Don't see many grain driers these days, so it's nice to see something I'm very familiar with. Alvan Blanch drier and what might have been a Turner cleaner. I operated that combination on two separate farms in my working life. The farmer I worked for in the seventies upgraded to a double flow Alvan Blanch, as the combines became faster. Happy Days.
37 years ago the first farm i worked on howden hall had one of these driers in the shed it was removed to fiit a newer one in the early 80s the big cast plate had a date of 1954 on it
Nice "normal" video after the frenetic LAMMA report yesterday; good job it's only one day a year. Gave up on our Trail Cam, got some good pics but was often unreliable.
i know the guy we stay with when we visit family runs a dryer similar to this, but his is blown straight into a boythorpe silo, we used to run ours through a opico unit, which emptied into a pit ,and was then blown into a big permastore silo and 3 smaller steel ones ,baker bryces i think they were, took a lot longer to dry than regs kit does mind,
My local farm supply place has ash handles for about £11 I think they are. Doesn't have to be the same brand they can be made to fit. I have several forks waiting to have the handles fitted in my shed. They get used a lot doing thatching straw.
Ian - the gate magnet situation.... could you pop a short piece of chain with a cheapo biner on to hold it back better? Even if you welded a chain link to the gate and clipped to that... A good size anchor bolt or screw/ washer would do it...? Could keep the magnet aswell to hold it but chain would keep it secure.
great video has always farmer p ian and Mrs p mother in law p Mikey mille baby pullen Sam emma Abbi and holli and miss biskit miss crumble miss gypsy miss pepper and miss pickle miss Muppet 👍

The magnet will work better if you can fix the disc that it came with onto the gate so they line up. It give a larger area to attract.
@@nigeljames1109 That makes sense.
Buy a new pitch fork and use the handle for the old one Trigger 😂😂
Here in Ireland we call the four prong, a graipe and the 2 prong is a fork😂
Things are going along MR, P. Everything looks good wheat is almost done happy days.

Hi Ian probably find one at your local builders merchants they usually hold tool handles, mole Valley should also stock them.
4 prong is a 2 prong with an angle grinder and a pipe bender

@@scottkrieger4701 I think it’s already sold and waiting to be dismantled Scott.
Question. Do you get any more for the grain because it has been cleaned? I know here the corn gets docked for high “fines”.
@@paulmiller8886
High fines and chaff can attract deductions.
bulldoghandtools have them in, £12

Get a magnetic out off a old speaker
Magnet 🧲 is looking good on the wall to keep the gate open.
