Her absolute greatest live performance! Those flawless vocals! This is a prime example of when a live vocal performance is even better then the studio track.
I have a musical fantasy in my dreams, she and Karen Carpenter do multiple duets together. Would have been heaven sent, as both ladies were. RIP, beautiful souls.
My mistake "Sam" was released in January 1977 "Sam" as the third and final single from the Newton-John's eighth studio album, Don't Stop Believin' and peaked in the U.S. at number one on the Easy Listening chart and number twenty on the Hot 100.[4] It reached number six in the UK Singles Chart. Olivia was 31 when she recorded the live '82 music video. She was 32 when it was released. Olivia was 28 when she made 'Grease'.
If you want to hear some crazy falsettos by her listen to her recording of "Please Don't Keep Me Waiting", the first song of her album "Totally Hot" and a minor hit single.
One of the truly great underrated voices in pop music history and this performance is possibly the best example. The voice control and those runs at the end are spine tingling....A voice straight from the universe and a beautiful person inside and out
Yo man, you are cool, spot on with your analysis, you have a great voice and spot all of things that are important. Excellent reaction to my favourite Olivia song.
This is my all time fave Livvy song. I have loved it since I was a very little girl. This was on her greatest hits volume - I got it on cassette for my one of my childhood birthdays. My sister and I wore that tape out!
OLivia was almost versatile, you may heard from her: jazz (Cry me a river),, Bossa Nova (boy from ipanema- Vinicius de Moraes), Beatles covers (the long and winding road), Middle Age music (Greensleves), Clasical (Ave Maria-Schubert), soft rock (gimme dome lovin´), country (jolene, duet with Dolly Parton, both 72 years old), great ballads (don´t cry for me Argentina). She was too much for pop only.
Great reaction to the great ONJ. 🙏 She was a marvel and what a voice. She and Karen Carpenter were best friends from the 70’s. Last June I requested a reaction to a certain young lady singer. She covers both Karen and Olivia and does justice to both. Below I’m linking her short cover of Sam. I reminded you of the request and I hope you react to the Carpenters cover I linked under Karen/Ella. Her name is Tori Holub and you aren’t going to believe it. Also, NO autotune or pitch correction, a natural voice. Joe Sam: th-cam.com/users/shortsWzrpXaZKT7Y?si=XCOpKZRfLQGjqVm8 .
I know Im not on patreon but surely someone on there has suggested "JP Cooper - Call My Name (Gospel / Live)" It is stunning. He is so up your alley and you already checked out a couple of his songs. His gospel live versions are next level. Please check this out if you have the time.
Yes, our girl Olivia certainly was one of the best, pitch perfect and for someone known for her "breathy, light sound" she could sure belt when she wanted. If you though her vocals were insane on that one, then give a listen to her live version of "Jolene" from this same concert back in 1982 - it will give you goosebumps, I can guarantee it! th-cam.com/video/CjZ8piWwrmE/w-d-xo.html
i think this is true but i am not sure . i heard dionne wrwick once said about onj voice that the record companies actually had her keep the tone light. she actually had a very powerful voice as well. like i said not sure if this is true
Hmm...Interesting if that's true. I remember when I saw her live that I was surprised by how strong her voice was because her recorded hits don't really capture her strength.
Sam was released in 1979 before the movie 'Grease' came out. Olivia was 32 years old. This performance of 'Sam' is perfect. You should watch Wings of Pegasus analyzing of this performance.th-cam.com/video/7LRU4p-TNcY/w-d-xo.html
Sam was released in 1977. Her best recordings were before Grease. Then came Totally Hot, which was great! Then the Xanadu hits. I wasn’t a fan of Physical era, only the concert, which she performed spectacularly!
Why do you think Mariah Carey was a fan of Olivia Newton-John?, because she learned those whistles notes from artist like Olivia and Minnie Ripiton who did it long before Mariah Carey did.
She was so underrated as a vocalist. Nobody hits the high notes so effortlessly as Olivia!❤
Her vocal talents were overshadowed by Grease fame.
She was a star on earth, now a star in heaven. RIP Olivia.
Olivia Newton John was not only beautiful but was an amazing singer. RIP ONJ

Beautiful Olivia ❤
RIP beautiful lady. What a gifted and talented woman she was. It was great time to grow up listening to her and others.

