    Eddie is a really patient person. Even though the people who he's interviewing says something that contradicts what they said a second ago, he doesn't call them out on it. 9:36
    I think he just keeps it in his head to keep the ambience light and chill and just enjoy his time with the people. I feel like he's a good example of living happy instead of living always right.

    Deep down everybody wants to give back to their hood, but sometimes that same hood you love so much doesn't love you back & thats why eventually people leave. But even when you leave, it's hard to stay away... It's like a Love/Hate thing. Kinda like Family right

    I love that. I experienced that when I dated my first Mexican girlfriend. All we did was go a town over and the food was so different. Even the food trucks were bomb af. She was like "We should get elotes" I'm like what-- that's just corn. Nah you got the melted butter, which acts as an adhesive for the chili powder and cheese and other stuff to stick to. Damn I miss that girl. I fucked up. I FUCKED UP.

    I don't see how promoting culture is anti white. That's not what I take away from this. They talk about what they relate to just like anyone does. I didn't come away from this with a basket full of reasons to not like white people. I came away from it with an appreciation of culture period. White people stop thinking that anything pro culture is against you and what you stand for. You are loved just the same. We are all family and family gives each other shit sometimes. It doesn't mean they hate each other. Peace and respect.

    • @nelsonbetancourt9306
      @nelsonbetancourt9306 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      jay hamilton never understood this either. guess people feel like it's anti-white because they themselves have no culture or background to be proud of. most don't really know or care about their roots, when they see other people do it, they're jealous and want to label it racist to cover that fact.

    • @nelsonbetancourt9306
      @nelsonbetancourt9306 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ***** they weren't clowning. if you were offended by it, you're insecure. there weren't even that many references to white people either. don't front, when you see something non-white and unfamiliar to you, you feel weird and threatened and feel a need to label it (so you call it racist because you don't know what racism is). so sensitive. shut up already.

    • @nelsonbetancourt9306
      @nelsonbetancourt9306 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      what are you talking about? they talk about black and latino folks all the time, you just can't identify with it so it goes over your head. again, quit being a bitch.

    • @nelsonbetancourt9306
      @nelsonbetancourt9306 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ***** also, if white people were more inclusive throughout history, groups wouldn't have had to group together the way they do and wouldn't have some of the views they do.

    • @nelsonbetancourt9306
      @nelsonbetancourt9306 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Again, we're talking white people who do get offended (starting to think you're one of them) when we talk about collective, generic American whiteness. Be proud of your Irish roots, nobody talks shit about that. I lived in a white neighborhood half of my life after growing up in a Mexican and Filipino neighborhood (my dad is Puerto Rican, my mother is Irish), and I noticed the majority of kids did not know where their family was from, had no traditions, no pride in any particular cuisine or cultural differences, etc.- all they had was their generic whiteness. They also made fun of anything that was non-white, like my dad and our traditions and food. Those are the generic white people he's talking about, not the ones who know their roots and cuisines and appreciate cultural differences. You're one of those lames who gets butthurt as soon as somebody says "white people". Look how quick you were to call me a racist- you're a clown, you don't even know what that means. And quit calling people fag, that shit's played.

  • @masenz
    @masenz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +71

    The fucking contradictions are ridicolous in this vid. They live in a huge ass apartment and constantly talk about getting the fuck out. And when Eddie brings up a viewpoint about staying and trying to do good for the whole neighbourhood they guys just go "yeah thats exactly how i feel". Most of the time they dont even understand the point of what Eddie is talking about and just fake laugh or agree.

    All these comments that clown him for how he identifies or how he talks about white people, got me thinking. We've reached an age of interconnectedness, thanks to the internet, where races no longer own culture. We all have the right to dress, speak and act however we'd like and identify with any culture we'd like. If you walk the walk, it becomes authentic. He is authentically Eddie Huang and he does what he does well. I hate to drop a cliche here, but there really is one race. If you consider where your ancestors hail from, it's pretty easy to see that, black, white, yellow, brown, red, are all gross oversimplifications. Think about how those colors blend as you travel. I think these ideas (black, white, etc.) are generally clung to by people with a lack of understanding of where they come from. And they are propagated by the people that would benefit from dividing the masses. As someone with an irish/german background who grew up in a pretty culturally diverse area, I completely understand why people view "whites" the way they do, I just think it's kind of short sighted (see Minor Threat-Guilty of Being White with lyrics). Someone once said that "the empire has never changed". Western Europe was filled with tribes much like the native Americans, nature and fertility cults, when the Romans showed up with swords and religion. If you want to trace that imperialist shit that people like to identify as "eurocentric" you have to keep moving south and east, to Rome, to Egypt, to Sumer, etc. Power just moves from place to place. I'm not saying "white" people get a pass for any global wrongdoing, which there has been plenty, but the cross didn't come from north-western europe and the guilt does not lie on an entire race. The guilty are a select, wealthy, and powerful few. And the ruling class today is made up of a pretty racially diverse group of archons! And that's the problem with racism, it's a generalization. Have some crust punk stand next to dick cheney, and tell me who is "white"? Racism is racism, whether or not you identify as someone of a "minority group". When someone says "I know what I said, but it's not racism. I can't be racist because I'm... " it's cheap and a copout. What do you call an Irish racist? a racist. What do you call a Puerto Rican racist? a racist. Racism is shortsighted and easy, and it bolsters those divides that only benefit the oppressors. Maybe people should consider more thoughtfully what race really is and what culture really is, so we can stop laying claim to any of it.
    Eddie is rad, and what he does is rad.

    Many of New York people are so charesmatic. They seems so original in their urban culture. Even I know a lot of NY as a shithole, but people and atmosphere makes this City great. This guy who is filming in a video is also very authentetic. Even is talking ebonics, even if he is Asian, even if he is God knows where. Rest of World, at least a big cities, pretending to be a copy of New York. And like this guy said when he was eating fried meat in Moscow "America is using too much of soft power overseas".
