In my head the listener’s silence is not an act of defiance - they’re actually mute. I think it’d be interesting to see how this man would react when he realizes that. Maybe he could get the listener a notebook of some sort so that they can spell out their thoughts, and when he looks at what they’ve written it’s just “fuck you” in big letters lol

If there from such a backwater town as the speaker says, maybe they don't even know how to write. That would complicate the relationship even more but allow it to grow if they teach them how to read and write.

Some people had some very interesting ideas as to why Doll is staying silent (which I upvoted), but I raise you: what if the mutism is just as much an act of defiance as it is a drawback of suppresing their powers?
They've been resistant to using them until now because that's what they've been taught to do, living in fear of their magic and the price of using it. But, since all that effort was for naught, they're tired of being scared of a part of themselves. Stay or go, they'll figure that out later. For now, they might as well learn what they can from this intense fellow.
This is a fun idea. I was wondering if maybe the listener was traumatized whe. Their power manifested. Maybe they accidentally hurt or killed loved ones or almost died themselves and that might be why they are so silent and reluctant to try the magic exercises he was trying to teach them. I can see them remaining quiet until the speaker freaks out at them, leaving listener to respond in one of 3 ways. Breaking down in tears and admitting what happened and that they are terrified, getting angry and yelling at the speaker about being scared of losing control in a defensive manner, or listener gets terrified causing their power to manifest because of uncontrolled emotion and the speaker sees how listener reacts to their own power. (Possibly them shaking in fear or perhaps looking glassy eyed, locked into memories of what happened when it happened the first time)
I can't wait to see the next installment and see the idea that gets chosen, I'm sure there are a ton of great idea bopping about

I really love the idea that maybe Doll isn’t being defiant, they just don’t speak his language and don’t understand a lot (if any) of what he’s saying. I’d love to see the moment he realizes it and if he apologizes for threatening them.
He seems okay. Not great, but definitely not terrible, so far. He seems like he has good intentions. I don’t think it’s a bad idea for Doll to stay with him. I want to see them continue on in each other’s company. I don’t know how or if they’ll ever become friends, especially with the unbalanced power dynamic going on, but I’d like to see them come to understand each other better.
I’m thrilled to see an original script from you, Jouska!! It feels like the natural evolution for the channel. I’m excited to see where it goes. :3

I would want the listener to try and escape but fails and starting to speak a bit too when realizes that there is nowhere to go.. at least for now.
Since everyone else is saying this, guess I will as well. We keep to ourselves, don't say anything unless we need to. We then wait till he's vulnerable, distracted or asleep, take what we need and escape and BOOK IT into...anywhere, we can survive from the "powers?" We have

I'm gonna call the listener character doll for now.
I think it'd be funny if the reason why doll doesn't respond or react well isn't because they're ill mannered but because they genuinely don't understand what's being said. Maybe they speak a different language and as time goes on they understand this language more and more. As for their answer, i think it'd be a word they picked up on during the whole "one sided conversation". It could be anything ranging from "the wilderness is frightening" to "are you a masochist?" (That's my favorite option LOL) or even a simple "ok."

My first thought was this poor thing has been in such a trauma they cannot speak and is half aware. The magic is stuck within. I am super excited for the next step!!!
as much as the idea of listener being mute sounds cool i would also like to imagine that their power is similar to Inumaki's cursed speech (from jjk).It reinforces the user's words with energy, which compels the listeners to act or be acted upon based on those words. So that's why they can't speak because they dont know what their power would do

this was such a tasteful audio! i have some thoughts, and hopefully i can word them properly:
- someone mentioned the idea of listener being mute, and i loved that idea as well. i think it would be fun to see how speaker could play off of that in the future.
- as for how listener behaves towards speaker, i think it would be cool to see listener and speaker as sort of people who don’t understand each other (at least in the beginning, and growing to be able to communicate even when listener cannot verbalize their thoughts. basically two peas in a pod!
- i do just love the idea that listener has a had such a rough past, and even now being taken in by this complete stranger, that they have a lot of trauma and have compartmentalized it in a way where their powers have been shut off - in a sense.
- in my mind, i think that listener should be sensitive to verbal overstimulation, since they can’t just speak their thoughts, frustrations, etc.
maybe the speaker grows to understand and help them in a major way, and that leaves room for their relationship to turn for the better.
- of course i don’t want listener’s inability to verbalize be something that limits them from being a strong-willed person or seem like a pushover.
- i also think listener’s powers (if this hasn’t already been decided) be based off telepathy/illusions! so in this way they’re able to communicate in a different and creative way.
once again, i hope i worded this respectfully and properly! :’)

