ARUNACHAL RIDE 2022 | EP 3 | TAWANG | TAWANG MONASTERY | GIANT BUDDHA STATUE ||

This is the 3rd episode of the Tour of ARUNACHAL, which will show you about the Tawang city in Arunachal pradesh.Erstwhile Tawang District was a Sub-Division of West Kameng District till 5th October 1984. This district is situated in western most part of Arunachal Pradesh. The area of this district is approximately 2,172 Sq.km, bounded by Tibet (China) to the north, Bhutan to the south-west and Sela ranges separated from West Kameng district in the east.
About 2 Kms from the town is the Tawang Monastery. The Monastery is the second biggest and oldest in Asia and is known as the Tawang Ganden Namgyal Lhatse i.e., the celestial paradise of divine site chosen by the horse was founded by Merag Lodroe Gyamtso in the year 1680-81. The place is also famous with the legend of 7th Century A.D., King Kalawangpo and Khandro Drowa Zangmo, known as rTa nag mandal sgang.
