We’ve known testosterone can cause hepatic cancers for decades. It’s not news. I’m also shocked that the similarities to anorexia nervosa are not considered more- both groups of patients assert beliefs about identity that are not in keeping with reality. One group is detained and force fed in the interests of their health, the other are encouraged and given help to mutilate themselves.
The female body is a very unique thing. Lots of hormonal stages and physical changes as she progresses through puberty, menstruations, pregnancy, post-pregnancy, peri menopause and post menopause. Pumping it full of the WRONG sex hormones sounds like a terrible idea

Excellent point about the anorexics. The main difference is that the trans group has a religious ideology guiding them. They believe in the concept of an innate, sexed identity or soul that is distinct from physical sex and should be the basis on which society is segregated. The fact that they've managed to convince those without body dysphoria to believe this too shows how weak and malleable our species really is.
True, although it's not just about giving then the wrong hormones, it's suppressing the RIGHT ones too. Puberty isn't just about sex. We need puberty for our hypothalamus to mature. It controls so many things. I was horrified to read this quote from a doctor at a major children's hospital who explains how puberty blockers shut down a child's hypothalamus, which controls emotions, sexuality, and the aesthetic sense. Children are being left intellectually, emotionally and sexually stunted for life. We are allowing this to happen. Here's the quote: "This medication is called a "gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist" and it comes in the form of monthly injections or an implant. And because it simulates the activity of this hormone, it shuts down the activity of the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is this almond-sized structure in your brain, it's one of the most vestigial structures we have, and it controls all the other hormonal structures in your body-your sexual development, your emotions, your fight-or-flight response, everything. Marci Bowers, boss of WPATH, is the trans identified male surgeon who operated on Jazz Jennings, who needed multiple surgeries to fix things that went wrong. Bowers is on video stating that a child who is put on puberty blockers at Tanner Stage 2, then onto cross sex hormones, will never have an orgasm as an adult. The hypothalamus needs puberty for you to become sexually mature. Those kids will also be sterile, as they won't produce eggs/sperm. How can any child give informed consent to giving up sexual feelings for life before they even experience them? Who can give informed consent that your adult self will never want to have a child? Jazz Jennings is now in his early 20s. He feels no sexual attraction and can't even tell if he's heterosexual, bi or gay. It's heartbreaking to see. He will never experience sexual feelings. This is child cruelty. He has multiple related health issues. I hope he sues his parents. They, and Bowers, should be in jail.

They even say on "I am Jazz" that Jazz may be A-sexual like that is completely normal and is just as valid a sexuality as homosexuality or heterosexuality and wasn't directly caused by having his puberty blocked.

His 20% regret rate isn't a good analogy anyway. Hip replacements aren't done based on whether or not you identify as needing one, where as with transgenderism as it stands that's the entire diagnostic criteria at the moment. So it's incredibly difficult to justify having a 20% regret rate for transgender treatments.

This 'special' was amazingly well thought out and put together and did, in my opinion do its best to present a balanced view. A subject that is so very important and one which so needs exploring and poses questions for which credible answers are imperative. One reason why someone with high pitched voices may be taken less seriously is because children tend to have higher pitched voices. However, that's no excuse for people to treat women at work differently to men.

If an adult chooses to change their gender, that's their choice and the best of luck to them. If a child wants it, no! They need to go through puberty and know what sex is like and what they're losing before it's taken away from them forever. As was pointed out, this isn't like diabetes where you can have regular tests to determine the status of the condition, whether it's getting better or worse, and what meds you need to stop you dying. Whether you believe or not, whether you care or not, unregulated diabetes actually kills. Being gender dysphoric will not kill you. The psychiatric problems that come alongside it may well make you suicidal, but lopping off bits of your anatomy and making you sterile is unlikely to improve that. Proper psychiatric treatment and support to identify the issues (although I question what good modern psychiatry does. So long as they focus on fitting you into a box instead of dealing with you as an individual, I suspect very little), an end to promoting this as an option to children which seems to have caused a social contagion, and helping them deal with things until they discover they're not trans, they were going through a phase, or they're gay or yes, they ARE trans and now they're old enough and they know what they're about to lose, is the better approach. Why are they SO keen to make kids sterile?

I didn't think hip replacement is a valid comparison. If one's hip is damaged, that's something physical that can be objectively seen by an external observer, whereas trans identity is entirely psychological and subjective.

The trans woman's example - who transitioned as an adult - simply cannot compare to transitioning minors and people below the age of 21. Minors simply cannot consent. Yet this Robin individual whines about 'toxic environment' (when most usually trans activists are the ones who refuse debate) and also cites unsourced data about supposedly less than 1% de-transition rate. PS: Yes please have Genevieve Gluck back on the show. And Helen Joyce too.
There is a 'study' that claims regret is very low. 40% of the people in the study getting treatment dropped out, and were conveniently ignored when they calculated the 'satisfied' statistics. It's easy to say 'most are satisfied' when you totally exclude the 40% who certainly weren't.
So many actual medical institutions(American Academy of Pediatrics, American Psychiatric Association) have become deeply invested in this ideology. I don't think we'll see them changing their positions, at least not in the near future. I expect they'll be doubling down any time now.