Especially running with the illusions idea, they can make terrifyingly vivid images that take can take a bit to realize are illusions. It would take practice for them not to utilize it as a fear response

Personally, i think the listener should be holding back from using any sort of magic due to the association within their village. From the audio, it sounds as if the hard working or powerful ones are picked off by noble families and taken away from their lives. Due to the village keeping magic on a down low, unless they use it responsibility and within a more secretive environment, it will burst uncontrollably, which is what lead to the Listener being discovered. I think the listener should be tipped over the edge by constant attempting at drawing the magic out either angering them or creating a strong amount of fear associated with these sessions. Using that, the strong emotion of choice helps push them past their mental block and the same thing that happened in the village happens in the home. Lmk if i should add to this or if its a wacky idea and i should brainstorm again 😭
Listening to this, all I can think about is that personally, my main goal would be to steal one of his more powerful fade stones to bring it back to the village we came from. Having him make a great speech about his house and family, meanwhile _our_ family is back in an unsafe place? I'd only play along until the very first moment I could do something, anything, no matter how big the risk.

Maybe the Listener went through a traumatic event with her powers, whether she killed or almost killed someone, and she can't talk after that, She's afraid to use his powers, She's left as an empty person. The Speaker will have to be the one to help you get out of the trauma and help her speak again and accept her powers.
I like the idea of whatever happened before scared to listen. To the point of not talking. As if listen are afraid of what happened if they speak. Maybe a nightmare at while on the road causes the truth to come up? And they have to work through this?
Listener strikes me as a painfully shy character. Locking up and nervous when scared, something that being prompted to speak aggravates. When they do speak, its in a stutter or stammer that gets aggraveted with nervousness or emotion. Growing up on a farm, they would prefer to communicate by simple gestures and miming. Or just outright doing, since the people around them knew them so well.
Here, with a stranger who insists they talk? And is bringing them to a place where talking will be mandatory?
I'm running the first chance I get. Maybe channeling my fear into tools to escape.
Edit: so something I'd love to see is the use of our powers, whatever they are, as blunt weapons and only when we're in "fight" mode (right now we're in freeze and I'm voting that we "fly.") Fight mode is our very last resort when our back is against a wall and only then does our power get utilized. He was goading us into thinking of Red, so we weild fire. Likely using it as a burning club.
Our demeanor goes from detached to methodical. Only focused on our survival. We don’t intend to hurt, but we will if he doesn’t leave us alone.

i really want Doll to play the long game, slowly cooperating and gaining trust of him. another thing i hope is that Doll is actually super powerful but just doesn’t show it!
Due to this story I’ve listened to thus far, I think it would only be fitting that the reader remains silent due to the chaotic choir of panic, fear, uncertainty, hatred, and past memories. It’s not the fact that they’re mute, or can’t understand the language, but the sole fact that it has been a survival mechanism to think before you act. He on the other hand misunderstands this silence for stubbornness and decide to leave doll there, free of shackles yet knowing the monsters lurked just out of sight, to which the reader would- while trembling- encase him with doll’s shaky arms. Here he would finally realise that maybe he pushed a bit too far. But wouldn’t outright say that, more so say it indirectly that it’s best to get going. THEN the reader speaks after picking up its restraints, “wh-what about these?” since the reader has a fear of its own power. And the fear that maybe he would be mad if doll wasn’t in restraints since the reader isn’t actually use to freedom. He, who hears doll speak for the first time, finds it hilarious. Of all things to say, doll brings up the shackles? It just leads to wonder how badly and backwards the reader’s mind possibly was, and how much effort he’d need to put in to change it.
Because I’d like to think that magicians or whatever doll is, is a hated kind, to which the archduke (or prince- whatever of high power is chosen) wants to change. That he’s smart and gathered the fact that doll wasn’t treated like a person, being one of the reasons he bought doll in the first place. To save the reader from its horrible life and turn their fear and horrible experiences into their own strength. Like what he was forced to learn on his own as a child, hence why he’d be frustrated because of seeing his own trauma in a sense. Besides also having the belief that someone like doll’s kind is what the kingdom was lacking.
I am hooked on the hypnotist audio but also, I realize that I want a part two to this one. Did you ever end up writing a script for a continuance of this? I honestly would love it, no matter what direction it goes in. :)
I think this guy is really interesting!! I think it would be fun if the listener (I'm guessing called Doll in this one?) helped him for now while trying to run away when he's not looking. As for how the audience will decide, maybe you could wait about 24 hours after the video drops and pick a few of the ideas in the comments and make a poll on your community tab? I entirely believe that Jouska is the best Audio Rp channel ever, his mannerisms and voice acting is just so natural yet so good for story telling! i fall in love with ever character hes ever voiced, even if ive heard the script from another video! i read a comment he made a while back that said he was trying to write his own script too! i absolutely cannot wait to see how that turns out!!

