THERE IS NO KILL LIKE OVERKILL!

Nine years later, in SRW 30, Rai even admits that Ryusei yelling all the attacks helps Rai to properly regulate the Tronium Engines output. In other words, now Ryuseis attack calls ARE TACTICALLY USEFUL!
Amusingly enough, for me at least, what really made the SRX for me (for Inspector at least) was the SECOND time it showed up. The first time was amazing, but the second time, I realized-they were using the damned stock footage from the first combination scene. It was absolutely perfect, because the SRX is a walking homage to the entire Super Robot genre, and stock footage combination scenes are an absolute staple.
If the only thing you knew about these two was their beam attack, which would you think is the villain, and which the hero: Gravilion Arc, or Gaun Genocider? One sounds distincly more evil than the other.
In a little bit of amusing hindsight, Variable Formation gets shorter as you view the in universe chronological order (IE Divine Wars is longer than The Inspector, which is longer than the OVA).

Sunrise did Super Robots(The Braves Series) themselves back in the day too though, although they did seem to steal the effects of the Nendo Fieldfor the combination part. There's a fair bit of GaoGaiGar(Which Sunrise also has the rights to) in the transformation(And not just the lion head).
