Dylan, when I saw the white door I thought you were cutting your doors ;) It's only Ferrari if you've used Campagnolo cables, sleeves and ferrules... A bit of fuel hose over the window bolts for vibration dampening? Looking good!
You should consider 3d printing some pieces that fit in the front of the door where the housing passes through the holes, to prevent it from wearing through.
How much do you think that side intrusion beam weights? I can get doors without it in NZ(we have alot of imports), ignoring the safety deficit would be keen to know.
I think that I would use a bicycle brake handle to operate the opening of the door instead of just pulling on a cable.Might look slightly more finished without adding an undue amount of weight.
Whats your opinion on the Porsche 911 window pull straps. i have been thinking of switching my power windows on my miata to that belt mechanism for simplicity.
I have pull straps in the K Miata for door closers, but not for operating the door latch. I love them, and I don’t see why they wouldn’t work well for opening the door, you would just need to rig up a mechanism for it.
@@NappMotorsports i meant straps for opening and closing the windows, i like the door straps, but window straps but be efficient and simple way for it to open and close
I wanna see someone actually make a video "how much weight do u need to pull off your car to ACTUALLY make a difference in time" in which they realize it takes +100lbs of loss before u finally can knock .001 seconds off ur time. Also do a side by side race with 2 exact same cars, with the exact same mods to both but 1 has popular "weight reduction" techniques done to it. I REALLY think the outcome would stun alotta folks
While that would be an interesting video, the science has been proved out multiple times. Saving 100 pounds is very significant, especially in low horsepower settings like a miata. If this car weighed 3200lbs instead of 2200lbs, it would hardly be able to pull out of a turn on track.
@@NappMotorsports the science has proven u need to pull a TON off before one gets even .001 sec off a lap time. So people ruining their car ripping out the interior and sound deadening isn't really necessary until u got sponsors knocking on ur door. There so many more mods that can be done to gain performance numbers. Also ur comparison of 1000lbs is kinda pointless because NO ONE is pulling 1000.lbs of weight from their cars without getting into expensive synthetic materials. Most don't realize how much is required to even pull 100lbs let alone 1000
@@BMWiE-lz3nu I don't know what science you've been reading because what you're saying is incorrect. The general rule of thumb is 1kg is worth around 0.1sec in higher category motorsports, but a little less in lower categories. Saving 25kg can make the difference between winning or being at the back of the field. Also, where you save weight is incredibly important. Weight saved heigher up in the car will lower the centre of gravity and reduce body roll, unsprung weight is super important, and also affecting the front to rear weight balance will change how the car handles. But it doesn't mean to chop the whole car away, because affecting aero negatively and reducing body rigity is going to slow you down and make the car unpredictable. Just stripping the interior, sound deadening, lightweight seats and wheels, changing to a full carbon fibre hard top will shred seconds off your laptime without even changing your tyres, suspension or increasing power.
Looks great! Very clever with the bike cable excellent idea.
I'm definitely going to use that to improve my door pull cable. Having the pull cables a bright color really helps safety crews
Thanks Joe!

Might not be a bad idea with the fuel hose!
Very Good!!! Thank You!!! Best Always,
Thanks Christian!
Good one Dylan! The Chapters are sweet.
Thanks!
Nice write up! I hope you are adding door bars to the cage.
Once the car gets a full cage for W2W driving, it’ll get door bars and anti-intrusion stuff.
Massive weight saving
Now I’ve gotta cut some of my own weight! - Stefan

Good idea!
0:16 then replace door bushings, right? 😉
We’ve already got a set of those amazing Spiked Performance door bushings 😏

Not worried about looking finished in a gutted track car though.
Pinch weld is what the rubber around the sharp edges is called.

Arent you planning to install plastic windows? You can make air wents so you will not get very hot in the car.
We might do some project G vents, not sure yet.
