When my son was small we lived next to a drop off. Having a soldi fence sure makes it easier to let the little ones play without worrying too much. Great project!
It will definitely help prevent the kids from rolling their bike up the ledge. Well done. I'm looking to install a 150' fence along the ditch in front of my cabin. I really like the old west rustic look of the 2 hole split rail.
As a mom myself that would help a bit with my boys riding their bikes with such a drop off at a young age. But when they got older they dared each other all the time then the real challenge will begin again. But it does look great and what a view y'all have.Great job !👍🏻
Interesting that you only used gravel to hold it place. I like that idea. I want to build one around my vegetable garden. Coupled with some wire to keep critters out. 150 feet needed. Thanks for sharing. Very nice house and land you have there.
Im building my own for my garden out of white oak and pine on our property with 1.5" pallet pickets. Making it youself you can have a split-rail fence instead of a sawn-rail fence. How would you have made yours differently?

Great job, fence looks perfect. I had a friend growing up, his name was Joe. His nickname was "No Toe Joe", he earned that from riding his bike with no shoes and got his big toe caught between the chain and sprocket, bad enough to lose it. Not judging, just an observation and what could happen, that's all.
Yet another wonderful video. The fence looks great. May we ask what you did to secure the posts. We saw the gravel but was concrete used of just packed dirt?
Did you cement the posts into the ground? Or did you just use gravel and dirt? I'm building a log home now and we are thinking about doing a split rail fence between us and the neighbor. Thx.
The fence looks great! I thought you guys already had grass planted in that area last fall... What happened? Thanks for sharing another great video. ATB : )
Good video, but you had another guy helping you and no roots to deal with. Nor slope. Nor particularly stubborn soil from what I saw. Not to mention the two-man auger, which is a beast. SURE, it's easy to do in two hours if you have those resources. For those who DIY on their own, it took me a weekend to do the same 70ft. FWIW.
It is not necessary to pour concrete on every post on a split rail because there is very little area for wind resistance. It is recommended to pour concrete on posts of gates if you have any and on some of the line posts but it is generally not needed.
So I just installed a split rail fence for the first time I'm 57 years old and my stepfather is 75 years old anyway that's beside the point I just wanted to tell you that I think you're you're cutting blade what do you call that the drill was about 20 in too long that just killed you guys our blade was about 36 in Long and it was still hard work lifting it but yours was way too tall anyway thanks for all the points in tips hope everything is going good cute little boy you have there
Very nice. Safety is important but looking good is also a winner.

Split rail is a great look in your front yard. Your persistence definitely paid off.
You have the ultimate dream home. Also what a view.
Yeah the fence just puts the finished touch on the gorgeous view.

I know a Joe who fell from a tree and broke his toe .
So sweet ! Awesome . Thanks
Thanks nice guick informative video with some heart.
Looks great! Will you add wire or mesh at the bottom to keep balls and other toys from making the trip over the edge?
You are a MIND READER!!! Yes I was thinking something at the bottom to keep the volleyball and softball coralled
@@AnaWhiteDIY all I could think as the camera panned over the edge was that I'd hate to be the one chasing that stuff haha
Yet another wonderful video. The fence looks great. May we ask what you did to secure the posts. We saw the gravel but was concrete used of just packed dirt?
Did you just use gravel for the entire post hole? If so what type?
Looks great! What happened to the grass?
Did you cement the posts into the ground? Or did you just use gravel and dirt? I'm building a log home now and we are thinking about doing a split rail fence between us and the neighbor. Thx.
Gravel, the video shows the whole process and added tips to DIY!
Love your fence , how did you set the posts in the ground? Are they concreted in
Love it when the wife says we. 😂
Do the railings come out or would the posts need to be removed?
Did you film this the same day you posted it? The rainbow was freakin georgouse! Saw it in meadow lakes.
The fence looks great! I thought you guys already had grass planted in that area last fall... What happened? Thanks for sharing another great video. ATB : )
Margery K um grass does not grow in winter, in Alaska!
I like the video
How far apart is each post?
Did you cement the posts in?
Hello, was this from a kit? Did the post come pre drilled with the holes, along with the notches for the fence rails?
Yes the pieces are all available off the shelf
The posts are either ends, lines or corners
The rails come in a couple of length options too

Did you buy the posts and rails or did you make them?
You buy them.
So you dont need to pour concrete to set each post? I was told you should

Is that a 3 foot or 4 foot fence?
Nothing worse than auger getting stuck in the ground! Either stuck between rock and petrified dirt, or in roots.
Forest fire in the background there?
Noticed that also !
Where can you buy this type of fence ?
I saw it at Lowe’s but we bought ours from a small specialty home improvement store
Do you all ever see bears neat your property?
You live in a rural area
I love how she says "we" when she does fuck all to help lol
🤘💪🙂👍👌
Easy when there are no rocks in the ground
That definitely makes it more challenging! Thanks for the visit.
How can I reduce my sugar at home? How can I reduce my sugar at home?
She says "we" but all she does is talk. Lol
