Fabulous video even though I am not an athleticscoach but love the infomation and details you provide. At my age I have now turned into looking at my mechanics and seeing how I can improve my sprinting,which I truly love. Not sure if you have heard of Functional Patterns, but this is based on the body mechanics, using gait analysis to assess the individuals movement. What you discuss truly relates to what i am doing in FP., as I have stopped all my traditional weight training and pursing sprinting as my challenegs, and seeing many changes and even improving my speed for 100m. Anyway, love your vidoes and keep them coming. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I fully agree with the fast/powerfull thigh switching wich is obviously a plyometric/SSC movement. Probably a much more important SSC than the ground contact SSC for me. The potential energy in that strech reflexes (hipflexor/core/chest/shoulder) and contralateral (calf/hamstring/glute/latissimus) is so huge. It's where most of the energy comes from. This is why the elastic, lanky guys often have an advantage over the muscuar guys. They are usually more efficient in that strech reflexes.

4:00 it's interesting to note that the split between the thighs should be bigger in the front (knees high) while it's the opposite with the upper arms, the angle in the front is not too far from vertical, whereas the angle in the back is much bigger (elbow to the sky)....I guess the reverse symmetry makes sense for balance
Great video! Most of the time, coaches do not focus enough on the arms. You seem very knowledgeable in the topic and are very useful to highschool athletes who are beginning track.
Question. @8:25 I see a lot of lower leg (you marked it as a red line) swinging too far forward. I see this mostly in mid-long distance runners. These lead to one type of over-striding, heel landings, back and shin issues. This habit continues even after addressing the causes like posture,glutes, etc. Do you see this in sprinters, and how do you correct it? Anything besides A-skips and marching?
I really don’t see it. When you time as much as we do, things that make you slower tend to get corrected. And, every sprinter has different abilities to run with slightly different mechanics. I try to teach generally.

I want my son to have one so he hits Max speed in the garage while his mother cooks dinner. He's about to turn 8.
