    Looks like a great concept. How about using tip out windows which would prevent rain from coming in and would double as an emergency egress?

    Hello sir, once you install your AC, I really would like to see the type of unit and how you ran the exhaust. Really interested in this unit.

    I bought the chair off Amazon but I had to search for awhile to find the one that was 7 inches thick and memory foam .There are so many of them 4 to 6 in thick. I will go back on Amazon and see if I can find the same one and let you know.

    Is that truck bed mounting system still in R&D or are the rolling that out currently?

      I don’t know what the official word on that is from the company. But I can tell you that I have put 2000 miles on it in all kind of winds weather and driving interstate speeds and it is so secure. I have zero concerns about the setup.

    Serious question, What if you’re in there sleeping and someone closes the tailgate? Do you have the remote drop tailgate?

      I have a remote tailgate drop I keep my back up fob for it in back just in case I definitely had to figure that one out .

    Would 2 adults with a big dog fit the bill? I am looking at this and the Radica Moonlander. What is the dimension of this? I have a 6.5 ft bed Tundra and the spec I found on their website show that it is much longer than 6.5 ft.

    • @curtiswhite8613
      @curtiswhite8613  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was looking at radica as well . I love their product also. I went with this because it is already insulated and it is just me and my dog. Mine is basically 4 ft x 8 ft and that really would be tight for two and a dog. Radica atleast you sleep sideways over the rails. Now that being said still reach out to tusca they are looking to expand their customizing options for customers.

      @@curtiswhite8613 I think a custom made Tusca on top of the decked system that enlarged to cover the wheel well would add more spaces.

      I’m wanting one of these but trying to decide between the solo and the other one that’s wider and goes above wheel wells, I like the solo better but it’s just me and my 80lb. Lab and not sure if the solo will be a little too small.

  • @kennethkilpatrick3758
    @kennethkilpatrick3758 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    That's a great camper. I think I'm going with their wider size on a Decked drawer platform but I like the lower profile of yours. Is it about the same price?

    • @curtiswhite8613
      @curtiswhite8613  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The regular price for the standard one is 2750 but the changes I had them make for me came out to 3450.. They gave me one other option of their standard length cause they already had forms for the two side walls that would have saved me a few hundred dollars at 3250. But I wanted the maximum length I could get in my truck bed.

    • @kennethkilpatrick3758
      @kennethkilpatrick3758 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@curtiswhite8613 That's very reasonable considering the prices out there these days. Thanks for the video!

    • @kennethkilpatrick3758
      @kennethkilpatrick3758 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just realized I didn't catch you giving out price near the end of video. Two things I noticed. Doesn't seem to have the power port on the end the wider version has. But the sloped end doesn't seem as sharp a slope, giving you a bit more headroom on that end. Overall it's a great design. I've been looking at pop top canopy campers and certainly wouldn't mind being able to stand up, but the cost of these and the insulation value is pretty hard to beat.

    • @curtiswhite8613
      @curtiswhite8613  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes I almost forgot to give the price I paid 3,450 for everything. To add the custom sizing and all. I forgot to show the port. I had it placed around the corner from there normal placement because I have an inverter plug in built into my truck and I knew I wanted to be able to recharge while going down road. I did not know if it would interfere when I closed my tailgate. I wanted to be able to keep tailgate shut because I like my backup camera.

    Can a guy cut a hole in the side and install a baggage door to fit a 5000 BTU air-conditioner?

  • @angelogarciajr5356
    @angelogarciajr5356 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Maybe it's just me but looks small inside. I am getting a high rise campershell for way more room. Looks like it may be hot in summer. Last comment, if someone shuts your tailgate as you sleep, you are trapped. Good luck.

    • @curtiswhite8613
      @curtiswhite8613  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I thought about someone shutting the tailgate but I have an automatic tailgate release I keep the spare FOB in back for that very reason. I bought a small 2500 BTU AC unit for summertime and it has more room in there than you think. I went with this over a regular camper shell for 3 reasons. 1) its insulated 2)it cost less than a high top camper shell 3) it is actually water proof I have never found a camper shell that no matter how much weather stripping actually kept the water out for long. In my opinion it is a far superior product to a camper shell. You can take it in and out of vehicle without having to try and reseal it. It’s called the hitchhiker after all . Try that with a camper shell and if it didn’t leak before , your camper shell will for sure be leaking then. And to be honest camper shells really are not produced well everyone I ever had A.R.E or Leer paint was peeling and latches did not work and plexi glass was nasty and you could not see out of them. If I wanted to go with a more traditional truck cap I would probably look at something like Radica Moonlander that is the direction I was leaning before I found Tusca . Good luck

      @@curtiswhite8613 It can also be put on a utility trailer sized per personal preference and be pulled by almost anything, eliminating the need to purchase a $60K “pimp” truck, which seems to be all they make these days.

      Put a pad lock on the latch on the side of the bed that will prevent the tailgate from closing.
      There's also nothing stopping your rotten friends from running a ratchet strap around your camper either to prevent you from opening your doors.

  • @ralphcantrell3214

    Thanks for the video! That's really cool that they worked with you and made you a one-off camper per your specs.
    I'm a minimalist too. I camp several times a year and go motorcycle touring in the mountains, and sometimes Wifey tags along. My '99 pickup recently bit the dust, and the enclosed trailer we always camped out of ended up becoming a storage shed. I prefer to buy new vehicles and drive my money out of them, but I am simply unwilling to purchase a truck at this time because of all the craziness and price gouging etc etc going on. So I'm thinking a standard HitchHiker for Wifey and I, and a utility trailer big enough to haul it and a motorcycle to the mountains makes more sense. That's like a "mini toy hauler" that I can pull with either of the SUVs I already own. It would be like tent camping but more insulated, weather resistant and even bear proof. I could also use the trailer for lots of other things, which will definitely delay my having to replace my truck until things improve - maybe even forever! 😎
    Thanks again, and happy camping!

    • @TN-ez6lz
      @TN-ez6lz 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This doesn't look bear-proof but I like the idea of putting it on a trailer and having a mini toy hauler. Much more economical and versatile than a new truck.

      @@TN-ez6lz It sure beats a tent when in bear country. Even if a bear came along, I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t know how to attack it. It would certainly afford me ample time to wake up and get prepared, if you know what I mean. 💥💥💥💥💥💥

    I saw your RV Transport Channel. I’m a transporter too. I pull mostly airstreams, so I rarely use my 5wheel hitch. I do, however, have a 118 auxiliary fuel tank in my 8’ bed. It sounds like they could customize the box to accommodate that with a step-up similar to a truck camper. Then I could build a platform bed to match the height of the step up. It would all come down to $$$. What’s the cost of your particular unit?
