Thank you so much. Have really enjoyed all of these videos have learned so much. Btw that building you found would have looked beautiful to someone who was bursting at the seams. Thanks for taking me along, just loved it
I was at Spangler Spring at night a long time ago. I swear I saw a confederate soldier standing in a restricted area at the time in the corner of my eye. I could make out a whole figure of legs, body, arms, head and hat right behind the spring shown at 4:06. When I turned my head, because it caught my attention, it disappeared.
I just finished watching all of your Gettysburg videos. I enjoyed them greatly. I live in Alabama. I am planning a trip to Gettysburg next summer 2021. I like how you use J.R.R. Tolkien saying at the beginning of each of your videos. I'm reading The Lord of the Rings right now.
Hi Cliff. I have a picture of the spring taken in 1899 and it looks exactly how it does now. I also have a picture of it during the war and it looked more like the other one you saw with no back. Really just a hole in the ground. Just thought I'd share!
Man I cut over a hundred lawns in the city of Pittsburgh Pa solo 😂 I would do anything to just have a seat on that boulder just like you did 💯👍👍 you're the best bro
There is also Menchey spring nearby as well! This near the highschool stadium. There are Rock carvings very close to Spangler Spring As well! Culp’s Hill was a very contested area and most visited after the battle. Today it is Still visited but no where nearly as much. As much as “ghosts” are part of what Gettysburg has become a part of entertainment and books about the same sell, Well the majority are just made up. It sells! The battlefield has been restored to what It looked liked in July 1863. This was accomplished about 8 to 10 years ago! Cliff, my many thanks to you for visiting And sharing with us. I am a constant visitor With the Wheatfield holding my interest! You Do a great service in sharing your time with Us.......Please continue.... Folks please visit Gettysburg during Remembrance Day weekend this month. Google it to give you the info. I was the Parade Marshal(Provost Marshal) for Almost 20 years. Gettysburg and it’s Surrounding area Is phenomenal. Sorry for so much jawing!
Thanks so much for Gettysburg, very interesting!! Nice tale of both sides drinking water together. Modern spring house was great, like you I love the older ones. Did look like a little stone house. Anything stone or brick is amazing. Nice walk today. :)
To; Fast4Slow, thank you for your reply. I think Antietam might be more accurately maintained, as they seem to be trying to make it look exactly as it did during the time of the battle. While Gettysburg seems more about monuments and commercial appeal, the goal at Antietam is to recreate the atmosphere of the place, at the time. There are few statues and not many reenactments there. Its more like just a window through in time.
Thanks for the history tour. State History in PA must be a tough course! I was not interested in learning history from books but if it presented by your videos I would love it. LOL Squirrel!!
@@samanthab1923 - When you go look at the building that has Lincoln sitting in front facing the street. My tour guide said the building was used as a hospital for both sides.
The visitors center closes at 6 ... But the battlefield is always open from dawn to dusk everyday ... Check out Sachs Covered Bridge next time...it's a beautiful place. And in November they light the graves with lights it's a must see Glad your enjoying Gettysburg more it's a special place.
I'd never laugh at you for finding a bathroom. When your bladder gets to be my age, it's very important to know about restrooms where ever you are. I find it fascinating news.
If you can get a copy of the video Ghosts Of Gettysburg Part 2 by Mark Nesbitt there is a section where they talk about the spring and the nearby house and the story. 2 nurses came out to the battlefield and saw the lady and were affected by the sadness that they felt from her.
Great series at Gettysburg WW! I've been all over the battle fields and the area quite a few times. I didn't see the woman in white but I did get anomalies on film and video. I have talked with a number of people who did see her and have seen pictures of her as well. There is also a story I heard that the woman's lover was in the battle and they planned to meet at the spring at night. Unfortunately he had been killed. So this story says she has been looking for her lost lover ever since. So who knows for sure. You may want to take Mark Nesbitts ghost tour sometime. He was a ranger there at one time and also a great historian. If you. Want to find out some of the exact history he has many booklets of the haunted stories of the battle. I have about five of the booklets. Thank You Kindly for you visit! It has saved me a 70 mile journey, although I never get tired of visiting Gettysburg. Peace and Pacing over great trails of beauty and history! DaveyJO
I haven seen that building in avery long time, I was 10 years old at the time I am much older now. But that was their public bathroom. Gettysburg is a beautiful place i would like to live there
The bathroom fooled me too. It would be nice to see what this area looked like during the war. I doubt all those trees were there. Nice video though, thanks
Hi Cliff, what a shame they decided to completely change the look of the old spring, maybe the weight of all the new stonework has stopped the spring from flowing. Thank you for taking us along. x
The building you are looking at was their public restroom it has been closed for a very long time I remember because as a kid I used the bathroom and the door jammed on me and I crawled out the window to get out funny now but I wasn't laughing at the time
I know this is old video but my eye got fixed on the black thing way yonder in the back on the other side of the fence , I thought it was a tree at first but if you watch it you can see it turn and it has some kind of long slender thing in its hand don’t watch you talking pay attention to the back ! Idk might just be going crazy lol also it looks as tho it bends down and you kind of see what appears to be a couple of heads in the grass beside it !!
The actions made by the “woman in white” ghost can be explained, actually. Based on legends of ghost sightings at other battlefields, she could have either been looking for wounded soldiers who could be taken to a hospital, or she could have been trying to find a relative among the dead and wounded. After battles all over the world, people did exactly that, and then, of course, there were looters of the dead bodies, as there has always been. Of course, if there actually _is_ such a ghost, from what I know, she would have had to have died while doing whatever it was she was doing on the battlefield in order to be seen in ghostly form. But then, what kind of reasoning can be applied to an aberration??
I watched this video with headphones on when you set the camera down I walked over to that rock if you listen closely I can hear some type of ghostly voice saying something but you need have headphones on check it out

Such a beautiful, peaceful place
Really pretty place...enjoyed the springs...The bathrooms sure fooled me too.
You've done a good job on your tour.
I'm surprised more people were not out there. Also people report cannon fire in the distance, I've heard recordings of that myself.

Glad your enjoying Gettysburg more it's a special place.
They have signs up now which say the park grounds close at 6.
Unless it was officially sundown, the park doesn't close at any specific time. However, its great that you love history.
Looks such a peaceful place now. You wouldn't wanna be there 156 years ago

Friend I love you and your beautiful videos will you ever come to haunted North Georgia thank you
My Great Uncle (to the 7th power) owned this land, and the spring is named after him.
Last time I was there, there was running water. It was setup like a water fountain. The town of Gettysburg has haunted tours.
FYI I've been known to impersonate a ghost or two while at Gburg.
Don Nicholas That's what I thought 💭 it would look 👀 like, a fountain. Kind of disappointing.
I remember first hearing about the haunts on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries. Plenty of books 📚 by Mark Nesbit. I think he runs the tours also.
@@samanthab1923 Same here! There's a lot of videos on TH-cam about this. I've been in Gettysburg about 3 times. I never felt anything ghostly though.

The bathroom fooled me too. It would be nice to see what this area looked like during the war. I doubt all those trees were there. Nice video though, thanks
The tree lines remain the same. Few witness trees though. And the underbrush would have been grazed away by cattle and pig
It was flowing when we there in april
allen grimes Oh I'm glad 😁 to hear that. It looked so sad 😭
Yes that bathroom is special for the person that has to go to the bathroom. Thank God for bathroom s 👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Enjoyed the story of the white lady .
The story of The Woman In White is a tragic, heartbreaking story.

Maybe she was looking for something on the battle field.
Where is a good sight that you can look up your families names and units and civil war records and regiments that they served in!
