    I have one and it's pretty sweet sounding. Heavy as a boat anchor. As long as they were modernizing the fretboard to 9.5", I wish they'd have jumbo-sized the frets. Those 6105 tall vintage frets turn into slicing devices every time you slide.

    I've got pure vintage 64's in mine. They are quite nice. I've seen people put a no caster in the neck with their 64 in the bridge and I've also seen examples of the opposite with 64 neck and nocaster in the bridge. Any ideas why these are popular combos of pickups?

    • @ericmojave6061
      @ericmojave6061 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I know this is a late reply but I can give my 2 cents. 51 nocasters are flat pole pickups, so in the bridge pickup tends to produce a very even response across all the strings. To my ears this ends up being a bit warmer and maybe just a little more compressed. 64’s are staggered poles, so this tends to produce a very clear, bright, slightly less compressed sound. It’s hard to put adjectives to these sounds. Hopefully that helps at all. Basically, if it sounds good then it is good haha

      Saw a $50,000 Esquire available from either Emerald City or Carter the other day. $30,000. And that fucking thing had a rosewood fretboard. I was disgusted. Never understood why someone would buy a rosewood Telecaster(or Esquire or Broadcaster or whatever). I don’t like rosewood fretboards in the first place, but a Telecaster especially doesn’t sound right with one.

  • @kommi1974
    @kommi1974 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I can't believe people still think wood breathes. It's dead, people. Jesus Christ, are people really that dense? On a brighter note, that tele sounds delicious.

    • @frantisca
      @frantisca 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Put on a 2mm polyurethane coat and you'll hear the difference !! "Breathe" is just a way to describe it. "Vibrate" would be more appropriate ;-) Warmoth just did an interesting comparison on body woods. If you don't hear any difference, quit listening and get ear surgery :)))

    • @fatherjonesdotcom
      @fatherjonesdotcom 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it doesn't breathe literally...it vibrates more when it has a thin finish which translates into a sound some metaphorically describe as 'airy' or breathy. That's why people say it breathes. What's dense is not getting that.
