I like this vid.. I live on dyas so good to see kingfisher birdbrook Rd and Courtenay Rd back then. I was only 8 months old when this was made but I lived by the scott arms then
I was there ...it all started in a sunday night. January 11 1987....I was living in Kings Heath... as a student at University of Birmingham...snow lasted on the ground about a week..it just felt like Rochester NY!!
I've just been watching the ITV News here, ( see opposite ) of this 1987 snow storm, I honestly can't remember it, 1982---1963---1947--YES. BUT by 1987, I was living in North Somerset. so maybe we were lucky.
Ah yes you got any taste of northern Ontario! So great to have brilliant memories.family is everything. Stay safe in this new surge, hitting us bad here,1000 daily, hospitals icu full.
I remmber 1987 very well and i dont remmber any big freeze? think we had snow may be once or twice? live on the Tideswell Rd Beeches. But back then you get about 3 foot at a time :)
To be honest, if I hadn't filmed it I doubt if I would have remembered it, lol, I think I remember the milk floats all getting stuck, and my van being stuck was a regular event.
Same in Canada, according to a cousin over there. I was really amazed. He explained --thats why US trucks have such monster engines. Diesl has same power but half the size.. The big Gas stations and oil companies didn't want to pay billions making the change over.
Thank you for posting this video footage... it is very interesting. I was 16 in 1987, and it brings back some great memories.
Thank you for watching sir, yes fab memories...

I'm glad someone, has recognised the streets. I left Calshot Road in 1950. aged 9. I went to Beechwood Road school. The name changed after we went.