Talking down to us like he expects a "Thank you so much my gracious godly lord for elavating a lowly uncivilized waif such as myself from my mud hole town of poor heathens from whence I came. I am filled with the love I feel from the glorious purpose you've bestowed upon me. Bless me o' kind savior and make me worthy of you." There just ain't no way. Then to dangle false choices like that suddenly makes him better? If the only option that you can compare yourself to to make you look better is a life-or-death situation, then clearly you're not as great as you think you are. Your tactics belie your undesirableness. Crazy. Absolutely absent of good sense.

I like the past trauma-angle xD perhaps something of the like that Doll had a sibling with whom they grew up in the village (orphaned at a young age) and left to fend for themselves (might explain the "not eating" thing). And when their power manifested it was because they and their sibling was ambushed by a group of people who wanted to harm them (being outcast and them being drunk and stupid or something like that) and in an attempt to protect their sibling their power manifests in a (red) burst of energy that kills everyone around them, even their sibling. In horror they haven't spoken since and have more or less lost the will to do anything.
Perhaps the speaker helps them snap out of it or perhaps animals could (could be a notch to the comment about animals in the village, and Doll always having felt more comfortable around animals since humans seemed dangerous and untrustworthy?)

While listening, even though we're afraid we can't speak because of how long we've been told if we speak something might happen, so we don't know how to speak. So the speaker could try to read into their thoughts and try to understand what they're wanting to say or teach them how to speak.
I think it would be fun to call his bluff and run off. Maybe he would try to chase after doll and they would somehow bond over a life or death experience
When I was younger I had crippling anxiety. When someone was angry with me and yelling in my face, I shrunk in on myself. I couldn't move. My throat would clutch and I couldn't speak. It was hard to swallow. I was literally paralyzed with fear. This audio reminded me of my younger self, and how far I've come.
I am kinda not surprised that Mr I empathize greatly may not realize why the listener is so despondent. We may know little of the circumstances but it's clear enough that we were taken. So would say he wants some kind of magic he shouldn't expect it to be pleasant for him. Like small avts of pettyness

Ok, from what I know from choice games and using that knowledge (where I usually end up dying)
I say, we play along BUT also be annoying too, because it’s funny 😂 resist when it’s necessary but give in after being annoying 🤷♀️
I like the idea of Listener being Mute, usually communicating by writing things down to be read, and shunned by the village because of their magic which tends to be in the destructive side. Maybe it’s fire based?
Because they were shunned for having dangerous magic they don’t have a good handle on their emotions which makes the magic even harder to tame, so any control and strong magic usually happens with Listener being alone.
The villagers saw the magic when Listener thought they were alone, and Speaker realised this so he gives them space, realising that Listener can use their magic quite beautifully when left in peace, but as soon as he breaks that peace the control is lost which frightens Listener more and makes them spiral.
I also like the idea of Speaker and Listener bonding over writing, maybe he starts writing back instead of speaking out loud so Listener will feel more calm around him. Then they can bond over books which he starts reading to Listener so they can link his voice with something positive.

