- Kentucky basketball is about to take on the Tennessee Volunteers while being down two of their starters.
On today's episode of Locked On Kentucky, Lance Dawe previews the Kentucky Wildcats vs Tennessee basketball. Mark Pope has his work cut out for him, as the Cats go to Knoxville to play without Lamont Butler, Kerr Kriisa, and possibly Andrew Carr. This is about as tough of a situation the Wildcats could find themselves in as they get deeper into SEC basketball play. Can Jaxson Robinson handle the offense? Can Amari Williams actually step up and make plays down low?

This could be (could be) an important game. Sometimes, we seem to win when nobody thinks we can which says we can win when we want to enough (ie. tournament time).
Happy to be way wrong about my prediction for this game.
Love your broadcast! You call it both honest and fair. Not many sportscasters can say that. Keep up the good work! You have fans up here in Montana.
A tough game just got even harder 😢 I'm not sure what to expect tomorrow night... Go Big Blue!!! #BBN
Come tournament time, an SEC team with 10 losses this year will be treated like a 5-loss team in any other conference, and rightly so. Every single SEC team will have over twice as many ranked opponents on their resume as anyone else.
People have to understand Pope is trying to allow Krisa, Butler, and Carr to get healthy. We may or may not get Krisa back. Butler has had the ish beat out of him all year...Carr is dealing with a back injury and it has showed when he was playing hurt. I think this is a smart move by Pope. Try to get your guys as healthy as possible before the tournament
This one’s gonna be hard to watch. Do they still make Valium?
At this point, I'm just hoping we make the tournament.
Personally I feel our best chance is to race down the court and shoot a three within a couple passes and just hope we get hot. The longer an offensive possession goes the worse it will be for us.
Man, how right you were
Doesn’t matter. If they just lost to Vandy, they weren’t going to beat Tenn on the road even if they were fully healthy. This team lacks toughness and physicality, and can’t defend.
Tennesee also lost to vandy on the road lol
@Pogocapalotand put up a fight
@@GoatedAtNFS so did ky lol
@@Bballeruk11 i swear people don't watch basketball they just look at the score
@Pogocapalot I’ve watched every game. This team is soft, they aren’t mentally or physically tough and don’t have the physicality need now in the SEC. They also aren’t good defensively.
Those are the reasons for every loss.
Agree Trent Noah should be getting more playing time!
I believe Vandy beat Tenn also! That makes me think that this could be a close game!
Love these videos. You teach me alot plus I never miss anything kentucky basketball
Unfortunately theyre pissed about the Auburn game (which they let slip away) and looking to make a statement at home. Which is a hard enough place to play.
it’s a major upset if we win
The Cats, without a healthy Butler or Andrew Carr, will struggle to stay with the Volunteers tonight. The Cats front line is less productive than most and the bench is thin. If the rebounding stays anemic and the passing turnovers get into double digits, the Cats will have a hard time winning at Tennessee. Center Williams needs to display some offensive skills.
Pope should have played him more when we were winning by 40
Tennessee wins 80-55. No. 1 defense at home. Kentucky hobbling in with injuries. Brea has been cold since Florida. Defense gets worse without Butler. Offense is noticeably worse on the road. No chance. This one gets ugly for our Cats.
I think your right.
Tennessee has only put up 80 points a handful of times against really bad teams. Do you WANT us to get blown out??? Yes, we are hurt! But where is your spine, Catfan?
@@jt1765want us to get blown out? Hell no! But look at what we’re up against. We lost by 20 (20!) to a subpar Ohio State team. Losing by 25 to an elite Tennessee team isn’t farfetched. What’s more, our defense has been bad. And everyone knows it. Lamont, our best defender, will be on the sideline, which makes our defense even more vulnerable. Tennessee can score a bunch on a bad defense. And we have a bad defense.
@@BigBeast227 eh well it is what it is I guess. Whatever happens I just want us to get healthy so we can make a push to end the season going into march. We’re in a tight spot right now and the injuries suck more than anything
@@BigBeast227 huh? What was that????
I think your actually spot on Jaxson has got to run point like he did against Gonzaga and that is when he is at his best because he has to play aggressive. Noah is out there banging bodies like he's Chuck Hayes. Perry will play because he has to. We need him to show that scoring ability that he had in high school.
Lamont should be sitting, because Arkansas is a more winnable game, but it also feels like Coach Pope knows they can’t reasonably win this game in Knoxville. Or at least it’s a long shot. I fully expect them to shoot more 3s than in any other game this season. That’s the only chance. Jack up a ton of 3s and, hopefully, hit them.
You don't know Coach Pope. He would never think there's a game they couldn't win.
@@lonelystickler7566Butler would be playing if he thought this game would be close. Pope has hope, but he’s also smart and reasonable. He knows how important Arkansas is. A loss at Tennessee doesn’t hurt us all that much.
zone,zone, zone hit the 3's.
We're going to be really short-handed, but I think the cats will fight like hell!! I pull for Travis Perry, but for scoring such a huge amount of points in high school, I do not see where he will help. Don't mean to knock the kid, but he is nowhere near what I was thinking he'd be. He's had so many opportunities and not took advantage of any of them. He must have had tremendous teammates in high school because he didn't win that state title alone. Let's go, Cats!!
