Whitman really reigned in Gathje's aggression and got him to focus on his talent.
I remember a while back Justin said Whitman trained Justin for whatever Justin’s goal was. In the beginning, his goal was crazy fights and KOs.
Once he told Whitman his goal was a belt, Whitman started training him differently and Justin has grew in composure and control since then. Says a lot about Whitman, and Justin’s coachability.

Gaethje just needs to take rest of the year off. Between Fiziev and Poirier, he only had a 4 month break. So technically right after the win against fiziev he went right back into camp. I wouldn’t be surprised if Charles pulls out his fight against Islam in October. Gaethje should just chill and train for the rest of the year and come back with a lot of options in 2024

It wasn't a left or a faint though. It was a straight right hand that connected and followed with a right kick. That's why it was hidden so well, a right kick after a right punch is pretty rare. Only a few fighters throw it fairly often, Yair Rodriguez being one of them. Yair was definitely not the first to throw it, but he was the first to show it could work pretty well.