I was more sympathetic than I expected to be, after hearing "transition or jump off a cliff" especially at age 40. I still think it's irresponsible in the extreme to promote that notion to kids. Getting it into their suggestible minds that any pushback or delay may lead them to suicide may very well be self-fulfilling, plus there's no evidence that transitioning helps in that regard.

An alcoholic boyfriend of a member of my family used this exact threat the night before her final university exams. My premiere of Alberta, Danielle Smith, has spoken out against “gender affirming care”, secrecy between parents and teachers regarding their children, and has been really getting skewered for it. Excellent point about the anorexics. The main difference is that the trans group has a religious ideology guiding them. They believe in the concept of an innate, sexed identity or soul that is distinct from physical sex and should be the basis on which society is segregated. The fact that they've managed to convince those without body dysphoria to believe this too shows how weak and malleable our species really is.
True, although it's not just about giving then the wrong hormones, it's suppressing the RIGHT ones too. Puberty isn't just about sex. We need puberty for our hypothalamus to mature. It controls so many things. I was horrified to read this quote from a doctor at a major children's hospital who explains how puberty blockers shut down a child's hypothalamus, which controls emotions, sexuality, and the aesthetic sense.
Children are being left intellectually, emotionally and sexually stunted for life. We are allowing this to happen.

Marci Bowers, boss of WPATH, is the trans identified male surgeon who operated on Jazz Jennings, who needed multiple surgeries to fix things that went wrong.
Bowers is on video stating that a child who is put on puberty blockers at Tanner Stage 2, then onto cross sex hormones, will never have an orgasm as an adult. The hypothalamus needs puberty for you to become sexually mature. Those kids will also be sterile, as they won't produce eggs/sperm. How can any child give informed consent to giving up sexual feelings for life before they even experience them? Who can give informed consent that your adult self will never want to have a child?
Jazz Jennings is now in his early 20s. He feels no sexual attraction and can't even tell if he's heterosexual, bi or gay. It's heartbreaking to see. He will never experience sexual feelings. This is child cruelty. He has multiple related health issues. I hope he sues his parents. They, and Bowers, should be in jail.

Hip replacements aren't done based on whether or not you identify as needing one, where as with transgenderism as it stands that's the entire diagnostic criteria at the moment. So it's incredibly difficult to justify having a 20% regret rate for transgender treatments.

If an adult chooses to change their gender, that's their choice and the best of luck to them. If a child wants it, no! They need to go through puberty and know what sex is like and what they're losing before it's taken away from them forever. As was pointed out, this isn't like diabetes where you can have regular tests to determine the status of the condition, whether it's getting better or worse, and what meds you need to stop you dying. Whether you believe or not, whether you care or not, unregulated diabetes actually kills. Being gender dysphoric will not kill you. The psychiatric problems that come alongside it may well make you suicidal, but lopping off bits of your anatomy and making you sterile is unlikely to improve that. Proper psychiatric treatment and support to identify the issues (although I question what good modern psychiatry does. So long as they focus on fitting you into a box instead of dealing with you as an individual, I suspect very little), an end to promoting this as an option to children which seems to have caused a social contagion, and helping them deal with things until they discover they're not trans, they were going through a phase, or they're gay or yes, they ARE trans and now they're old enough and they know what they're about to lose, is the better approach. Why are they SO keen to make kids sterile?
It's not right that a birth certificate can be changed, imo. And i will be lobbying against all of this. The trans lobby pushed too far, and now people, like me, are waking up, and I will be peacefully pushing back. I can't believe it got this far. That individual saying there are very low levels of regret well how do they know this has only really accelerated over the last few years and the ramifications have yet to be seen! The trans woman's example - who transitioned as an adult - simply cannot compare to transitioning minors and people below the age of 21. Minors simply cannot consent. Yet this Robin individual whines about 'toxic environment' (when most usually trans activists are the ones who refuse debate) and also cites unsourced data about supposedly less than 1% de-transition rate. If there are studies that the gender affirmation guest said there are about low regret she should name them so they can be reviewed and questioned.

There is a 'study' that claims regret is very low. 40% of the people in the study getting treatment dropped out, and were conveniently ignored when they calculated the 'satisfied' statistics.
It's easy to say 'most are satisfied' when you totally exclude the 40% who certainly weren't.
Also low regret doesn't refute (or support to be fair) the notion that these procedures are being pursued by mentally disturbed people.

So many actual medical institutions(American Academy of Pediatrics, American Psychiatric Association) have become deeply invested in this ideology. I don't think we'll see them changing their positions, at least not in the near future. I expect they'll be doubling down any time now.

I was more sympathetic than I expected to be, after hearing "transition or jump off a cliff" especially at age 40. I still think it's irresponsible in the extreme to promote that notion to kids. Getting it into their suggestible minds that any pushback or delay may lead them to suicide may very well be self-fulfilling, plus there's no evidence that transitioning helps in that regard.

An alcoholic boyfriend of a member of my family used this exact threat the night before her final university exams. I suggest that its a lot easier for someone to say "oh, i regret that knee surgery" than it is for someone to say "i regret completely transitioning gender in every way". There is a psychological component, an empotional component, a biological component, a physical component, a social component (probably the biggest one!), where you told friends, family, coworkers, and the world that you are the opposite "gender".
