Cyber Viper is a great figure with a great sculpt he was just let down by his colours, imagine if he was done in black silver and cobra blue...and glittery play doh haha
I live near the stadium, a 10 minute drive took 35 minutes. My hats off and huge thanks to the Glendale PD for making traffic run smoothly. They have it down to an art.
Uggh, I remember this line probably due to the TV commercials. The Playdoh armor force and the water gun force. The 90's switched to flourescent/neon colors. Tranformers G2 reissued some of the G1 toys in brighter colors and used gold plastic. Though the 80's line had it brighter colors as well Sci Fi and Heat Viper come to mind.
Thoughts: 1) What an absolute gargoyle of a figure. A true car crash. 2) I almost think it was designed by a kid who won a competition, like they did in MOTU one time, and that's why nobody will own up to it. 3) Is that a Batman logo across his collarbone? 4) For the first time, I was hoping you would use the subject of the review to test the rocket launcher instead of Dr. Mindbender. 5) I hope you realise Alistair ate Voltar's gun.
Here’s a figure I wouldn’t have minded being issued as a complete reuse of parts from past, discontinued figures and a new paint job. Take the head from Range-Viper v.1 (the face plate looks kind of Terminator-y and the exposed brain-looking part, especially of painted pink, would have looked solidly cyborg-y; also the figure had been discontinued in 1991), the torso and waist piece of B.A.T. v.2 (discontinued in 1992), and the arms and legs of Cobra Commander v.3 (discontinued in 1989); paint the body black and sliver and trim in red, the face plate silver, the eyes red, and the brain pink; and - voila! - a figure that was worthy of the name Cyber-Viper and ready to hit the shelves in 1993 at little cost to Hasbro. I would do this kitbash myself but my painting skills absolutely suck, especially on something so small. 🤦♂️🤷♂️
I know Hasbro was largely beyond convenient practicalities largely by 93, but it would've been cool if the Cyber Viper had a peg on his uniform and include a piece of piping so he could use his cybernetics to operate the weapons. So much for a missed opportunity.
Keep reading comics and stick them up your a….I almost choked on my coffee! This was episode was hilarious .Timer and comic tropes really added some mirth .
I’ve always felt this would’ve been a better time to release Golobulus. Even though The concepts had been a little different. Golobulus would have been a better fit in the Mega Marines.
So that's how that's supposed to work? I remember no one could figure out what the playdough was for and why the armor fit so weird, they didn't exactly have instructions with these things.
I had the Cyber Viper it was an alright figure I didn't know isn't like an Army Builder it would have went well with my doctor Mindbender and Cobra bats I see that is a small army for doctor Mindbender
Cyber Viper, to me, symbolized a total departure from what made GI Joe such a successful toy line for some years prior to the 90s. It was the amalgamation of all things 90s with its bright, unmatching color scheme to its reuse of past weapons and garish sculpt. I mean, Hasbro didn't even have the common decency to de-sprue the accessories! The kicker though, is that it came with play-dough of all things. As a Military buff, there was nothing to get excited about when it came to these later figs and it's no wonder the line was canceled shortly after this figure released.
I’m not sure that it’s a bar across the mouth, it seems more like a cable or tube that enters the flesh around the chin area, it would be interesting to know the thinking behind the design.
I really disliked that spring launcher. Very cool to see the bio-armor in action. I didn't know about the rocket part. With robotic technology (S.N.A.K.E., B.A.T.S.) and surgical procedures on figure characters already (1986 Strato Viper, 1988 Hydro Viper, or 1990 Vapor) the Cyber Viper seems like a natural step. Cyber Viper is definitely different. Cyber Viper may have been an earlier version of Overkill (v2, v3, v5, or v6, v7).
Cyber-Viper kinda works as the very bottom-tier for cobra; like if you get gibbed enough they just bring you back with mismatch cyborg parts and put you in even worse missions.
Great review for a figure I've never heard of before. It was really fun 😊. I do wish there had been a little more detail as to what difficulties you had to deal with, but that's not too big of a deal I guess. Anyway, thanks for your hard work and not giving up on it.
If I'm being honest I say your standard joe articulation with you like a sing along. Lol! Btw that rifle has a real world equivalent I think it was based on. The H&K PSG-1 semi auto sniper rifle. Fits with the theme of Cobra grunts carrying semi auto sniper rifles. That one was made famous by Metal Gear Solid.
I only wish Hasbro had made an easy bake lab. Bake delicious cobra troops. 92 was my last year to collect vehicles, by 93 Hasbro killed my interest with IP chasing rip offs, cheap gimmicks, frankenbashing and neon colors so Battle Corps was the final wave I collected, and I never completed the 94 BC wave. That said... I would not mind the commercial version to be a classified version.
Dr. Mindbender: "Cobra Commander! Behold! The Cyber-Viber!" ( Cyber-Viber appear ). Cobra Commander: "........What am I ssssssuppose to sssssssay about thissssss?"
My god... what an ugly figure! Though watching this video did make a question pop up in my head. The different accessory trees. They have a mix of items from different years.... how did that happen? Did they create new tools for these trees using the old molds? How did Hasbro do the weapons before the trees and how did they decide to match what with what? It seems like there is a story there... a story far better than this horrid figure. Another great review Hoodie Coco!
Cyber Viper honestly looks like he belongs in another toy line. Plus, with no Cobra logo it only serves to reinforce this. If I were to make a top ten list of ugly G.I. Joe action figures, this one would definitely be on there. Also, it is really laughable that he cannot hold some of his weapon accessories.
Actually, the worst is the garish 90s chromatic palate used on it. If HASBRO had made him grey and black with a silver chrome for the cyborg arm/leg and wiring, that would have worked better (along with a COBRA Sigil as Timmer suggested)
Two weird questions: 1) did anyone else yell out "rock you like a hurricane" after Timmer said "here I am"? 2) am I the only one who wants the articulation run down on a t-shirt?
at least it's not the ice cream soldier or lobotomax
Cyber Viper is a great figure with a great sculpt he was just let down by his colours, imagine if he was done in black silver and cobra blue...and glittery play doh haha
Most of the figures in the Mega Marines subline had at least decent molds. They were all let down by their decoes, though
I like the asymmetrical fashion statement. Very Punky Brewster.
Punky and I are getting married.
Holy shit,I was today years old(40ish) when I learned about the warheads. I always thought that was part of the armor.
I live near the stadium, a 10 minute drive took 35 minutes. My hats off and huge thanks to the Glendale PD for making traffic run smoothly. They have it down to an art.
I loved the Ninja Force line personally. It kept me into GI Joe for just a LITTLE longer.
Same for me. Younger me ate the ninja stuff up. Hell,I didn't mind any of the 90s sub teams.
I owned most of the ninja force figures.
Ninja Force helped get me into G.I.JOE.

