song is garbage, it's pizdec , go follow these rules...etc'. You rather encourage a person to solve it in a creative way, and I personally like it.
