Loved seeing all the colours. The Gold and blue reminded me of Tutankhamen. Looks very interesting what you’re all doing. Excited to see the next clue x
Brilliant, he said brilliant!!! Fascinating! I must confess that I love Stephen West. I have a treasure trove of his patterns. Now don't tell anybody but I haven't tried any ....yet. I tend to get excited at the sight of the lovely finished item and then freeze with fright! I am so scared, like the thought of steeking! I am so happy you are doing this. It will give me more videos to watch with my favorite Brit!!! So I will leave you with this thought....I think it is brilliant that you are doing this MKAL! I am just a voyeur. My imaginary project would be an Aran color with a heathered medium brown. It will go with everything in my imaginary wardrobe! See you next time, happy knitting!
YAY! Jane - you're alive! Phew....I've been worried about not seeing/hearing from you. You've been busy!! Ahhhh yes, many people in the shop say the same thing about his patterns! They are stunning. But if you're going to start then the MKAL's are great due to support and the amazing youtube tutorials. If not, choose another with TH-cam tutorials. I did. Oooooo Love your colour idea that you've got imagined! Well imagine away and join me over the coming weeks and see if it gets you so geared up you start one! (The botanic shawl is one of my faves. A classic and a great TV knit one too!!). So lovely to hear from you.
I got all the yarn and West pattern that NATR did for a knit along. It looks easy but I haven’t started it….. always something comes up, oh well. We are lucky that there are no expiration dates on our yarn and patterns! Your MKAL looks complicated but oh so beautiful. I just may get brave and try it ……. like the chicken affair! I never thought I would make one!
I just saw clue 2 and am very tempted to cast one on. I know I could catch up. I think I'd try to stick to stash though. Also, I know for a fact, Stephen's design process is just to start knitting and playing around.
the rate you knit - you sure could catch up! Is that his process hey? I can imagine, especially with his dance choreographer background, that makes total sense, experiemnt, play, try and see. The best way hey, I'm on youtube tonight at 8pm BST and will be talking about you as I announce our Christmas Window display Idea using your FAB pattern!!! Aiming to talk about it just after the Gallery at half 8, so if you're about, pop on the live and chat with us! Would be COOL! Stuart x
Welcome to Suffolk and welcome to the channel and Well done on finishing clue 1!! You'll have to make a day of it. Visit me in Long Melford first then pop next door for a cuppa and cake, then 20min drive to Hadleigh to visit Gavin and Teresa at Yarn Worx then have lunch then as you drive back to lowestoft up the a12, just stop off at The knitters Attic on the outskirts Woodbridge! what a day that would be!! :) Stuart
My knitting has been sworn at multiple times!!! Mostly because everything keeps getting tangled up! Have just stopped half way through the stocking stitch section for the bubbles as going slightly cross eyed and also want my wits about me for the tuck/drop stitches tomorrow before I hopefully move to clue 2. My one complaint so far is the number of bloody ends to deal with, other than that its enjoyable knitting. Gave up with stitch makers in the garter stripe sections as they were more hassle than they were worth
Oh those tangles!!! I bet.....but I'm so pleased I did loads of cables rather than all waste yarn or barber cords as I just joined them all with my two way extension and boom! no picking up! So the tangles were worth it to get to that point haha. I've just spent a bit of today sewing those ends in...I'm still behind...now about to start my first lot of bubbles to finish off Clue 1. Shame they didn't go into clue 2 then all would be okay haha.
Join Me and Gavin & Teresa of Yarn Worx on our MKAL 2024 Journey. Spoilers ahead!!! If you're doing it and don't want to know what's coming up, then don't watch as lots of spoilers! We'll be LIVE next Wednesday at 8pm and can't wait to chat to you all about the MKAL and how you're finding it. Have you sworn at your knitting? chucked it across the room? Dropped a bubble? Enjoying it? All these things we can't wait to talk to you about!
