  • Lots of different bird species migrate through Texas in the spring, heading for cooler temperatures in the north (smart critters; we wish we could join them).
On the warm April day when this video was recorded, we were lucky enough to see an indigo bunting (the bright blue bird) and two Nashville warblers down at the water bowl. They are all gorgeous birds, but seeing them together made them seem even more spectacular.

My Dad learned celestial navigation as a navigator during WW II. I wish we saw the indigo bunting - or any of the more colorful buntings - up here in N. Texas! Thank you for sharing these lovely birds and the interesting information 😊

It's our pleasure! We have only seen indigo buntings twice - I think they're pretty rare down here in Austin, too.

Kool! I'm lucky to have seen cardinals in my travels! I remember seeing a Baltimore Oriole once as a 2nd grader in Napoleon North Dakota!

Yes, there was a brief appearance by a female cardinal. We have had lots of cardinals around this year. The males are gorgeous.

@@TexasBackyardWildlife My two younger sisters were thrilled at their first sight/sounds of cardinals when we took our 1st Three Sisters vacation. We'd been about to tour Tonto National park. They each still comment on the sighting!

We've only ever seen 2. This one, and one other who hit a window here about 3.5 years ago. We buried it with tears in our eyes, along with a fawn who was born in the middle of a sudden chilly rainstorm that day and didn't make it.
