I adore her, but this wasn't one of my favorite albums. So much of it just sounded the same to me.

Sorry Babs, but Wild is the Wind is the only memorable song on the entire album ... totally forgettable. Thousands and thousands of movies, and this is what she picks? Major fail.

I totally agree. What was she thinking? Ugh, such a waste. I was so disappointed when it came out.

I agree, but did you know this album was a victim of circumstance; Barbra first mentioned she wanted to make an album of movie songs during a speech in her own 1986 One Voice concert. In that concert she gave away the best song intended for the Movie Album, Over The Rainbow from Wizard of Oz, as a live performance. On that same concert she sang A New World from Judy Garland’s 1950’s movie of A Star is Born. Those two songs were meant to be in the Movie Album. Then in 1994 she sand the medley of Disney movie songs, live in her The Concert tour, in that concert she also sang The Man That Got Away, also from Garland’s A Star is Born. In 2001 she recorded Someday My Prince Will Come from Disney’s Snow White and included it in her greatest hits compilation The Essential Barbra Streisand CD, All these were gems that would have taken the spot of so many of the boring songs that ended up in the actual Movie Album, just a year later. Even sadder is the fact that a few years later she recorded the studio version of Pinocchio When You Wish Upon A Star as a duet with Mary J Blige and included in Blige’s Christmas record, but it also gives you a glimpse of how nice it would have been to had it included originally in Barbra’s original Movie Album

@@Mirror1973 Great research my fellow fan! I was never big on her the Disney songs; I thought they were all too lightweight for someone of Barbra's vocal prowess. I guess we can all think of countless movie songs that she could have done, but I'm guessing getting the rights to them (and paying for them) got in the way of a LOT. Also, Babs was never big on infringing on other artist's material.
