Tim's a master tunesmith, and I love that Missy sings with an unabashed Aussie accent.
Tim Minchin is such a star. A wonderful composer. And missy Higgins, such an interpretive singer. A gourgeous thing.

Nice to see a bit of Missy Higgins on the channel. She’s a great Aussie songwriter herself. I discovered her music back in 2004 whilst on a working holiday in London. Her song The Special Two always reminds me of that time.
Wow! It was like watching a candle flickering in the core of someone's soul and remembering how I would have once said that about someone I loved in the past while simultaneously resolving that I no longer feel that way about them. This was beautiful! 🩷
This is one of my all time favourite songs. Tim's ability to blend heart felt lyrics with beautiful music is truly mesmerising.
He didn't just write the song, he's also a writer of the TV show Upright itself as well as the star. Well worth watching if you get the chance, it's so well written and Tim is a talented actor.
Tim wrote this in memoriam of a good friend of his who passed away.

His mother passed away this year and Tim released this four years ago. In “Upright” his character’s mother was dying of cancer, so this song was very poignant when he sang it then.

This is a reflection into something every person goes through sooner or later, a loss that you carry forever in your heart.
These precious moments we get with someone we love beyond all others must be woven into us safe and deep to be carried with us through our life.

Both outstanding Aussie performers...a stellar song from Tim and beautifully performed by Missy.
Tim is incredibly deep. Much deeper than a lot of people give him credit for. even his comedy stuff can be quite deep, just in a twisted way.
As you say this song was written for Upright - a story in which Tim's character is trying to make his way back to Perth to see his sick mother. Tim's mum (who lives in Perth) ended up actually getting sick around that time and passed away a few months ago while he was on tour around Australia. Can't imagine what performing this song every night would have been like for him 💔.

Great reaction. This is sort of my life now. Separated (after 11 years), but living together, and still plan to retire on the plot of land we bought years ago, but in separate dwellings. Living together, but not being together. It's quite bittersweet. xxooxx

Tim wrote possibly one of the greatest love songs. It's funny, but so damn beautiful at the same time. It's called "You Grew On Me". The final line he refers to a mole - dunno about the UK but here in Aus it's a derogatory term meaning a prostitute or someone with zero morals. His double meaning lyrics throughout the song are nothing but pure genius.
Upright is a wonderful TV series. The final song in the 2nd series is called "Aeroplane" and is even more beautiful than this one (didn't think that'd be possible, but...Tim Minchin...). There are a few videos of it on the Tube - "Billie's Song" is my favourite. Would love to see your reaction Charlie. Keep up the great reactions.

Absolutely adore Tim but have never appreciated Missy. The song is beautiful but would much rather a different vocalist for this one
I really love her voice but I know where you're coming from. There are a bunch of other artists I would LOVE to hear sing this
