She got a book called: George who? It Dark Prince of what? Birds are the closest living relatives to dinosaurs. I think that’s why it’s named that. (Not some watching yet)
Even though you didn't like Lost Gods (which I havent read), I would recommend Slewfoot. Firstly, it's only 300 pages. It's a very simple plot and I found myself personally invested and rooting for the main character Abatha. It also confronts gross Puritan christians (:
man i could not do a blind date with a book. I'd be too worried about getting saddled with some coho slop. i need to know at least a little something before i commit to reading lol
That's why I don't buy blind dates with a book. From the library is fine, but I'm quicker than normal to DNF them if I don't find anything to enjoy about them.
A friend of mine whose reading taste is wildly different to mine recommended Brom to me. She said he paints his own covers, which is fascinating. The first book I read was Slewfoot, where I learned I didn't like puritan novels (if you liked the VVitch you might like it. There's basic basic feminism in there, but I'm not crazy about the "Women can do what men do!! Old world so cruel to women!!" kind of books). Compared to that, I thought Lost Gods was more interesting in world building/weird, but the story just didn't grab me.
This is why I’m afraid to do blind date with a book. I just don’t think I’d get anything I’d want to read. A friend of mine asked if I’d ever try speed dating thinking I’d really like it and I was like are you insane? I can’t even buy a hidden book. Meet random people???? Nah
I have so many books in my collection that I haven't touched in neigh on 20 years that I really should double check that I want to keep but I'm also a bit scared that I'll hate them all and have nothing
Lol. I was saying DNF DNF DNFFFFFF but I am talking to past you so...lol...not super helpful. But yay! You did it! Like..who CARES! WE ARE GOING TO DIE!!! PUT DOWN THE BOOKS THAT YOU ARENT LOVING!!! Sorry. Too many caps. But seriously. It is so satisfying to say GOOD BYE to a book that I do not want to read. I love it. I read one book by Lydia Millet, I think...A Children's Bible? I guess I could look it up but I am taking care of my baby and cooking so I am too lazy and would rather just type in this box. I quite liked it, I think her writing was good and I would read something else by her. Hope you have success with the next ones!
Gonna jump on the bandwagon and recommend Slewfoot by Brom if you have any interest. I just talked about it in a video I made about books with great depictions of righteous feminine rage, so it is perfect if you are wanting to feel that/feeling that. Definitely content warnings for torture scenes and animal death, among other things.
Girl, HOW did you handle leaving them wrapped for so long???! You have the patience of a saint.
I am currently reading Slewfoot by Brom and am LOVING it. I was so excited when you opened Lost Gods. I am curious about it! Okay, back to the video….
Lost Gods is my favorite Brom book! ❤
The silences in this video are loud 😂😂😂😂
They really got you with the blind part of the blind date with a book lol
Birds are dinosaurs, so that's probably why the title is what it is lol

A themed Read It or Unhaul It! ❤ Genius. I also love that you show up here as you. Lovely. Thank you.
When I'm unsure about DNFing a book, I always check the reviews! Helps make my decision for me!
OMG finally! I was wondering what that wrapped book was!
Lmao the way you said “DINOsaurs?!” 😂😂😂
LMAOOOO at Nigel in the back during the intro!!
I really liked Krampus by Brom. The art was a fun addition there too

The pause after “George Bush, Dark Prince of Love” *dead*
Oh no… guess Lost Gods is going bye bye. 😂😂😂 try Slewfoot. I am 30% in right now and am LOVING it. The main character is amazing so far.

I love Brom! Krampus and Slewfoot are both great. He does all the artwork for his books too. I haven't read Lost Gods yet but looking forward to it.
I highly recommend Slewfoot! I had it on my TBR for awhile and I read it in October, ended up loving it. The atmosphere was top notch.
Cutest doggy ever! 🥰

I've been wanting to try Brom, Slewfoot is the one I've seen around most.

I just got Dinosaurs from kindle recently cuz it was like a $1.99 deal lol I've heard good things 🤷🏻♀️
I read Krampus last year, it was good and weird.

oh nigel was judging tf out of you 🤣
I have Slewfoot on my TBR. Would be interested in your thoughts on it.

Never in a million years did I expect a book called Dinosaur 😂. I can tell from the title George Bush the Dark Prince of Love she’s not for me.

Anyone else here obsessed with Hidden Signs of the Universe by Olivia Cooper?