Great reaction. I’ve loved Olivia since I was 7 years old in 1974. Her voice was amazing, not to mention her beauty.

Brilliant artist!
That entire concert is first class. All amazing musicians and Olivia doesn't hit a bad note the whole night.
This is one of olivias best songs. I absolutley love her as a artist. I will always love her now and forever more. Ryan r
She was amazing! This is a good performance of this song. It showcases her range and control so well 🌹 ❤️
One of the truly great underrated voices in pop music history and this performance is possibly the best example. The voice control and those runs at the end are spine tingling....A voice straight from the universe and a beautiful person inside and out
Wonderful had not seen this version before
@@ChristinePomeroy Oh it always made me cry and it's even more poignant now she has gone. To me it's possibly her finest vocal performance.
❤❤❤
From this same concert, she did a version of Dolly Parton’s Jolene that was so awesome! She hits these notes that feel impossible!
“Ain’t nobody saying nothing!” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
She was really amazing and her work for the movie Xanadu was really good too
Whaaaaaat??? You really sing like that??? Amazing voice 😮😮😮😮❤❤❤❤❤
RIP Gorgeous Olivia. One of the most beautiful and instantly recognisable voices
Welcome! I grew up listening to this angel. Her voice was beautiful.
In 1982 I spent hours in my bedroom listening to ONJ and trying to sing just like her. Years later, My late husband said I did. Best compliment ever!
I absolutely love your reactions every time.
Livvie can siiiinnngg. I am glad a new generation may get to hear her brilliance ❤❤
Yo man, you are cool, spot on with your analysis, you have a great voice and spot all of things that are important. Excellent reaction to my favourite Olivia song.
The one with Cliff Richard is beautiful
Suddenly - gorgeous song from Xanadu
This is my all time fave Livvy song. I have loved it since I was a very little girl. This was on her greatest hits volume - I got it on cassette for my one of my childhood birthdays. My sister and I wore that tape out!
RIP beautiful lady this is one of my favourites from her. Peace out.
Livvy was a great ballad singer. Rip Livvy❤
This song so beautifully sang! Olivia a favourite of everyone, especially John Farnham and Delta Goodrem who were devastated by her death 💔🌹
She has a lovely voice and by all accounts was a lovely person as well
She is so missed
Olivia was a vocal beast in her prime. You should definitely check out more of her catalog. I especially love the song I Honestly Love You.
Great reaction! One of my favorite ONJ songs, especially live.
Also, in that same concert she sang another song where her vocals were just as high and the song is called Jolene
That whole concert is amazing ! It was HBO special ! You should check it out
Lovely lady who could really sing.
Her duets with John are the best
God Bless.
Another incredible vocal from this concert was Jolene. You should really check that out as well.
More Olivia please :)
You really need to react to her video and song called magic. Both Michael Jackson and John Lennon said it was one of their favorites

Its like when Matt Corby did a live version in a church with a gospel choir background vocal. You have to check this out.

That's from Grease I love that one
'Sam' is pre grease, it's from the album 'Don't stop believin'
Your thinking of "Hopelessly Devoted to You", Both are terrific songs.
@@krystalryan9174 yes easy to confuse the two 😆

I love this, but I still think her best vocal performance is singing Don't Tell Me with John Farnham.
Can you react to Daneliya Tuleshova again? Her music video “tied” and lyric video “memories” are superb
U did a reaction with Johnny and Livvy ladt year?
You should react to mandy Harvey's audition on America's got talent if you haven't seen it
aint nobody said nothing, meanwhile all Aussies been telling you from day one
4 years after Grease
The whole concert was great
Can you please React to Aaradhna ft Adeaze - getting stronger song from NZ
Please react to more Korean soul ! There live version their debut single There's a God is so good.