Always love a good crossover.
The Kitchen Viper was definitely a missed opportunity in the 90’s ARAH line. 😞
GI Joe Classified Mega Marines, you know you want them

Great video! Back to Steve, I mean Timmer!🤣 thanks!

I have been waiting a long time for you to review this figure! Awesome to see you do it!
I like how Chris lowkey ran with the asymmetrical '90s look.
Intentional. Thanks for noticing.

Great video, in spite of the figure! And the bits with comic tropes were hilarious
I've always seen the Cyber Viper as a kind of IT technical support trooper. Technoviper's are more hardware then software.
I love the Comic Tropes spot!
Keep reading comics and stick them up your a….I almost choked on my coffee! This was episode was hilarious .Timer and comic tropes really added some mirth .
I believe there was also a reference to Trash-Vipers in a comic as well.
Hightower Jersey!👍👍 Have you tried vegetable oil to re-constitute the “armor?” Worked on play dough in the 70’s.
I’ve always felt this would’ve been a better time to release Golobulus. Even though The concepts had been a little different. Golobulus would have been a better fit in the Mega Marines.
Someone needs to make a kitchen viper and the janitor viper.
Great video thank you
Usually when you review a figure I never looked at closely, I end up wanting one. Not this time.
Lol great job guys!
Super!!!! Thanks HCC!!!
Great video!
I kinda dig it.

Christmas Viper.
25:00 Comic book bloke criticising cyber vipers colours. Am I the only person that notices is hoodie......

Another great video mate
Missing a cobra logo!???
Y'all are wrong that character was awesome. 🤣
That left bicep is straight up an ear of corn.
Emergency rations provided by Corn-Vipers, I suppose XDXD
I really disliked that spring launcher.

😎👍
Maybe it is corn-emergency rations?
New Haslab project: Kitchen-Vipers with Evil Food Service playset! Or maybe some kind of heavily-armed catering truck!

Timmer would be sent over the edge if the figure was Raptor.
OMG! I wasn't expecting such a crossover!
pink torpedo lol

( Cyber-Viber appear ).
Cobra Commander: "........What am I ssssssuppose to sssssssay about thissssss?"
Back-to-back episodes for HTB and HCC788 🥸
Thanks for the review guys. What a weird figure
How do you keep Alister from messing up the reviews?
Letharneck should've been in mega marines.
I feel Timmer’s pain. The whole MegaMarines line was horrendous.
If these guys were still organic then they would've needed to eat. How did they do that with the strap over the mouths.
I agree with you 100%. I didn't buy any of them in the 90s. Worst subline in my opinion.

frankenstein-viper

They repurposed the idea/design of the cyber viper for the cyborg Iron Stormtroopers in the Sgt Savage line with better results.
Way to shoot mindbender twice.. so great
I always skip the articulation past. It is annoying Bro
Did Chris wear that very colorful sweatshirt in honor of this colorful figure?
Que Delicia
Horrible figure but wow pricey on ebay
Great crossover. Awful figure. The entire mega marines sub team is just awful and ridiculous. But thanks for making this an entertaining review.
Weirdness
It's one of those figures you really have to use your imagination when playing with it.
And some paint
*The* single worst (standard articulation) G.I. Joe figure of the ARAH run.
Two weird questions:
1) did anyone else yell out "rock you like a hurricane" after Timmer said "here I am"?
2) am I the only one who wants the articulation run down on a t-shirt?
Cyber Viper. How about Lemon, Lime, and Cherry Viper.
Wooot! Borg!!!
The way Hasbro managed G.I.Joe and Transformers in the 90s is what I take as one of the more emblematic examples about how DO NOT run a toy company.
It would have been better just to make them computer experts. Cyborg just wasn't necessary.
I had all of these ugly-ass figures....what the hell were we doin? bahaahh
The best Viper
Thank god I have no interest in neon Joe's.
