Another introduction to a previously unknown building. Thanks.
I do love that formed concrete, but I feel like grabbing a rough scrubbing brush and giving it all a good vigorous clean. That darkened debris left over by trees and southern light that moisture attracts reminds me of plaque on a good set of teeth.
Churchill house- My Dad worked there on a short term secondment back in the '70s. We had one car, so Mum had to pick him up after work probably for Friday late night shopping in Civic, although he did often ride his bike from deepest darkest Belconnen. I've only been in there once to sign a contract for work when we were employing a contractor. Thanks for sharing these old brutalist buildings in a better light, it's really opened my eyes to them.

I'm so glad to see this building coming back to life, it's one of my favourite buildings on Northbourne and it's looked so lonely for a few years now.

50 Years on and buildings such as this still invoke in me an excitement and anticipation in the possibilities of the future, creating the space and platform for this future to unfold.

Yeah, it's not the only building in Canberra that had them. Quite common around the place in the 70s.
Great editing Kevin, love the change and a great walk-through too. I love the way that the details described inform people about the unique qualities of these 'boring, brutalist buildings' as I have heard them described more often that I would like.

And the building is indeed awesome. Seems like Robin Boyd is such an interesting architect. Walsh House is amazing and this Churchill House (which is not a house, thanks Kevin for clarifying this to me) is such an interesting piece, full of amazing details.

Thanks, again Kevin and Andrew for the depth in this video. Would you both be able to do a short segment, perhaps even within one of your episodes, on the purpose of architecture? It seems evident in terms of improving human experience, but I wonder if that is the best way to articulate it? Although it could be argued that I'm missing something, or even that this is not the best way to frame that question. I wonder what you both think.

What a shame you didn't reach out to the owners of this building. My husband would have happily shown you around inside and explained why the building was never dit for purpose.

timber boards don't line up and some are vertical :)
yes is a lost art and now we have modern forms and props and speed
