- Recently reopened after a refurbishment, we are headed to one of our favorite restaurants from years past. Tonight, we are having a date night at Narcoossee's, a wonderful seafood restaurant on the water at the Grand Floridian with views of Magic Kingdom in the distance. Will this restaurant live up to the new hype and our memories of it from years ago? Let's find out... Enjoy!

I’m writing this note from Narcoossee’s. We went based on your review and we are not disappointed. I just want to highlight the fact that the almond cheesecake is literally the best that we’ve ever hand. We live in New Orleans and have had some phenomenal cheesecake. This is the best ever!!!

We ate at Narcoossee's twice this past trip over the holidays. Dec 27th and 30th. Loved the atmosphere, food was great and my favorite old fashioned on property to date. Both times the guard let us in to park in the normal parking lot. First time we got the 3 hr pass, second time he didn't even give us a time limit. Was very happy to get to park normally. The bartender told us they were planning on changing the parking rule after the 1st. They must have received enough complaints.

Yup. I agree with the video 100% and was as outraged when they asked me to go park across the street. I told them I was gonna drop off my wife at the front and didn't. I just parked in the regular lot. But I'm pretty sure enough people were pissed at this idiotic change that they finally did away with it. We need more people to call out Disney when they try skimping or screwing the guests over. Great video.
Love Dan’s passion!! So sorry that was your experience when you spent so much to enjoy your meal. This is not the same Disney we used to love.
Unfortunately until fans stop going they won’t get back to their old ways that made Disney so great.
Oh my goodness! I live behind MK and drive Floridian Way daily and have noticed Guests walking across the street at that light. I think it’s absolutely ABSURD to make paying dining guests make that hike across the street, into the resort, and then out to the restaurant (in Narcoossee’s case). I agree with y’all’s response & reaction 100%. I’d also DEFINITELY send an email in to have it in “writing”.

I'm so sorry to hear about veey unprofessional experience due to the negligent and mismanaged decision by the G.F manager. I must say your review of the the restaurant was nothing less than exceptional it made me want to go and ear a bunch of calamari right now for my birthday which is this coming Monday next week 😂🎉❤ It will be my 49th Birthday 🎉🎉 It's hard to fathom I'll be celebrating my big one next year.

Long ago when I did the Disney College Program, I worked at Boardwalk, and you are absolutely right....a nano-second after I walked out the door to get to Cast Member parking, my professionalism and customer service went to total sh!t LOL. Really surprised that they are asking dinner guests to park in cast parking, especially at the GF. Sorry that happened to you guys, but I really appreciate the food review. I definitely wanna check Narcoosee's out..

I’d be pissed off about that parking too! Sorry that put a damper on the night. Happy to hear the food was amazing! We have a reservation next week at Narcoossee’s BUT are staying at a Disney resort so will use an Uber or Disney transportation. Thank you for a great review.

Thank you for your honest review. The restaurant looked wonderful, parking not so much. I understand why the GF would try to alleviate the issue of parking, eating and then going to a park but this is not the way to do it. There really has to be a better solution.

Hi Dan and Leslie!! Another wonderful review!! Even with our AP discount, Narcoossee's is out of our price range. We have a reservation at The GF Cafe coming up and truly hope the parking situation will be fixed by then. Staycationing at The AKL so we may utilize Disney Transportation to get around instead of using our car. Thanks for the heads up!!

I bet the CMs are not happy about this either. I am not sure what their parking availability is like but now they will have to vie for parking with guests. Thank you for speaking to the GM to at least voice the concern. I wrote a letter years ago about how displeased I was when they started charging for parking at the resorts. And like 5 years later, bam it was fixed 😂

I just made a reservation at Narcoosee’s and we were going to drive from our resort. I appreciate the info. We are just going to keep the car at our resort and Uber over (I’m not thrilled about having to do that) instead. I’ll also follow in your steps and voice my concerns to a manager as well. I’m taking my wife there for her birthday and was not planning on someone else doing the driving. It devalues the occasion. I’d cancel and go to Le Cellier but it’s her night. Thanks again for the info.

Hi guys thanks for the video! We got some of the same things about 3 weeks ago. The one thing we tried that was probably the best or top 3 of the meal was the pineapple dome dessert !!!! WOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!we all thought the cheesecake was ok but just ok. Nothing very special but that pineapple dessert was unbelievable!!!!! To anyone going skip the cheesecake and get the pineapple one instead!!