I feel as though we go with the dude, but not before we remind him why he purchased us to begin with. Maybe some monsters show up, and we defend ourselves. Much to the speaker's shock. I also think it'd be interesting for the listener to be much more cooperative/cordial to the servants at the mansion(?) but not the speaker lol
I have gathered my thoughts, i hope they make sense
-- I, as well as a few others, would like to view Doll as mute, something that will continue to frustrate speaker until he learns about it
-- I imagine that doll is going through a lot of grief, they just got taken away from their home they've known their whole life, that of which was already dying, and then to suddenly show signs of magic, which I imagine to be at least frowned upon where doll is from
-- I also believe trusting speaker is a good choice. He may seem like an asshole, but it genuinely seems that he's somewhat of a decent person, I imagine it would take time to trust him, but I feel it would be the path to go down
- I have a single idea so far as to what next audios for this could be, one of them is something like a sleep aid, Doll has a nightmare or isnt falling asleep and speaker is there
Over all, i think doll should trust speaker, and maybe earn some comfort from him along the way

First I gotta say, I love your voice acting! In my personal opinion, I think this guy is not as nice as he thinks he is. After all he basically took away listener's freedom, turned them into a pet, and told them to be grateful for it. At that point it would be better to face the monster with dignity than give him the pleasure of having his "plaything" I mean at least the monster is acting on instinct.
Dang I really want a part 2 of this one.
(Also it would be so funny if the listener doesn't speak the same language as him and the whole time they're like "...tf is he saying?" Or maybe they're deaf and trying to read his lips?)
I might have a different take but I always think these mean guys come around eventually lol. While he is frustrated that the listener is silent, maybe they are actually afraid that their powers will hurt him or overall cause more harm to the situation, so they are keeping silent & resisting (for a purpose larger than he can see). maybe an event where the listener finally uses their abilities to save someone/thing?

I really like the mutism idea people are throwing around, but I’m not sure if I am fully sold that the listener could be mute based on the reactions of the speaker in this video
I think it would make most sense if the listener was genuinely scared out of their mind and really not acting as themselves
So I’m on team take the magic rock thing and bolt, but that would leave the coach and horses unprotected so I can’t see that going over well for anyone, maybe the listener will get lucky and use their ability then
Also love the suggestion of the listener possibly being traumatized by their power in some way, perhaps it being uncontrollably powerful whenever they use it, the incident where the town all witnessed maybe ended with some major property damage and the townspeople looking at the listener with fear and scorn!

I like the idea of sticking up and cooperate a bit for now, if the situation from where the listener comes from is that bad is true that this is an opportunity, but that doesn’t meen we’ll obey them completely, and also, even is the situation is bad, how could we abandon our family at the first sign of escape without them.
and also, If I may speculate a bit, I been thinking that maybe the listener is not mute, but they chose not to speak because he has no control of his magic yet, and thinks the if he says the wrong thing or lets his emotions out in words this magic could manifest in a bad way.
Surely we play along until we can get our sweet sweet revenge, as well as a cool white hair make over ;p
He won’t be “afraid anymore” but terrified when we can unleash our power properly:D
Okay, so I've got a few things figured out.
1) The listener knows what a fadestone is, so whether they can understand him or not, they probably know that they need one to survive if they leave.
2) The listener should either be deaf, mute, or simply unable to speak his language.
3) I think the listener should wrestle the stone away from him, take off into the trees, and last maaaaybe a couple minutes before something happens and they need his help. Then he shows up in the nick of time and (very smugly) saves them. Who's with me?
either way, i do love rebellious character😂😂 i know something will happen (because this is a script and not just a novel of a delusional man talking to himself in some dark basement), but until then, keep up doll!❤

This audio was amazing 🎉🎉, it reminds me ALOT of a book a read semi recently called "Where The Dark Stands Still" I HIGHLY recommend if your into this fantasy person with subdued magic caused by past trauma forced into being someone's servant.

Ok, here is a theory I have about why the listener is silent and why their magic doesn’t seem to be working. What if their magic is based around sound, like speaking. The “incident” half a month ago was the first time they used the magic, and now they’re scared to speak. They can’t just imagine a feeling to cast, but something closer to an incantation.
