Yeah, UFOs were a big deal in the 1970s. Books, movies, documentaries... The Bermuda Triangle and the "mystery of the Pyramids" and astrology and scientology and ESP and all kinds of kookie people with crazy claims like Yuri Geller. They got off drugs and onto bizarre beliefs.
Yes, that’s true. I hadn’t heard about cigar-shaped ufos until the tic tac episode a few years ago. I thought it was amazing that she said she saw one back in those days. It was clearly “a thing” even back then.
There were cigar shaped ones reported at the time. In fact, Jung wrote a book about UFOs, mentioning the possible connection between phallic symbols and saucer shapes or cigar shapes.
A coworker of mine claimed to have had an encounter with extra terrestrials. He also freely admitted to occasionally using a combination of assorted drugs, so there's that.
We have been kept in the dark by governmental agencies, for fear of losing control. Anyone who believes that, in this vast expanse of universes, that we are the only ones, is fooling only themselves.
In any other comedy, the UFO group would be full of "kooks" and would scare the witness out of talking to them. In this story it's the other way around, which is pretty original.

Bea Arthur looked so beautiful in this episode. I mean she's always been beautiful but idk there was something about her in this episode. Maybe it was that nice outfit she had on in the beginning 😊😊😊😊
I later saw an interview in which R MacLanahan read for the part of Rose initially, but felt it was too close to the part of Vivian from Maude and didn't feel she could bring anything to it, and then they asked her to walk down the hall and read for Blanche.
I wish they shown the aliens or the ship at the end of this episode! I believe Maude, you are a very reliable person that wouldn’t make up something like this. In reality I have never experienced a ufo or Bigfoot
Cigar shaped UAPs aren't all that uncommon actually. The show was well researched. The Citizen Hearing for Disclosure should have made this more acceptable by now one would think.
"Cigar-shaped" and "flying saucer" are two DIFFERENT shapes. Cigar-shaped objects are the motherships, and the saucers are the scout craft that come out of those ships. Just saying.
@@movierun IDK about the cigar-shaped ones holding anything, though they might. The biggest mistake in the program was calling a cigar-shaped object a flying sauces, instead of a UFO.

Nobody could give an angry look like Bea Arthur. 😂❤
“May I speak frankly “….such a funny episode. 11:50 Maude and Vivian conversation is hilarious. Maude's factual expression....so funny.

Wonderful memories watching these iconic actors
Vivian: Gosh, look at her she can’t talk. She’s speechless.
Arthur: I’d like a picture of that🤣🤣🤣
Great episode 😂😂👏👏👏
Damn I miss Bea and Rue❤ They made some of THE best TV
Blanche and Dorothy 😂
That Santa Claus part will never stop being funny.
No Valium. Just a tick tac.😂🤣😅

Love Maude channeling Nixon at the end.
I love how Arthur always called Maude Maudie! ❤️
The TV interviewer is Larry from Three's Company!
At that point he had only been on the show once. He didn't return to Threes Company until February 1978.
So this is what he did before becoming a used car salesman. 😁
Please more Maude Episodes!
I love Vivian's shirt! I used to wear those kinds of shirts, and I'd love to know where they found that one at the time 😊
Sears and roebuck.😂🤣😅
I love those. I love Maude's outfit too. It's very nice. 😊
Bloomingdale's
