Support monarch: energy transfer, energy field, superior chassis. Hit and run monarch: missle racks, rapid rearm, multi-target missles. Damage monarch: arc rounds, malestorm/rapid rearm, XO16 accelerator.
I used to run arc rounds, but now I run missile racks and aim my rockets at the feet of the Titan usually. Highly effective in my experience but a lot of Monarch is personal preference and reminds me of TF1's Titan customizability
The best build for a Monarch anti titan is Arc rounds (Anti Ion),maelstrom (Anti Ronin) And Superior chasis ( Prevents crit damage, double target lock Tone, and energy regeneration for Ion) The Northstar can be slow down with the defensive ability and the Legion quickly dies from the maelstrom + Arc rounds Also the Scorch shield is pretty much useless against arc rounds an with his low mobility can't escape the electric smoke
I'm 4 years late, but this is exactly how I've been running monarch since they released the chassis. Just to add to the build, using the double boost helps with mobility, being able to both throw off enemy aim and get behind them for free hits. Great Titan for defense and offense
Normally for Monarch when playing Attrition, I run Survival of the Fittest (Extra battery backup boost for pilot), missile racks, maelstrom, and superior chassis. I definitely agree with you that arc rounds + accelerator is extremely viable, and I hadn't really thought about it the way you compared the kit I run vs that kit (with the extra damage output, you can get shields faster). That definitely seems like a very good reason to run that kit vs mine, all comes down to playstyle. The main reason I run the kit I do is that in Attrition, if I make to at least 80% core charge with my second core, and get doomed, I can bounce back and pop in my saved battery backup boost, get myself out of the doom state, and then heal myself 5,000 HP because the battery will get me the extra 20% to core 3. Doesn't have the best DPS, but I have lasted full matches of Attrition in one Monarch with that strategy.
not sure if this was covered in the previous video, but Rearm also restores your dashes, so a standard engine monarch technically has 2 dashes, while a turbo engine monarch has 4.
I haven’t tried the chaingun build much, but it looks fun. That being said, Monarch is surprisingly strong as a brawler. Take missile racks, maelstrom and superior chassis. The thing is, monarch is all about building core and you can’t do that by sitting around. The best way is to damage titans. As a result, what matter most is a ratio of damage done:damage taken. She also has no instant burst damage. The damage ratio is not in your favour if you try to peak, as most titans will outdo you and will kill you before your core is up. Long range can do well if titans don’t spot you, but most of her upgrades don’t boost long range damage so even at lvl2 you won’t be outdoing anyone at long range. Her rockets, combined with the slowdown of the zap and rearming them, have huge damage output with missile racks. At lvl 0 you should try and focus on favourable engagements (ie 2v1s), but once you have missile racks, you can do up to 6000 damage in 2 uses of the ability. Get up close to a titan that isn’t legion and use your fast dashes, erratic cqc movement allowed by the easy to hit nature of the chaingun, plus your stun and rockets, and you’ll burst down most titans pretty quickly. On top of this, it puts you right next to them for a sweet battery rip execution. The damage blocked by your shield, the damage avoided by your erratic movement and the damage healed by the battery rip will often leave you not to damaged and with an almost ready core. From there you just keep going but adding your maelstrom smokes and mega-health and you may not live that long but you’ll get huge value out of your titan. The faster you do damage, the quicker you get free shields and smokes too, so it just keeps stacking.
My Monarch core build is Arc Rounds (to tear through most shields), Maelstrom (to heavily counter Ronins and termination enthusiasts), and Superior Chassis (more health than an Ogre plus no weak points). I run Overcore and Energy Thief as well.
I run this build too! I call it the "brawler monarch". The only difference is I replaced overcore wth double dash so I can get more executions and whatnot.
My only problem with monarch is the inaccuracy of her gun when dealing with pilots in long ranges. I try tapping but they easily escape my line of sight before I can kill them.
My role in my team is medic. I use monarch with energy transfer, rearm and reload for spamming the the energy siphon to take or give shield and superior chassis for being able to take more damage when I’m in the thick of it.
As a northstar main I would advise to avoid getting up close with a good northstar until all their allies are dead or elsewhere. Any good northstar sticks with at least one ally for protection if they get rushed and getting up close is often a death sentence. The best time to get close to a northstar aside from that is in vtol or during their core as that’s when northstar are vulnerable mobility wise and can’t back out to their optimal range.
