We are divided a lot by rural vs urban. Just because there is a lot of red doesn’t mean much population wise. The small amounts of blue hold an exponentially larger population.
For instance, I live in Minnesota where if you look at a map there is much more red. However MN is hard to turn due to the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. More than half of the state’s population is packed into only like 4 counties. Just something to consider. Political maps are fascinating.

The polls actually gave us an accurate view of what would happen, but you just had to look at it by comparing her numbers to Bidens numbers at the same time in 2020, and Hillary’s numbers in 2016.