Thank You for the PSA on Facebook , had reservation at Grand Floridian yesterday Thanks to your PSA adjusted our time for the walk , we just got out car in cast parking lot and a Amazing Maintenance Cast Member said ladies would you like a ride to your reservation? We accepted it was a wonderful conversation about his 30+ years a Disney we arrived 20 minutes early checked- in walked around shopped got text table was ready at our reservation time . Amazing meal then we got caught up in the Beauty of Grand Floridian and stayed 10 minutes to long as we walked to light at Floridian Pl and it Poured Rain the Crosswalk NEVER changed we stood there for 10+ minutes in pouring rain waiting to cross . Took our opportunity and ran across the street shoes in hand because I went with what looked good rather than what can I run Disney in the Rain .

Thank you ever so much for your reviews!! Please keep voicing your experiences and for speaking up!! Let upper management hear and know this was not a good a decision at all with the parking. Why didn’t they provide a shuttle service even on a golf cart? I so want to go eat there again and see the refurbishment.

Hey guys. Wifey and I have been going to Grand Floridian 3 times a year for the last 20+ years. We have seen a steady decline in service, product, staff attentiveness, and quality. We can remember when fresh flowers were every where. We always stayed concierge either in Sugar Loaf or the main big house. We have paid over $7-8k for our stay each time we visited.( not including food or tickets ) Paying that kind of money you expect quality. They provide "free" wine and beer for concierge guests. The last time we went they had $5 bottles of wine for us to drink, horrible. It used to be somewhat of a deal for us but now it's a cheap rip off. Your story lends fact to our experience over the years. Can't believe they made you park across the street. Now for Narcoosse's we love it. Most staff members have worked there for years and we have become friends with most of them. Shout out to Sergio at the bar. Vic and Al's WAS one of our faves, but no longer, again, cheap rip off at best these days. Thanks for the honest review. We are coming down in Oct for the Wine and Food Fest. We are trying the concierge in the Contemporary this time. We love the Cali Grill also...Thanks and keep the reviews coming...

I agree with you all, if it had been me and my family i probably would have taken it personally. Like my car wasnt good enough for their parking lot or something. Like we look to poor to be there lol
I guess, , trying to prevent non Grand Flordian guest, having a meal and ride the Monorail and go to MK versus parking at TTC. Those scallops looked delicious!! Great review!

Having just stayed at the Grand in early May I can’t help but wonder if this change is due to the fact that hotel guests have been having a hard time finding parking. When I was there I don’t think I saw an empty spot all week and would watch cars make dozens of laps around the lot trying to find parking while I was waiting for the bus. I overheard a lot of resort guests comment on it being hard to find parking and I’m sure guests brought it up to management
I’m sure that’s probably the case, but this isn’t a good solution to that.
They should make guests dinning at their premier restaurant have complimentary parking like they do at Point Orlando
Every time that I dined at Narcoossee's, (pre-refurb), the outside "porch" was always packed shoulder to shoulder with people such that there was no way to enjoy the view while dining, and certainly no way to see the Fireworks. Have they done anything to remedy that? Thanks for the honest and thorough reviews. Best ones on YT, without a doubt.

The parking situation. Unacceptable esp when dropping hundreds on dinner they should let guests valet and redeem that being said the parking situation is def due to that poly tower being built they probably lost those spots
Great honest review of the entire experience, not just the meal. Did you get any feedback as to why they put the parking for dining guests there? normal lots too full, saving for staying guests, other reason? And to confirm, that is for ALL dining locations at GF?
They didn’t offer a reason, only that it was a recent change. Yes, it’s for all dining guests not staying at the hotel in a room
@@AddictedtotheMouse OK, thanks for the feedback. We are eating at Grand Flo Cafe in a couple of weeks. But, we'll be at MK that day so can probably take monorail over -- saving us this hassle. Uggh.... really shocked they would do that at their flagship resort.
Good evening y’all, definitely need to head to Narcoses’s. Headed to the boathouse for Father’s Day. The parking situation is messed up. Security should haven given you the flyer to park at the hotel. The reason they are doing this is evening park attendees not to abuse dining to get better parking. They made you park with the cast because they don’t want to enforce it. That’s more or less disciplining guests needlessly. Poor management.

Was just wondering? You mentioned construction, sometimes unforeseen consequences can truly mess up good intentions. Those being trying to keep guests as close as possible due to parking accommodations being disrupted by construction.
In this case, the construction was not the cause

Service was a bit uncomfortable and over the top (my beautiful family, beautiful lady) that was off putting. All these higher end Disney places lay it on a little too thick and "icky"
Food was very good, enjoyed the space

We just dined at Citricos last week and the parking issue was not magical. Especially since there were many parking spots in the main GF area.

