    We are fortunate to still have Peikoff among us or we would not have a true, living disciple of Ayn Rand to explain her thoughts.

    The power of reason and reasonable philosophy. Peikoff neatly predicted what's happening now in putleristan.

    He's a trifle off in crediting Japanese success solely to the American occupation.
    They had already been westernizing since the Meiji Restoration in 1868, and were able to beat the Russians in 1905 with a British-style navy and a Prussian-style army. And going back to the 1600's they always had a respect for western ideas, which they called "Dutch Learning", because the Dutch got there first.
    Their wisdom is best shown by the fact that they would allow in western economic, scientific, and technological ideas, but Christian missionaries were almost always banned.

    The failure of Marxism is explained, according to Dr. Peikoff, by the following combinations of ideas:
    1. Mysticism and secularism (9:00): nobody believed in the promise of dialectical laws to bring prosperity here on earth
    2. Nationalism and internationalism (15:00): a tribalist mentality cannot conceive of a self-sacrifice on a scale beyond his perceptual level

    Why is the picture John Allison?

      @@drstrangelove09 He said that it was racist to rebel mindlessly against the superior production of the Japanese as some Americans were. And he's right. It's tribal, collectivist, and partially along racial lines. Hence, racist. And he didn't just say racist in that sentence either.

    • @drstrangelove09
      @drstrangelove09 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Thindorama I think there was a point where he caved in to the other guy about all sorts of things being racist, things that were not necessarily racist. I'd have to listen again. Probably not going to do that since I found it irritating.