Travis Ford sucked his first year at UK too. I honestly don’t know what you people expect
Travis gets in two or three minutes at a time, how can he do much? Let him try it for 20 minutes a game and the points will come.
I like us healthy , Tenn at best can beat anyone & gave Auburn game away and wins that game bye 10 in Knoxville if u watched the game u know but they are beatable also because they don’t put up many points .but the absolute worst thing about this game is Tenn is coming off a loss and will be bringing so Pope better have us ready and lately it hasn’t looked as good as it should .
Williams hands are like hot butter, note to him. STOP DRIBBLING!!!!!!!!
Jaxson is lazy on defense. Amari plays like 6' vs being 7'. We probably will taking an L for the game because it's hard to win on any away games. It was a tough loss against Alabama on our court. It was especially tough losing to a subpar Vandy team. The refs are playing too big of a role in the SEC games especially on away games. Kentucky really needs Butler , Carr and Ker because Jaxson and Amari have been subpar or inconsistent. We need to be more physical with teams as long as the refs allows it. we didn't develop our bench enough before SEC play. Our bench especially our freshmen can't play in tough SEC games. I agree some teams actually don't play good basketball. It's more like bully street ball.
I can’t believe UK let Jayden Quintence get out of here , that would solve all of our frontcourt problems , Rim defense 😂he’s top 5 in blocks in the nation & we let Arizona State outbid us on him smh . Would have been nice to have had him for a few years .
Zieglar has struggled with bigger guards. With jaxson on him his scoring will take a dip and he will become more of a passer
I think Coach Pope is setting himself up for a good excuse for this 20 point loss coming up. Well, we are really banged up and missing some key players. This was a loss with or without our guys.
Really? What about pope makes you think he is looking for that? This isnt Cal bud.
Fair weather fans really just aren’t fans. More like bitches.
laughable. Missing 2 starters against a top 10 team on the road is not ideal. But give me a break -- it isn't like pope is protecting their draft status of those guys like someone else we used to have.
Just sit down man.
Dumbest comment winner.
10-4 fouls in TN favor…..what a shock to KY
shocking
76. 73 ky
Stop with the amari slander hes been just fine all year. He's had his ups and downs, but it he hasn't played too the level you expected, you need to lower your expectations because he's been our second best player based on analytics. The only player that really hasnt shown up like they were supposed to has been jaxon robinson.
It's becoming evident that aside from Otega Oweh and Jax Robinson, the rest of the healthy players aren't enough to carry this team to a win over Tennessee;; Too many turnovers, too few rebounds, and a lack of offensive scoring. it may be a blowout in Knoxville.for the Vols.
81-74 Vols
75-74 Cats
Cats lack toughness, they don't have two of their starters, they are on the road against a team that held Auburn to less than 60 points, their three point game is mediocre..They don't have a chance!!! Then we still have Auburn to come, Alabama at Alabama...not good for Kentucky
Honeymoons over huh 🤣🤣🤣
just starting
Only for the minority of jerks who can’t handle adversity
@@lonelystickler7566CATS!!!
Tenn 79 UK 65
TOILET TOP TENNESSEE GOING DOWN!!!
KENTUCKY 78
TENNESSEE 77
85-69 Tenn
No way were gonna beat Tennesee we are gonna loose by 30 points no Lamont we couldnt beat Vanderbilt on the road how can be beat Tennessee Carr is injured Kriisa may be done for the season. To bad I am saying this about Kentucky its really sad.
Lance...what if Carr DID play? And what if we DID hit shots from outside? In this scenario, i think Kentucky wins 92- 83. 👊
Stop with the what if's. Live in reality. What if John Wall and Anthony Davis still played for UK
@popcornjoe3752 see your what if's aren't possible...🤷♂️
@@popcornjoe3752...see how all of my "what ifs" came true...thanks for coming out, kid...😂
More like a eight or nine seed
I don't see Kentucky going lower than a 6 seed
@@Marshall_Weber I don't see Kentucky winning 6 more games.
UK should have never cheapened out and let Arizona state buy Jayden Quintence out from under us , watch he will be one of the best players in the nation next season , 17yrs old top 3 in blocks right now averaging 10 pts 8 Reb 3 Bills on the season and 17&12 over past 3 games 😢
@@B-Eazy999he’s a one and done. we don’t need him
@@beastmode2803 then you don't know basketball
We're gonna lose by 25.
Then don’t watch? No reason to be negative.
I want more Perry. Less Robinson
😂! You definitely wanna loss.
I was thinking the same thing it’s gonna take a big game from Jaxson to win this game
You like losing
Pretty will be great in asa Junior. All these people will be sorry that they keep bashing him I hope he transfers and ends up averaging 20.
@popcornjoe3752 he could score well in a much softer conference. Hes a high school player not a college player. Hes a great kid and did well in high school this isnt high school.i would love to see him go to bellermine. EKU somewhere he can come off the bench and supply a team with 5 fouls and a break for there pg
Pope could take a lesson from John Calipari - i miss our coach
CaL won at Tennessee and Alabama on the road last year but they run him off. I support Coach Pope but sure they will run him off
Gotta be a Arkansas fan ! lol Pope coach of the year !!!!
Travis Perry would be better off to transfer to a mid major school if he really wants to play a lot of minutes. It won't happen at Kentucky this year, next year, and so on.