Used to love Narccusis was there 2 months ago not worth the money anymore heartbreaking.
Why wouldn’t they let you valet park and then stamp your ticket? Maybe it’s a space issue? We just went to Citricos and had no issue. Must be a new policy…
They said it had just started recently. Absolutely agree they could validate valet parking after the meal
Unfortunately, this change was implemented because guests were abusing the ability to park at hotels on the monorail. They would make a morning reservation for breakfast, park there then jump on the monorail spend the day in the park and come back and not have to pay for parking or the hassle of the transportation zone.
Totally get it, but this is a bad way to counter that. Accepting bad show bc a few guests are abusing the system is lazy and not up to Disney standards.
Is that a Southern Hills shirt? Long story, but my step grand-grandfather was a founder of SH. However, looks like a wonderful meal. Weird about the cast member parking. Sure that was an anomaly. Hopefully, future meals will be handled more appropriately.
Yes! I worked there for over 7 years as the Director of Facilities until last year. Very cool about your GF btw. Not an anomaly though…they’re still doing it with the parking, although I think now they have at least separated CMs on one half of the parking lot and diners on the other 🤷♂️
Given the circumstance, they need to offer complimentary valet parking.
Question… with more DVC rooms etc, is it possible they were running into issues with resort guests not having parking due to dining guests taking spots? I’m a busser when I visit wdw, so i’m not familiar with that. Perhaps issues with people dining and heading to MK instead. I suspect tow trucks would also be bad show and difficult to do on a large scale. Just trying to see it from their perspective. How frustrating all around
I’m sure that’s part of it, but I don’t think there’s anyway to justify that if they want people to come back.
wish i watched this earlier, i had the same GF parking experience going for breakfast on tuesday, 12/12, so disappointing.
Just finished the podcast. This is probably not very nice but I couldn’t to watch the video. If the podcast was Dan cooled a bit about this situation, this is going to be amazing! 😂

I feel bad for that CM. Instead of changing this ridiculous situation, they’ll probably make some absurd policy about CMs not being able to take their work attire off in their own parking lot. How crazy! Patrons should 100% get to park in an appropriately closer lot.

Suggestion: You should consider sending an email about the parking experience. It is good you both complained but writing the experience with a reference to this review can move change. No question this needs to change. It colored your entire experience as it would anyone's. Are they trying to push guests to use valet parking?

The days of sight lines and good show at WDW are long gone. They don’t care about those things anymore.
That is absolutely absurd. I would have been totally pissed and definitely made that clear to any manager I could get to. I’d like to see what the Victoria and Albert’s patrons say about that.

The parking problem stems from a lack of it. Should the hotel send guests paying $1000 a night to this remote parking, so restaurant guests can park close to the hotel?
Nope, but they shouldn’t send restaurant patrons there either. There are many acceptable solutions, none of which they are implementing. They could comp valet, they could run a shuttle to “overflow” parking, they definitely need to separate CMs if they are going to be stripping in the parking lot. There is no defense to what they are currently doing

I also love Narcoossee’s. I’m sure I’d hate the parking debacle you went through. But, you went WAY overboard on the complaining.
For a $250 meal, it was really bad show. I think it was the right amount of complaining
Hate, hate, hate seafood. I literally can barely get it down, has next to no taste to me, and I don't find it filling at all. So would only go if my date or group really wanted to and order the NY strip. I will eat shrimp cocktail or scampi as an appetizer. But that's about it.
The GF is very poorly managed - they need to fire the GM and put The GM of Rivera in charge . Try staying as a guest - laundry carts pushing you off the paths , staff barging in rooms to do unnecessary room checks Just a nightmare from a service perspective

You said in the review that you're season pass holders. I have to ask why you wouldn't consider parking at Magic Kingdom and taking a boat or monorail to GF? Thank you for giving me a heads up, I will be looking for alternatives than watching a strip tease by the cast members.
Well we might have if we would have known what the parking situation was at GF prior to showing up 5 mins before our reservation, expecting to park in the main parking lot. They really have to at least tell people before they show up what they are making them do now. But, why would we park anywhere else if we could park in the main lot, which we have always been able to do before when making dining reservations?

@@annlee368 it is a way of personal expression that we connect with pretty deeply. There’s something about having a wonderful artist create a unique piece of art that requires a significant commitment on your part in time, money, and suffering that makes it part of you in a way I can’t describe. You can really only understand when you sit in a tattoo chair for multiple hours and come out on the other end.
Having worked at Disneyland with many people who knew Walt and not that long after he died -- your experience was truly BAD SHOW, but each time I go to the parks, I see other examples of bad show. Disney -- start paying attention. (Let me further date myself by saying my Danny Disneyland Days were before Dan & Leslie were born.).

Just prior to covid, they almost weren't going to let us park anywhere near the hotel when we were renting a boat. I guess we looked pathetic enough for the guard to let in. But if I had to take a guess, I would suspect enough people have abused the parking lots for a quick meal at Grand Flo Cafe (or Kona at the Poly or Steakhouse 71 at the Contemporary) and then leave their cars there all day. Still wouldn't make me happy! I just fly into town now and Uber everywhere...🫤