I don't know if this was mentioned in any of the 2 parts but doesn't energy siphon go through multiple targets? I've hit 2 perfectly aligned titans and I got double shields but go ahead and test to confirm
There is the smoke monarch: Arc rounds, maelstrom, superior chassis. You basically just stun everything and run through and drop smokes whilst people try to chase you. Which they will since this only works in a public setting. And pub players get tunnel vision whenever they see a monarch, or a ronin. Match ups: All these take place in a 1v1 LTS setting, no boosts, batteries are in play. Against northstar: If you can stun their dash and their hover and you can maintain that line of sight, you can take her down. Not unlike a ronin v northstar match up. Whoever has the better positioning, strategy and mobility will win the engagement. One titan doesn't counter the other in that specific case. If northstar can maintain that gap with good mobility, ronin/monarch simply won't catch her. The match up goes in favor of ronin if batteries are in play, but a proficient northstar will punish those battery pulls with a bar to a bar and a half worth of damage. But if the ronin gets that core, things get a lot harder for northstar if she didn't punish the battery pull. Monarch's biggest worry is legion, with that instant double power shot (hidden compartment) and sustained DPS from his mini gun, monarch can really do nothing due to her lack of defense. Monarch actually counters tone due to her salvos being able to deal with particle wall very easily and her kits (turbo engine + rapid rearm, the LTS meta kits) allow her to dodge tone tracker rockets very easily. And without the tracker rockets hitting and the monarch maintaining that line of sight on tone, it goes in the favor of monarch. You gotta stop counting monarch as is she starts out with core 3 already active. She doesn't. A legion will tear through monarch due to her need to maintain sight of her target to deal good damage. Two double power shots is burst damage monarch can't contest with. You see legion, you run. Legion being fat doesn't matter, he can outrange you in every meaning of the word.
I use superiwr chasis core upgrade on monarch to burst through titans to get in an execution and than that exicution will just regain all my lost health
Chaingun Monarch, If ya want a titan with a Devotion, Use that Monarch and Northstar get the LEAST love from me, Sadly, But I Love Monarch in Frontier Defense, The energy thief Execution helps you stay alive for a hella long time
Maneuverability vs. static core boost... a frustrating question indeed- but one I think there's a solution to, which hinges on Rearm.Rearm recharges not only your abilities, but your dashes as well. You could adopt a Ronin-style attack pattern with Turbo Engine: dash in with one dash, give 'em a Siphon-Rocket one-two punch while dodging as needed with the second dash, Rearm, then dash away giving the enemy the same one-two punch, interspersed with chaingun fire the whole time. The downside is, you open yourself up to damage in an assault like that, but you're still maintaining the agility of a light Titan while also earning almost, if not the exact same charge that Overcore provides.Would you be able to test the viability of this?
Sounds like an interesting build, it is easy to overlook the dash reset that rearm provides, I'm just not sure how it would go considering that in order to gain full value, Monarch needs her core upgrades, and in order to survive that long it does require conservative play styles. Tigerstorm 6 in things other than TB I got 33 kills in attrition without a single death in my monarch. The extra rocket upgrade and malestrom is amazing! Can't be rodeod and pilots get shredded with the rockets. Avoid Titan combat and keep your team alive! Never let your team 1v1 always support them. Makes them win all the time so you stay in your Titan and crush pilots.
I’m a year late but sure. So basically monarch has a core that is different from the other titans. Instead of give you a huge burst of damage like laser or flame core etc you will get an upgrade. There are 3 stages. For stage one you have three options to choose from arc rounds missile racks or energy transfer . One you use your fore for the first time your one of the 3 upgrades I mentioned that you selected will be applied to your Titan. Then stage two you have 3 others upgrades to choose from. They are rapid rearm and reload maelstrom and energy field. One of the 3 upgrades that you selected will be applied the next time you use your Titan core. And the last stage. There are 3 upgrades to choose from. Superior chassis multi target misiles and XO16 accelerator. One of the 3 upgrades that you chose will be applied when you use your core for the third time. If you use you core after having all upgrades or using your core 3 times you will just get a full shield for your Titan
I find the accelerator start up time makes it less viable than the chassis upgrade... makes arc rounds/maelstrom/superior chassis the most effective build long term.
I would agree if arc rounds wasn't in the picture, but the clip size increase means that the spin-up speed is less of a problem. The other factor is that because shields are your primary defence, you will have one up most of the time, now shields also negate the additional damage from critical shots, thus lessening the comparative effectiveness of superior chassis. - Ascendance
4FS Gaming shields can be drained pretty fast by titans like tone and Legion. Also you're forgetting that Monarch is basically free food for pilots due to her lack of a shield type defensive ability. I'm having more problems dealing with pilots than with titans with Monarch and honestly it doesn't matter if you can melt titans when that one dude with a charge rifle and phase shift slowly melts you from a distance. Superior chassis really helps you in this situations and I performed a lot better on tier 3 with it.
I think Superior chassis is the best choice for competetive gameplay just due to the fact that it removes all weakpount vulnerabilities. I tried playing against good players so trust me high dps isn't going to help you if you can't defend yourself against a team of titans with good teamwork.
Against players that always hit their crit shots, it probably would perform better, fortunately most of the people in general population are not accurate enough like me haha! - Ascendance
Ush Yamamoto it doesn't matter where you fight from if a bullet hits your crit spot. Good Legion and Ion players can hit your crit spot from miles away.

To make Support-Monarch more viable, I personally think that the shields teammates get should be doubled. But ONLY teammates.

I normally just wing it. Its worked out for me so far, so why stop now?
Counter Ready pairs well with Maelstrom, as you get two smokes with every upgrade.
Tone and monarch is a good team, cause of the Pixel wall .
