      @@bluefish3607 Yes, the distance a signal will travel for the same power goes up as the frequency goes down and like the 898Mhz frequency of Crossfire the signal is less effected by trees/bushes and disperses wider allowing it to cope with minor obstructions. I believe you need to use a linear antenna on the plane with this 20dbi patch and the only ones I have are the rubber duckys that came with the Fr632 and am trying to find alternatives but all seem to be Omni's.

    • @PeterSpringhall
      @PeterSpringhall 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      BlueFish I use a clearview and two trueD 5.8 patches. Following one of Robs video I then feed the mavlink data through the crsf and then via Bluetooth into the MFD. it’s a great product but a little fragile to incorrect wiring if you swap the wrong cables. Look forward to chatting in the FB group.

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Dart XL is setup for long range and is really a cruiser and does not like to be thrown around like I do the AR Pro. But if you setup and AR Pro for long range I think it can equal or even exceed the efficiency of the Dart XL. The AR Pro can do it all basically but the XL is more suited to long rang and just cruising about.

    Excellent video. im about to maiden my XL, its been sat in the box for almost a year. i do have a question though. With regards to the size of the prop, and not wanting to use a folding one, as i cant find any here in the U.K. How have you been landing so the prop or mounts are not getting damaged? is there a way of setting some kind of brake for the motor, that stops the prop at a Quarter to Three position, as apposed to Six o'clock? where the prop strikes the ground?. Cheers.

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, you can set the esc brake function which will stop the motor when you go to min throttle and generally the prop will rotate when you land unless it is vertical and then there is the chnace of breakage. I have broken a few when landing on hard ground and came in fast but never damaged the mount with the props I use as they are stiff but quite brittle. There is no way to make the brake stop in the horizontal position unfortunately. I prefer non folding props and happy to have a few break as folding props are harder to balance imo. I also try and land on soft grass whenever possible. Hope that helps.

You can get a full size GoPro and fpv cam in the nose and the batery bay is large. The rear electroncs bay also has plenty of space so everything is accesible and convenient. The nose can be delicate and Imhave reinfoced mine with carbon rods and the elevons are a bit flimssy and Imintend to replace them with balsa when I get around to it. What is more efficient? This or a twin like Albabird?

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there efficiency is not really governed by the style of plane, although aerodynamics obviously plays it part when we consider drag and extra power to fly a brick compared to streamlined craft. Weight of craft, size of motor, cruise speed and prop size all play a part in efficiency levels. I hope that helps.

    Use 1.2g video, then you won't need an expensive tracker....200mw vtx is about £15.
    More than enough for this distance and will work alongside 868mhz control... Video relay to your goggles, job done. 5.8g is not long range video.

      @bluefish3607  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is something I ight try in future if I want to go really long range but 5.8 is serving me well up to 25km out which is about as far as I want to go.
      I got the tracker so I can fly 360 degrees around my launch position and not have to keep adjusting my antenna manually which was a pain, especially when flying fast planes like my 6S Mini Drak which is almost built.
      I also wanted to put it together just for the hell and fun of it and learn something new and challenge myself, nothing much else to do in lockdown :-)
      But 1.2g is a good shout and I look forward to that challenge as well, thanks for reminding me, you have sown a seed!
